I kid (though for as much of an ass as I am you DO sound a bit like that sometimes, Krellin) but WOW...that was hysterical. xD Pro-gun people...see, it's people like this that make gun control people eye you and your position as if you've said something so ludicrous as...as, well, "1776 will commence again!" xD When of two people, Piers Morgan is the less self-righteous one in the room...!

Lots of "Left Games"? Offer buy-in discount on left games?
I've noticed lots of games with where players have left. Would it make sense to offer discounted bets to join "left games" to make it more enticing and faster to fill "left games", such as a 25-50% discount? I'm new here, so maybe left games are not a concern to experienced players?

They've got to protect us when we're using chainsaw diplomacy.
@Yonni - it took me a while to fully understand how many levels that statement was intended to exist on. Good stuff.
@finger - maybe this will inspire the moderators to come up with a real policy in this situation. Maybe some controls to gain assurance that this policy is working properly, also.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)

This policy is working fine. If I did not make the policy clear then my apologies. In games that are ongoing where more then one person has cheated the game is cancelled if anyone has been eliminated. If no one has been eliminated then I allow 24 hours for people to draw if they wish, if they don't draw the game is cancelled. Games are never force drawn, and games are not cancelled without the members being made aware of the situation. This has been successfully implemented for several months with no complaints. Obviously all posts in the chat are taken into consideration, which is the reason gunboat games are altered to public press in these situations.

To clear up your confusion there are two active admins. Myself and Yebellz, the other moderators are Zultar and Goldfinger0303, with Kestas owning the site. We appreciate you expressing your concern so vehemently. Let me know if you have any other concerns and feel free to address them to an email I am permitted to read if you'd like a private reply.
Below is what was posted in my game(s). Can you please explain to the public at large why you present a different policy in the forum than you do in the game?

"(jmo1121109): Dear members,

Due to the fact that cheating has impacted the game dynamics I ask that everyone vote either draw or [cancel] vote. I will act on the majority vote tomorrow. Thanks for your patience in the meantime. "

Aww jmo don't be like that! We need a good mudslinging every now and then! From where would we get such staples of webdip as I DEMAND JUSTICE if not for the mudslinging??
philcore (317 D(S))

That's the same message I got this morning. In my anonymous gunboat game it was England and Germany who were cheating, and I was Russia. I had allied with Germany and was just coming around the top to help him with England (I know, strange that you would fight yourself while cheating) while NigeeBaby kept kicking me in the shins in the south as Austria.

I was the SC leader (7 to 6 to 5 to 5 to 2 for the non-cheaters), but was kind of at a standstill when I got the message. With Germany trusting me ( he had just moved out of Den with me in Swe) and my fleets in position for Edi and Lon in a turn or two, I would have been the biggest beneficiary of them being banned.

Having said that - I happily drew the game, because I thought it was a fair policy. I didn't want an unfair advantage (had I known it was NigeeBaby, I might have complained though ;-). I also think that the option of cancelling vs drawing was pretty fair. That way it's up to the remaining players to decide if they want the draw on their record with a few points each, or to just pretend the game never happened.

jmo - I think you did fine in my case.

The public at large doesn't seem to care Lando, but sure, I typed it up quickly at work because I didn't have access to the message I normally copy and paste. You expressed your concern in the chat which was more then enough, and if it wasn't then your email to the other moderators clearly sufficed. Members concerns are never ignored, which is obvious by us still addressing yours despite your publicly rude and disrespectful attitude towards myself and every other moderator on various occasions.
That is why i believe this policy is unfair. If 4 people want a draw and 1 person wants a cancel the game, in my opinion, should be cancelled. You lot drew your game which is fine. I don't personally think that should be allowed either but I am picking my battles to a degree here. But for me to have to have a draw on my record from these games where nobody earned or deserved this draw seems completely backwards. I really, really hope that they do not force-draw any of these games.
Sorry, cross post.

Am I intended to "trust" that the message in chat was enough? Or that my e-mail was? As far as I could tell I had 12 hours or the game would have been drawn. Furthermore, people in the games began voting "draw" and removing their "cancel." The majority was clear and I was not about to get a draw in that game without doing something.

Can you maybe point out where I have been rude during the course of this issue?

Hang on, which version is actual policy, and which version was Jmo's unfortunate error? Not having a go at you jmo, we all make mistakes, but which statement is correct? Do you cancel the game if a unanimous draw is not arrived at, or do you go with the majority?
Lando - draws will only happen if its unanimous. Otherwise the game will be canceled.

What I posted here is accurate. My messages in the game did not explain what I was trying to get across clearly. Draws only happen if the players vote for them, otherwise the game is cancelled.

@Lando, yes, you should have known your email was enough. Not only does every moderators profile say to email problems, but it has been posted dozens of times in the forum over the years that the forum is not checked as often as the email.

"Abgemacht, fortknox, TGM, whomever else. Or mods not named jmo."
That is rude Lando, you could have just asked me or any other moderator. Making a public post implying I'm either not: capable enough, or honest enough to deal with the problem is frankly insulting.
From my perspective you had tried to deal with the problem but had gone and done is incorrectly. I feel as though from that perspective requesting a "second opinion" is valid.
philcore (317 D(S))
09 Jan 13 UTC
@Lando - I misunderstod. I thought you were wanting the game to continue because you were in a good position or something. I see your point about prefering the cancel though. If you haven't earned a draw, you shouldn't have it forced on you.

I think jmo and goldfinger cleared it up though, that the draw is only if it's unanimous, otherwize it's a Cancel.

In Defence of North Korea
With the recent successful missile test of the state of North Korea, many casual viewers of Korean affairs may wonder what motivates the relentless aggressive foreign policy of an impoverished and struggling third-world country. Why does the North continue to spend vast amounts on a nuclear and ICBM programme while large swathes of its populace are in starvation?
