Draw request by an unwilling
Has anyone been bullied into drawing a game when they were winning? This recently happened to me, and although the men I was playing with claim this is not the case, I really feel it was. One player decided to gang up on me and the rest joined in until I caved. I know its fair to vote in favour of the majority, but the only person it seemed to hurt was me.

If you thought you could win, why didn't you stay and fight? If you couldn't win against everyone, you would be eliminated if they all got together against you. On the other hand, I see no united moves against you either.
I'm not sure I understand the premise. If you were going to win, and someone 'forced' a draw, good for them. A draw is better than a loss, so that's what they should be doing.

I think Persephone was saying that they were ganged up on verbally.

and Persephone caved.

disgraceful.
You're supposed to gang up on the leader

Legitimate tactic. Well done to your rivals.

... Except if they were insulting, rude, racist, sexist, homophobic, or such and such. In which case it is very poor play.

Otherwise, bad luck.

looking at the game-play that was a rather crazy game.

Russia looks like it was the big power for a long time, but didn't have any decent alliances. Austria was sitting in the balkans with italy attacking france, not wanting to hurt italy because france was threatening his borders and with russia sitting beside it.
the obvious german france alliance made france very powerful, but germany didn't do enough to stop russia in scandanavia, and never really advanced until the french started helping...

as always russia and germany come to blows in every game (unless one is eliminated before they have a chance) this time there would have been no russia german allinace, and nothing else could have really stopped france, apart from the draw...

Is there more to this story? They didn't even cooperate with one another to attack you? It seems you were just very badly out diplomasized'd.

I'm sorry Persephone, but if your rivals managed to talk you into a draw, when you were in a position from which you were likely to win, then all credit to them. In what way do you feel you were "bullied"?
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
06 Sep 09 UTC
I have read the global chat from your game and, while there were a few insults traded, you were just as guilty of that as anyone else. Unless there was more in the private country-to-country chat, I don't see how you were "bullied". You should have kept going for the win.

I just finished reading Global as well. Their antics gave me a good laugh.

Thanks everyone, your comments were very helpful. I will take these into account in the future. I was under the impression that if I didn't draw when it was a majority vote that I would be the 'bad one'. But it seems I was just conned.

you're all a bit crazy, i like it.

Bullying is as valid a tactic as any other. And, jarrah, there is nothing wrong with rude and insulting in game to get your way. Technically, there is nothing against the rules with be sexist, racist, homophobic, or any other -ist or -ic to get your way.
Babak (26982 D(B))

that was an awesome 'global tab'... i loved it. and yes, you were conned... you should have cajoled everyone to at least think a 3-way draw was possible without AH... then used that as an excuse to get yourself into position to stab Germany for the win.

really, props to AH for planting the seed and to Russia for picking up the idea and running with it. it saved them both from a potential French solo.

Exactly what is it? Is it always unacceptable? Are some forms acceptable? Or just unavoidable? Is it possible to make rules to stop the most pernicious forms of metagaming?

It's that time of year again- when America straps on the helmets, teams start towards the Superbowl, and the rest of the world asks:
1. Why are Americans so crude?
2. They call THAT violence? Should see a England-Germany match! ;)

Views on Goerge Orwell Great Politicain and Writer, or Pessimistic Pundant
Well it is interesting his great peice Animal farm was written when admiration for Stalin and USSR was at its height in Britain and US. We can all see today that the Totalitarian nightmare that was predicted never came about does this mean that all that pessimism was rubish and that that glim future was not possible?
