I've seen others post in the wrong thread a few times recently. If it is a bug and not user error, it would help to get details of your navigation through the website that led to it happening.

I think it is happening when I am using both the phone and the computer because of busy activity on the computer. I know there is an issue that I can demonstrate where the post back looks at the last thread opened in the session, bot the thread associated with the current post back URL, o if you open a thread in antoher window, then close it and post something in the original window, it goes to the wrong thread. But I suspect it is somehow storing this at the User ID level ont heserver, not just on the session. Simple changing to using the threadid in the URL should fix it. And if there is no thread ID in the URL but one in the cookies as the last thread opened (like clicking forum does) then modify the returning URL to include the thread.

How quickly are you switching back and forth? I typically post between two computers, a phone, and a tablet, yet I've never had this problem.

I open all the threads I want to read in different tabs and then start reading through them one by one and responding to them, and haven't had the problem you describe.

Are you able to replicate it at will? Or does it take trying it a few or more times to cause it to happen?

While we're bringing up forum threads, there's another forum bug that occasionally the latest posts appearing on the homepage forum skeleton will not appear as the latest posts when reading the full thread (in other words, forum.php isn't synchronized with the homepage). I initially suspected that UpdateUTCOffset() or something similar might be grabbing a local time and feeding that back into the DB query, so that if my clock were a few minutes off, forum.php loads a different set of posts than the homepage. However, playing around with clock settings does not reproduce this.

I've had this happen with the live game thread for as long as about 90 minutes recently, during a period when there were no new posts. When I made a new post in the thread, it synchronized immediately. So, now I wonder if the answer is that the homepage reads dirty/uncommitted data but forum.php doesn't. I can't replicate it at will, though.

I've actually seen it the other way, where homepage is *behind* the forum posts, especially when I was the last to post on the thread. I've seen this numerous times. As soon as I go make another post in that thread though, it clears up.

So that makes it sound like it's caching, then. In which case it's more likely to be a purely client-side effect?

I have caching turned off on my browser. I don't cache anything.

So it's actually server-side, then?
