Country selection by player
In tournament style games I've read about you pick your country before the game starts based on a selection order. It would be nice to implement the feature on here for locked games.

How do you "leave" a game?
I've seen different games where it says "Left" on the player's line. I don't see where you can click that - there's a Pause / Cancel / Draw option, but no "Leave the game" option.

Can anyone tell me how this works?

Sorry, for the question (I'm new here), but how do you unpause games? We've all voted to pause, but when we try to vote to unpause it doesn't appear to register anyone's vote. Thanks for your help!

A Game in Different Kinds of Speak?
Anyone interested in holding a game where each nation has a different form of English to "speak with?"

Ex. One nation could use Middle English, one Elizabethan-era/Early Modern English, one Text/Meme Speak, one American South-style English, etc...

Games where people have left
I think it would be a good idea for the password to be removed for when someone has left a game and will make it easier for someone to take over a game. Additionally since the new person is at a disadvantage not knowing the situation they take over a reduced fee for entry. It is very frustrating when people leave a game or NMR so making it more viable for players to take over will keep games going rather than the players next to that country taking advantage like vultures which ruins the game.

Emancipation of the ugly person
Women, colored people, handicapped people have all been emancipated over the ages. But in Holland, the person who's presenting the 8 o'clock news (a very good looking young woman (Sascha de Boer)) is about to be replaced by another very good looking young woman (Eva Jinek). Isn't it time for someone ugly?

Sorry guys, yes, that's an important detail I thought I'd put in. We're talking about the state-run news.

Well, fuck, redhouse....

Unless I'm mistaken, the only public TV news in the US is on PBS. I've never noticed them to be particularly above-average in terms of looks. Perhaps it's just a European thing, were public news is more common.

Technically, there are no "public, governmet owned news" outlets in the US...not officially. There are outlets that recieve government funding. But, any good leftist will say, "Without government NONE of you would have the airwaves to broadcast on...therefore you owe your existence to the Government" and will declare you defacto government organizations, and thus subject you to any variety of hiring and firing rules, if they get their heads set on the notion...
krellin (80 DX)

Or they'll just hold private meetings with you, and tell you that unless you tow the administration line, you'll be cutoff from White House access, and the FCC will crawl up your ass every chance they get...lol
krellin (80 DX)
18 Mar 13 UTC
Abge / Red - seriously...what constitutes a "good looking" person? this is wholly subjective and arbitrary. Given that at least you, abge, tend to be a fair minded fellow, by who's standard do you even make such a judgement?
redhouse1938 (429 D)
18 Mar 13 UTC
or above average looks are more common. ;-)

Ugly actors? Star Trek was revolutionary when they put a black woman on the bridge. Is it time for an ugly actor there?

I can find you an "attractive" skinny white woman, and have individuals from another culture say, "Ewww...look at that overly think gaunt looking white chick. Someone needs to feed her..."

Just to be annoying but right: colored and handicapped people have not really emancipated in the 8 o'clock news. Therefore your opening post kinda sucks. When I saw the title I expected an ugly-pride parade or something alike :)
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
18 Mar 13 UTC
@krellin

Just because something is subjective doesn't mean you have to just throw your hands up in the air and give up. Subjective things are compared all the time.

"I can find you an "attractive" skinny white woman, and have individuals from another culture say, "Ewww...look at that overly think gaunt looking white chick. Someone needs to feed her...""

Completely irrelevant. US news stations care about US ratings. Therefore, you can limit your audience significantly.

hubba hubba...yes, attractive women, imo. My question remains, who will determine, mvoing forward, who is "ugly" and deserves the spot?

Obviously I think this is a stupid idea, but it would not be hard to do if you wanted to.

Networks clearly have some poll they use to determine the right level of attractiveness for the news. Just find that data and scrap from the bottom.
redhouse1938 (429 D)
18 Mar 13 UTC
@krellin
This is not about measuring or determining ugliness and then picking a person, it's about putting on a blindfold and take the best *journalist* for the job *regardless of looks*, which it is quite possible that these two women are, but it's pretty coincidental that they're both, you know, hubba hubba.

My guess is, you'll end up with someone not as pretty as these two.

redhouse, my point was that emancipation of ugly people doesn't have much to do with 8 o'clock news. I understand that's what brought you to the subject but everyone keeps on talking about the news but that doesn't seem to be the point...

Don't really think black people in news is emancipation either to be honest, but doesn't matter.
krellin (80 DX)
18 Mar 13 UTC
abge - obviously I think it's stupid too, if you read my suggestion of using computers to calculate deviation from norm...tongue in cheek..

Since the entire topic is rather stupid, I'm asking stupid questions...

I wonder if redhouse thinks the same principle should apply to college admissions? i.e. put on a blindfold and select the best candidates for school admission when space is limited, regardless of name, color of skin, etc.?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
18 Mar 13 UTC
I don't know what college you went to, but mine didn't require a headshot with my application...
krellin (80 DX)
18 Mar 13 UTC
Abge - please don't pretend that race is not an issue in college admissions...I'll refer you to UoM's recent legal battles and leave it at that.

Your university may not have required a head shot, but rest assured, they were aware of the skin color of some applicants.

I'm not saying this is right or wrong - I'm simply saying it is.

My question is this: is "ugly" the new "black"?

Dragon's Dogma & Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch PS3 Games
If you are RPG gamers, you need to get these two games. If you need some games to play, you need to get these two games. They are excellent games. My Dragon's Dogma's pawn is Katarina (sorcerer). It would be awesome if there are people from webdip who can use her and upgrade her equipment. If you have an awesome pawn, post your name/id here and I will look into it.
