Easy - I sometimes use my phone away from work to open resumes or other thigs work related -- having a phone that more seemlessly integrates with microsoft products would be nice. Yes, there are plenty of apps that open a .doc, etc...but depending on your purpose for the phone, there are all sortsof reasons to have a windows phone.

I have an Andriod, it's great, but I'm strongly considering a windows tablet for my next purchase because I'm tired f not being able to seemlessly integrate with my desktop.

As for apple: my daughter switched from an iPod to an android phone and doesn't miss her apple product at all.

It was pretty much obvious to anyone that has watched apple over the years - just as Steve Jobs is the man that ressurected Apple from the grave, so too is Steve Job's grave the demise of apple's greatness. I mean...come on, what fucking company spends $3+ billion for Beats??! Shitty headphons (apple had headphones...) and a shitty music service (apple has a music service)…Siri – which Jobs killed and they published immediately upon his death to much mockery. A never ending parade of “new products” that are not new at all, and often times lag the competition in functionality. Meh…It was fun to watch, but Apple is just another player in the game now, not the player, and certainly not the innovator.

Maybe because every Android I've ever owned locked up more often than Windows Vista and my Windows Phone 8 has only ever locked up once in 6 months?

/\ Yeah...can definielty be a little laggy. Three phones and 2 tablets, all laggy, but I think it's hardware related, as my parents Samsung tablets (android falvor) are not laggy. Apple does not put out low-powered hardware, so they do win on that count. whereas there are 6 million varietes of android phones. that being said, my cheap-ass android phone does what I want for a tiny fraction of the iPhone price, so I don't care about the lag.

I haven't had any lag issues with Windows Phone 8/8.1. But I think Microsoft is making certain the few manufacturers use higher end processors and such. My Nokia Lumia 928 has a Snapdragon S4 Dual core 1.5 GHz processor with 1 GB RAM and 32 Gig SSD/Mass memory. By contrast, my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 only has a 1 GHz dual core processor and 8 Gig internal memory.

Android is more fun to use IMO, but IOS is more user friendly. It's honestly a matter of preference at this point as they both have some great phones. I'm rather indifferent to windows and blackberry operating systems. I'd rather have a blackberry phone than a windows phone though purely for the novelty of it. I think blackberry is significantly underrated even if it's not quite as good as the others.

I went from an iPod to an android phone as well Krellin. I don't miss IOS one bit.

I disagree - all things considered, if they are essentially equivalent operating systems, why spend twice as much just for a fruity logo?

This has always been my problem with apple products, from the Pre-smartphone days when I first rejected Apple in favor of a Sansdisk mp3 players which (no surprise) had more functionality than the Apple product at a fraction of the price (which mp3 player – with sd card expansion slot - is still my music player of choice)

It comes with the full version of Windows 8, Microsoft office, and also includes a detachable keyboard. (The Microsoft Surface comes with none of these.) At the $350-$400 price range you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal. I'm personally thinking of replacing my gaming PC with one of these; It would be much more practical for writing and academic work than what I have now.

Best phone I ever had was my old Nokia 2310. Calls, texts, Snake, and a week of battery life.

Just like a Windows laptop will vary greatly depending on the manufacturer and how much bloatware they put on it, Android experience will also vary.

I'd recommend a Nexus or maybe the Galaxy S as a basepoint for comparing android against other phones.

I'm not sure a Transformer would be a suitable replacement for a gaming PC...

Not gonna work as the integrated graphics card is *not* going to be up to running even WoW, much less the latest state of the art games. There's more to a gaming PC than just primary CPU and memory.

To clarify, that's part of the reason I'd rather have the tablet: more practical for writing/academics without the capabilities to run distracting games.

So not a replacement, but a focused supplement. I do something similar. Work laptop and personal laptop. The only work I do on the personal laptop is side business work.

Well, actually it would have to be a replacement. I'd be selling the PC and using the money for the tablet. It wouldn't make sense for me to keep them both, since I don't really have an income yet. Besides, it's probably best I spend as little time gaming as possible; it's a huge, unproductive time-sink.

Not to mention that video games are the bane of my parents' existence...

If you'll primarily be using it for typing, why would you buy a computer with such a bad keyboard.

Well I do most of my writing on my phone atm, so it couldn't be much worse.
