Is the GOP Dying?
Amid yet another sign of a complete brainwashing scheme to throw out anyone with a half bit of independent thought, the GOP appears to be splitting. Where's the line, (when) are they going to split?

You idiots!
I'd like to point out to everyone on this website that is a Marxist (There are quite a few of them, though I've muted most), that it hasn't worked in the long run ANYWHERE. Soviet Russia, Cuba, France, Norway, Poland, Rumania, Czechoslovakia, Angola, Somalia--all places where Marxism existed for a long time, ended up worse off then they were before.

Close the damn prison Yankees. You're creating new enemies that all NATO countries will have to go fight again. The NRA is a much more dangerous organization now than Al Qaeda is. Move on.

policy question: game cancellation due to banned players
I know that if 2 players are banned in the same game the policy is to cancel the game after the players have been given an opportunity to draw it.

Normal Games?
Although I haven't been on this exact website very long, I've noticed that there aren't that many normal games anymore. I don't mean like classic, or world diplomacy or whatever. It just seems there are a lot of gunboat and winner-takes-all/no in-game messaging games. I'm not dissing those types because they can be fun. But diplomacy is about talking with people. I'm not dissing different types. I'd just like to know other people's views on this.

Survey about Lando's tournament and TD policy
Just in case people don't look at the tournament's thread.
Here's the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SQNP86Z
We will take everyone's vote into our decision. If there is a disagreement between tourney players and everyone else, Kestas will decide what to do.

Can the moderators please ban people who sign up for games and don't show up to play them?

A no-show totally messes up the balance of the game.

mobile app!
I think a mobile app for this site would be great. Notifications when people send messages or that a phase is almost finished would help games move along much smoother. I'm sure there are many more things that could be done on an app, maybe even everything, but that alone would be helpful. I don't know anything about programming apps, though, so someone get on it!!

Let's Try This Again...NEW GAME--Global Speak, 7 Players, 7 Different Forms of English!
So I tried to get this started a while back, before my brief hiatus...
But yes--I'd like to start up a game with Global Chat, and each of us will use a different form of English (ex. Southern US English, Cockney English, Middle English...I know someone was interested in Rastafarian English...I'd use Elizabethan-era/Early Modern English, etc.) so yeah...anyone, join up? Game is inside, PM me for the password.

The Star-Crossed Stars and Bars--Mere Symbol of the South or a Symbol of...THAT South
http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2013/04/why-accidental-racist-is-actually-just-racist/274826/ A little late to the party on this one, but I've been very busy with classes (hence my brief absence...anyone miss me? *crickets* LOL) but as we have quite a few Southerners here, I thought I'd ask--would you ever wear/display a Confederate flag, and just take it as a symbol of the South, or is that spoiled by some of it's possible negative connotations?

Civil disorder on saved moves?
If you save your orders but don't mark as ready and then time runs out, does civil disorder ensue? Or are saved orders carried out? Sorry if this answered somewhere in the rules section, but I could not find an answer.

Funny baby stories about your baby or you as a baby
As a dad of a 29 month old baby, there are a number of things that my daughter does that just makes me burst out laughing. I would like to share some of them with you folks, and if you have your own to share (whether of your kids or of yourself when you were little), that would be great.

So after her bath today, which is right before we put her to bed, we went into her room to get her dressed, but she was a little hyper, so she jumped on the bed instead of getting dressed. After a bit of waiting, we got tired so my wife laid down on the floor. Then my daughter demanded that "daddy takes a nap too." So, I laid down next to my wife, and she got a little jealous or something and ran in between us and laid down and said "I take a nap naked," which made me laughed a bit.

Then she noticed that it was dark outside and commented on it, but her pronunciation of 'dark' sounded too much like 'dyke' so I corrected her: "It's 'DARK' honey, not 'DYKE.' " So then she said: "Oh, it's 'DARK' and rainy." And in her most serious voice: "Oh gosh, oh gosh." I couldn't stop laughing for a while.

That made my day.

When I was a baby I smiled at my mom like way earlier than kids are supposed to start smiling. I don't know the timetable though that's just what she's told me.

I used to also apparently always give people behind me (when I was being held) a taunting grin, as if to say "you wish you were a baby like me."

My 154 month old daughter thinks it just hilarious that her dad plays an "online game" that involves "chatting" with people all over the world just to decide where to move tanks and boats. And hearing her laugh about it makes me laugh.

@zultar: I know its hard to admit they're growing up, but at what point will you measure her age in years instead of months? Because for me, once she hit 12 months, I no longer wanted to do the math. I think her mom continued until about 18 months, but then she was no longer capable of doing the math!

@synapse 154 months means shell be 13 in June - I know you struggle with numbers ... 2 ft tall person on a 2foot tall box can see over a 6 foot fence ... What?

LOL @ the Synapse comment. That was just random.

Oh, I don't actually think in terms of months, but I thought people would like the story better if it was about a 23 month old toddler instead of two and a half. Actually, I've taught my daughter to say "two and a half" when people ask her how old she is. Two seems disingenuous, and three is way too much of a rounding error.

Zultar, time to give up the age in months, lol. My son is about the same age he was born 1/30/11. I completely relate to your opening story, it's literally every night something funny/cute, it makes you not want them to grow up.

Another funny story (at least to me):
She was using the potty and she had been on there for a while, so I told her "One more minute" while waiving my finger at her.
She furrowed her eyebrows and said "ONE MORE MINUTE" in a deeper voice while waiving her finger at me. I just lost it right then. :)

@Gen. Lee, I know what you mean.
It goes by really quickly. It feels like it was just last week that I just brought her home from the hospital you know. And now, she talks in complete sentences most of the time (there are times where it's hard to understand her because she can't pronounce certain words).

Favorite word that I'm trying to teach her to say: "Epistemology."
It usually ends up sounding like eeishooology. She's trying at least.
But she can say "algebra" really well.

@Czech, is there a story behind the 21 and 21? Did you adopt or had two wives at the same time, or were you just that good? :)

Our oldest daughter was three when her first sister was born. We overheard the older sister telling her 2-week-old sibling the facts of life:
"Someday, Abby, you're going to die. Mm-hmm. We're alllll going to die."

So morbid it was hilarious.

Same kid, about the same age, looks out the window for a long time, very seriously, and finally announces, "You know, I think the grass is greener on *our* side of the fence."

LOL @ Flemgem. That first story is an awesome story. I rarely give out +1, but you have received my 5th +1s.

My wife gets upset when I talk about death with my daughter.
When my daughter was a year and a half old, she saw a dead bird on a tree on our block. She was curious and wanted to touch it. We said no, of course. About a few weeks later, we walked by the same tree, and I asked her, "Do you remember the bird? The dead bird?" My daughter was sad and got a little teary. My wife glared at me for a while. I think I banned a few people that night.

I always think a little morbid humor is good for the soul, but apparently a lot of people don't take it that way.

My in-laws a church goers. One Xmas day they are eating dinner at our house. I'm coming back into the dinning room from the kitchen, both my in- laws have their backs to me and my son can see me clearly. My mother-in-law asks my son, "and who's birthday is it today?"

I see my son has no idea so I try to help him by out stretching my arms in the sign of the cross.

"Is it stretch Armstrong?" My son says.

Happy days.
