Wisdom or Rubbish? A Thread for Evaluating Famous One-Line Nuggets of Advice.
Post your favorite--or most hated--one-line maxim or saying or quote or *insert another synonym here.*

The next person to post will then say what they think of your posted saying, ie, Wisdom or Rubbish and why, and post their own little one-liner. Repeat until hell freezes over (or we get bored...or we devolve into a name-calling contest...whichever comes first...ha, as if it's a question which will come first...)

Rank falling dramatically
So, one day my rank said that I was in the top 62% and I was considered a member... but then randomly it fell to the top 92% and now I'm a casual player. I didn't draw, win, lose, survive, or resign any games in between this period. Why did this happen?

Draws in PPSC
I was wondering to myself why the pot is split evenly in a PPSC draw. I thought it would make more sense, and make things more interesting, if the draw ended the game and dealt out the points each player is currently "worth" in the game.

NFL Pick 'em--PLAYOFF EDITION...12 TEAMS, 1 GOAL...IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!
The Chargers are the last team standing in that crazy race for the 6th seed in the AFC. Aaron Rodgers rained all over Da Bears' parade, leading the Pack to victory and setting up another classic Niners/Packers clash...only this time, at Lambeau Field. A typical Cowboys/Eagles clash ended in the typical Cowboy way...but it was Orton throwing the season-ending pick this time. The NFC: SEA, CAR, PHI, GB, SF, NO. The AFC: DEN, NE, CIN, IND, KC, SD. The Playoffs...PICK 'EM!

Not quite, several individuals move on and off my shit list, Draug, PE, Putin, maple leaf I even joke with krellin from time to time. There are a select few that I feel are absolute shit and I find myself wanting to choke

The only two I can think of at the moment is you and the holocaust denier Darwyn.

And considering that I spend the fraction of the time that you do on this site these days, as usual I find your attempts to use the "you have no life argument" rich.
I should also point out that YOU were the one that brought up an argument between us from like a year ago in this thread, not me. You did it not once, but twice before I responded and I responded to say I didn't want to talk about it. Who holds the grudge?
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
22 Jan 14 UTC
Not me--

Because I don't bring it up out of spite or as a grudge, but in remembrance of the absurdity of your position...you just love to piss on my no matter the thread, so I just enjoy remembering where it all began...ah...let's go into a flashback sequence...hm...black and white, not sepia-toned...let's try not to hipster this up...

What I love is how we can spew hate at each other on personal terms on this website, and yet Richard Sherman talks a little trash after winning the championship for his team, and he's vilified.
krellin (80 DX)
22 Jan 14 UTC
Thucy - seriously, you think we spew "hate" at each other? What the fuck is wrong with you moronic Libtards that you have to throw the word "hate" around so often. Someone disagrees with a Libtard on any issue and they are a "Hater". I truly don't understand that...and yet, I pity you and people like you if you really think there is that much hate out there...or is this a self-reflection...do YOU "hate" people you disagree with?

If I wee to guess, I would guess that there is *very damned little* hatred around here. I, for one, don't "hate" a single person here - not even Putin.

I'm starting to question my understanding of Libtards...because the common characteristics I see in Libtardism is that EVERYTHING is going to come to a horrible ending -- DOOM is at hand -- unless <fill in Libtard agenda item>. And if you disagree with a Libtard, you are a "hater".

Seriously...what the fuck is wrong with you people?
Thucydides (864 D(B))
22 Jan 14 UTC
I dunno krellin, Santa was just now talking about choking out obiwan, lol, and you, krellin, are one to talk, using a word like "libtard" so disturbingly freely.

I wasn't even talking about anyone that disagree with me, it has more to do with all of y'all's conduct (really our conduct, I include myself) toward each other.

Just shut the fuck up about me being a liberal for a sec, k? Lol. This discussion is about decorum in football, etiquette on this forum, and our personalities. Politics is at best tangentially involved.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
22 Jan 14 UTC
But for what it's worth I hope you are *constantly* questioning your understanding of "libtards" because the ones you have presented to us so far seem woefully distorted.
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Jan 14 UTC
Well, sports are a good indicator of politics. Like NASCAR? Probably a southern redneck 'publican. Like beach volleyball? Likely a California hippie liberal.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
22 Jan 14 UTC
Yeah but we are all sitting here talking about football, bunch of liberals and krellins alike. I was just commenting that our level of decorum is frequently much lower than that of Richard Sherman, and yet we hold him to a standard to which we hold not even ourselves. It's interesting.
krellin (80 DX)

And Thucy - is your skin truly so think that the use of the word "libtard" is percieved as "hate" speech? Good lord - every time I hear/read such nonsense I smack myself in the forehead and scream out to the gods in wonder...what the fuck did the public schools do to all you little kiddies to turn you all in to such whiny, bitchy, soft pussies that you seek to take offense at every little thing around you.

Our conduct towards each other...here's what I perceive: I don't perceive the people on this site hating each other *at all*.

I see a bunch of fairly intelligent people who have found a group of strangers from around the world with whom they share something…the love of a particular game, which in turn implies (probably) a certain manner of analytical thinking. I think the people we see trolling these forums love to trade jabs and make vain attempts to one-up each other in some sort of intellectual gladiatorial endeavor. I think half of the philosophical, extremist bullshit I read around here is more because someone recently took a class or read a book in a topic, and they are working out the details of the ideas through vomiting the ideas on here…I sure as hell doubt the overwhelming majority (particularly libtards) live their life by the ideology they express here.

So I don’t see hate at all, any more than two kids on a playground hate each other when the wrestle or race to get the best seat on the swing to show off in front of the girls.

But, sometimes I fear that you silly libtards *do* see hate…that you are so wrapped up in your self-possessed ideology that everyone exists with evil, selfish intent that you really do see the boogie-man around every corner…and it makes me pity you.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
22 Jan 14 UTC
Hate speech towards me, no, but hateful? Yes. What, did you mean it endearingly? Give me a break.

If you want to stand here and defend your right to be an asshole, fine. Feel free to write another few paragraphs about it.

The boogie-man you speak of, by the way, is you. You're him. You're the problem.
krellin (80 DX)
22 Jan 14 UTC
Thucy - you are *just* as "hateful" of others - you are a condescending, judgemental asshole, generally speaking, and as I recall it is borne of your personal self-loathing because you grew up a complete bigot and an asshole, and you project your self-guilt for being such a dick on to everyone else. You see hate in everyone because you are a hateful, judgemental person who grew up in hate for those around you ---- this is from your own admissions from our past discussion on racism.

You view everyone with a distrustful eye. You view everyone with bad motives and ill-intent in their heart…and you do this because that is what is in *your* heart.

Actually, I'm rather optimistic about human nature, contrary to my Original Sin upbringing.

And if this isn't antagonistic:

"But I am pleased as punch to see that my words have such a great impact on your pathetically thin skin...very pleased."

...then I don't know what is. Since all I am trying to prove is that you are hostile and abusive to other people, I am having a rather easy time of it by just getting you to talk to me. Keep it up lol
Thucydides (864 D(B))

You see, rightist Christians think that what's wrong with liberals is that they blame the societal systems around them for the human ills of the world (corruption, crime, poor health choices, alienation, cruelty, objectification, you name it) whereas the Christian Right blames the human beings themselves and their inherent sinful natures.

Which, of course, does nothing to actually solve these problems through reform, despite an empirical track record that shows that systemic reforms can improve such things.

Enough digression though.
Honestly Thucy everyone in this thread with the exception of one idiot thought Sherman did not deserve the criticism he got, yet you continue to build your straw men "What I love is how we can spew hate at each other on personal terms on this website, and yet Richard Sherman talks a little trash after winning the championship for his team, and he's vilified."

Please show me where anyone vilified Richard Sherman besides in your projections emanating from your head and one idiot named Obiwan.

I was talking on a larger scale though. In the world, Sherman was vilified. I was laughing at how, if we were black and on tv (this forum), we would be utterly demonized as dangerous animals haha
