As you all may or may not know the New York City group is hosting its first Diplomacy tournament over this weekend and I thought I'd extend an invitation to you. We're going to have 3 boards worth of players so it will prove to be a good time! I've had some "yes"es, some "maybe"s from different people so this email is to pin down who's coming and who can't (and berate those who claim they "can't" until they do :)) If you're interested in coming let me know by emailing me or calling/texting me at 917-239-1858.
Here are the copy-and-pasted tournament details:

TOURNAMENT SCORING SYSTEM: Detour98F. There will be no drop rounds.
Part 1. Scoring of games resulting in a DRAW
(total of scores from a drawn game = 100

)
1. Each player will score one point for every centre they hold at the termination of a game.
2. Each player is awarded 1 point for survival (holds at least 1 centre) to Fall 1905.
3. Each player who has 1 or more centres at the end of the game is awarded 1 point.
4. If one player is the outright leader (has more centres than any other player) he is awarded points equal to the difference between the number of centres he holds and the number of centres held by the player with the second highest number of centers. If more than one player finishes on the most number of centres, no points are allocated in this section.
5. The first four players are allocated the following points: 1st: 4, 2nd: 3, 3rd: 2, 4th: 1. Where two or more players finish on equal centres points are allocated to those players for the lower position.
6. All scores resulting from a draw game will be standardized (calculated as a percentage of total scores from that game) and converted so that the total of scores from a draw game equals 100

. (Individual scores will be rounded to two decimal places, so the total score from a game could conceivably exceed 100

)
Part 2. Scoring of games resulting in an 18 centre WIN
1. The winning player will score 110

.
2. All other players in the game will not score any points.
AWARDS:
1-5th places will be awarded, as well as Best Country awards. There will also be undisclosed miscellaneous awards given out at the TD's discretion.
No draws before 1904. Draw votes will be blind ("piece in a box" method).
TD reserves the option to call an end to the game from 1911 on if no supply centers have changed hands for three consecutive years of play.
In the event of a tie in points for best country, the tie will be broken by who was the first to achieve those points. Then, by who had the most supply centers. If this still results in a tie, the award will be shared.
For ties in places, the tie breaker is: who had accumulated the most supply centers in total. Afterwards it's shared.

TOURNAMENT FEE:
1 or 2 Rounds: $15 Due at first Registration
3 Rounds: $20 Due at first Registration
$5 goes to Kings Games so only 10 or 15 dollars makes it to the tournament fund. Needless to say this isn't going to be a for-profit venture.
I hope that you decide to join us and I look forward to seeing you there!
Rob
PS: I'm sending this PS to everyone I'm emailing -- We've got some guys that are students or otherwise strapped for cash this weekend.. if the tournament fee is keeping you from being able to play let me know and we can make sure you get to play.
