PPSC Points Distribution
With regards to this game: gameID=142343

The pot was 175 D. Germany won with 22 of 34 SCs, so by my calculations Germany should win ( 22 / 34 ) * 175 = 113 D, but Germany only won 105 D (which is 60%, exactly, of the pool). Similarly, Turkey finished with 9 of 34 SCs, so Turkey should win ( 9 / 34 ) * 175 = 46 D, but won 53 D. What gives?

Looking to start a high pot full press game
I want to start a new full press WTA game. Ideally, phases would be two days and the bet would be 150 or 200 D. This game would have a policy of drawing in the case of a 1901 CD. Any interest?

Pausing a Game and a player (or two) is missing
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=142341#gamePanel

We wish to pause a game but two people are not online to pause the game which is part of the reason we want to pause it in the first place. Is there a way to pause it so we can start the game with everybody present?

Thanks to the US Coast Guard......
....for responding to the British public and continuing the search for the missing yacht, it now appears that the yacht has been found, life raft was not deployed and the men were lost at sea. This is not what the families wanted to hear but it brings some closure to this sad and tragic event.

Daily Inspirational Quotes
I started this project on another forum a couple days ago and I figured y'all might appreciate this. I've been making some major personal changes over the past few months, and it's pretty dramatically improved my outlook on life in general. I'm going to post a quote that I think is emotionally or intellectually inspirational with a little blurb about what it means to me. Whether with your own quote or talking about one of mine, feel free to join in the conversation!

I'm building a train...
Could someone tell me how wide it should be so it doesn't hit any platforms or anything. I intend selling my train to France.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

If you build it well enough, you won't have to worry about platforms.
Fishstudios (245 D)

I think the width of the train depends on the dress. Also, don't worry, no one's worn platforms since the 80s, especially not to a wedding or anywhere else you'd expect someone to be wearing a dress with a train. Don't bother trying to sell it to France, though; the place is brimming with fashion designers.

I feel like I may be missing some key contextual information.

Wait until they discover the cars are too long and wide to go through some of the tunnels and a train gets stuck.

""When you separate the rail operator from the train company," he said, "this is what happens.""

No, this is what happens when you rush to teach calculus to highschoolers before they master geometry. : )

I would bet the train was designed and built to specs but the specs from the client were incomplete.

That would be a good bet to place, seeing as that was explicitly stated as the reason in the article you yourself linked.

""When you separate the rail operator from the train company," he said, "this is what happens.""

When you have employment laws and unions who make it almost impossible to sack incompetent staff, this is what happens ;)

It is an amazing cock-up. You have to go to a lot of trouble to be that wrong. A lazy sod would have just used the dimensions of the old trains and would have been fine. To go through the process of surveying an unrepresentative group of stations to produce a wrong answer with high confidence takes some doing. If I was a suspicious man I would suspect it was intentional.

This "wide" train your building - make sure you get release forms signed by each of your "wide" men before you sell the film to France (I never thought of you as a chubby chaser...)

Silly French. Here in America, where every student takes a mandatory ten years of calculus in high school as part of a STEM curriculum, we would never have massive engineering failures like that.
