Pop quiz (test on media performance)
Now that the Arizona legislation has been vetoed and the issue is gone, I'm curious.

Please -- in your own words, and *without reading or re-reading any sources,* state what you think the recent controversial Arizona legislation said.

Tactical Advice
Hey, all. I was wondering if someone would be willing to provide some tactical advice. I am new to the game and am still unsure about some of the rules. I am playing England and am engaged in a struggle for Scandinavia with Russia. How do I avoid a stalemate up North? Russia has a strong alliance with Austria, and I France.

I'm a cheese and pickle man myself, maybe a bit of lettuce as well if i'm feeling adventurous.

My brother used to eat mustard-and-grape-jelly sandwiches. I prefer a yummy Mexican carnitas torta with real guacamole, salsa, lettuce, a little cheddar cheese. Mmmmmmm.....!

Whenever I go to Subway I get a pepperoni and provolone sandwich on Italian bread with lettuce, onions, olives and jalapenos on it. Shit is so cash

Lately, I enjoy Turkish kebab or doner as Germans call it the most. It is not exactly sandwich but its pretty close. And it tasted great.

Ruben sandwich is the greatest of all time. There is no debating this fact. Corned beef or pastrami matters not. Don't go for the Georgia/turkey Ruben with slaw. It shouldn't be allowed to use the Ruben monicker!

@Michigan Man: I agree with you except for one very important thing: pastrami is 100x better than corned beef. There's a deli not far from me that does a super reuben, where they use both, and add bacon for the hell of it. A little overpriced, but they're also the best deli in walking distance from me.

Also, adding a nice Cubano to the list of top sandwiches.

Today after a long run (essential for this sandwich), I used a whole wheat tortilla, smeared it with extra-chunky peanut butter, cut up a banana (lengthwise) and put it in, sprinkled in some wheat germ, some raisins, and added a liberal amount of honey. Folded it up like a burrito, and BAM!
Not the best sandwich I've ever had, but pretty darn close.

Whole foods has a smoked beef brisket on some fancy kind of French bread. The other ingredients are the usual but top quality. But my favorite sandwich just might be the "Almost Grilled Cheese" at Con Pane in San Diego. Ask them to add tomatoes. Sourdough is my favorite, but a lot of people get the rosemary bread, and some get the kalamata olive bread
. :-) http://www.seriouseats.com/2011/05/almost-grilled-cheese-from-con-pane-san-diego-ca-.html

While I do enjoy a good reuben, the Monte Cristo is the king of all sandwiches. Gotta love any sandwich deep fried in pancake batter.
I take it back, reuben is the correct answer.

but i mean, the sandwich in general is one of the best foods.

and the open faced sand wedge is also sometimes important.

The reuben, although an excellent sandwich, is not the correct answer. The best sandwich is the Cuban.
ssorenn (0 DX)
02 Mar 14 UTC
To my dismay, I must agree with 2WL,the the Cuban is a rock solid sandwich. And it exceeds the Reuben.
The Italian is still the best when done with homemade cured Italian meats and gradinare on a frest Italian loaf

Marmite makes a fine sandwich. It's so good the Canadians made it illegal!

I'm surprised not much love is being shown for the steak sandwich, though. It has to be a cheaper steak with a bit of chew, and placed between two door stopper cuts of crusty bread. A little bit of salad by the side where it can be safely ignored, and as much horseradish or mustard as you're willing to apply. Heaven!

Arepas are very good also. I tried a fried egg Banh Mi and that was unbelievable too.
Octavious (2701 D)

Arepas are the sandwich equivalent to the totalitarian state. Criticize the arepas where it reigns supreme and you will quickly find yourself without friends and being watched by black hearted people hidden in the shadows. I have made this mistake once and barely escaped with my life.

I agree with Putin. Arepas are great :D. Yum yum.

Three pieces of whole grain multigrain bread, toasted. In between them are:

Bottom layer - mayo, 1/2 pound black forest ham (shaved), 6 strips of bacon, slice of co-jack cheese, a layer of (sugar free) sweet pickles, onions.

Top layer - 1/2 pound of mesquite smoked turkey breast (shaved), 6 more strips of bacon, slice of pepperjack cheese, 1 hard boiled egg (sliced), lettuce (very crisp iceberg), more mayo on the top slice of toast too.

Serve with fresh organic blue corn tortilla chips and spicy guac or organic whole grain pita bread points and your favorite hummus. Tall glass of iced tea or coke zero to drink.

And the multiple grain bread was the prerequisite
Draugnar (0 DX)

Every thing on there is low glycemic load. As big as the samdwhich is, the only GL it has of significant amounts is the three slices of bread and they are each about 5 or 6 GL each. The meal with pita points or tortilla chips has a total GL less than 30. This is a diabetic friendly sandwich. And if you choose the right meats (the ham and turkey I get are low fat) and mayo (also low fat) the fat content is pretty reasonable too.
ssorenn (0 DX)

Oh I have no prob with your sandwich, actually sounds fantastic,( also cpdid not know you are diabetic ) sorry. I would only change ,mayo for spicy mustard
Draugnar (0 DX)
03 Mar 14 UTC
Either or both work well. I also have this chipotle sandwich spread that is pretty awesome for bringing some heat and flavor to it. Or you can substitute some some sweet hot pickles (I know a sugar free version of that too) and serves hot pickled cauliflower or hit garden mix on the side instead of tortilla and guac or pita and hummus.

On the subject of distance running...
I'm running a 10k later this spring. My best recent 5 mile time is 35:08, and my best 6 mile time is sub-42 minutes. What is a good time to make my goal, and are these good times for an amateur? I don't want to embarrass myself.

How do you view the role of government?
This is a survey, not (yet) a debate thread. bo's thread about Arizona and the responses therein got me thinking about the question, and I don't think we've explicitly discussed it here in a while. I want to start out just getting answers to the question and then we can argue about them all we want (as is webDip tradition).

Well today was interesting
Normally I find the news on main websites pretty stupid (what celebrities hooked up today, etc), but I was pretty intrigued by the battery-less flashlight, the knife attack in China, and Russia trying to start a war.

Are countries 100% randomly assorted?
Is the distribution of which empire one starts of with entirely random or is it influenced in any way? I've checked my game history and I've been assorted Austria on 8 of 15 occasions and am getting slightly bored of it.
