Consolation stab EOG
After the sour taste of defeat of the Gunboat tournament, a group of tough survivors decided to have another taste (and seem to have ended up having more fun than the others).

Why do users display "Available Points" instead of "Total Points"?
For what the points mean or don't mean, seeing and ranking by total points is more informative that the current display of available points, no?

I Muted HumanWave... What'd He Say?
Tired of him putting people with opinions like mine and plenty of others here under the bus because he throws around so many unsubstantiated claims. Hope he's gotten better, but hey, please enlighten me... is it worth looking at again?

Why the mods are being selective?
Why they take actions against a player who breaks a rule and don't take actions against a player who breaks the same rule as the other one? What's the point of the rules then?

Leaving a game
How do you leave a game? Is there a way to end your participation immediately (so the other players know) or do you just stop playing and the other players just see that you "missed the last phase" and wonder if you're coming back?
erist (228 D(B))

Well, the ideal thing is never to leave a game, or find someone here in the forums to take over for you and let pople know. But if you really have to go I would lt people know that you are going to have to leave and give them the chance to try to search for a replacement, pause the game, etc

Do not leave the game. It's very bad form. People can see in your profile how many times you've "left" a game by going into Civil Disorder (no moves for two turns). Players who have a reputation for being quitters won't be invited to join better games. Just because you're not doing well in a particular game is no reason to throw your toys out of the pram and stomp off. If you're unexpectedly unable to play for a few days, request a pause instead.

I'm sorry, poor wording. I don't plan on leaving; I'm wanting to know how I'll know if someone is leaving. I've been burned a couple times when people who I've had alliances w/ have left and the new guy comes in and sees that my naked backside looks very appealing.

Hint: Don't leave your naked backside showing. What if your ally didn't leave the game, but instead was tempted to stab you?

Be sure someone will hunt you down no matter where you try to hide and no matter how long it takes. Be warned.

Let me reiterate: I DON'T PLAN ON LEAVING. I want to know if there's a way to tell if someone else is leaving. Do you get kicked out if you miss a certain # of turns?
Yonni (136 D(S))

If you miss one turn without checking a game it will say "missed last phase" under your name. If you do that twice in a row, you're removed from the game and it says "resigned".

If your opponent has not missed a phase yet, you have until at least the following turn until they leave.
Draugnar (0 DX)

And turns in which your opponent had no orders (possibly a retreat or build phase or both) don't count as missed turns, but they also don't reset the count, so if they miss a movement phase, but have no retreats (and/or builds in the fall), they'd have to miss the next movement phase.

That said, all they have to do is come look at the game page under their account and it resets everything.

Although I do think that if your communication outside the game had gone on for a while, that you should have been cut from the torunament, but it's Lando's tournament and his decision to make and I respect him, despite our occasional spats.

This isn't a feature request or anything, just spitballing, but, how would it be possible to implement a surrender feature? You could have another vote, along with draw and pause, wherein the voter concedes that he or she would not be part of a draw. But that would encourage people to abandon games, and it would raise the possibility of someone voting surrender, waiting for all but one of the other players to vote draw, and then switching votes with the hope of slipping in undetected. You could make it an irrevocable vote that comes into effect on the next phase, but that seems complicated.
