Bugs
Anyone that can say if there is actually a special email or place that one should contact when there are bugs in your games? I have tried to get hold of this through the Help sight and is then directed to SourceForge.net, but that is not so easy to find out there how to post problems on specific games. Anyone that can give me a clue? Thanks.

Hey Putin, MAN UP
I saw noted sex advice columnist Dan Savage speak tonight in Madison and he used the terms "gay" and "homosexual" interchangeably. Since we've all been made PAINFULLY aware that the term "homosexual" is an outdated and disparaging epithet, perhaps Putin can explain to us all why he is correct and one of the worlds foremost gay right activists is a bigot.

PE it's a risk I'm willing to take,

Besides, Putin's customary order of operations is non sequiter, then strawman. So I've got a few other counterarguments to dismiss before we get to red herring.

My internet service has been down for a while (cable company charging us for outdated modem, waited for it to break before fixing it).

I didn't realize Dan Savage was the Pope of the LGBTQ community. HRC says the term is offensive, as do many other organizations. That certain activists like Savage go ahead and use it anyway is about as relevant as African Americans who use the n word. Doesn't do anything to undermine the underlying point.
Putin33 (111 D)
29 Nov 12 UTC
Keep in mind I don't take your word for it that Savage did anything of the kind. But whatever.
redhouse1938 (429 D)

I missed Putin a great deal the last two days. Alas, I will not be following his activities in this particular thread and wish you all the best. A condescending Ta-ta to you all.
Sicarius (673 D)
29 Nov 12 UTC
Fuck HRC.
Fuck savage too.

Anyway putin, I have never heard anyone say its offensive, ever, in my life. I'm queer, I hang out with queers. I go to gay bars. I go to queer national convergences. I go to secret radical queer orgies and count Bash Back! members among my friends. I have never heard this ever. I would really like to hear it. if my tone sounds at all condescending or anything (cuz you always seem to read them that way) its not, I am honestly curious about something I have never heard before. Especially since if anyone knows about this I would expect it to be me.

Jamiet99uk (873 D)

I would have to back Sicarus here. I'm bisexual and have plenty of LGBT friends, none of whom to my knowledge regard "homosexual" as an offensive term, although most of them would tend to use the word "gay" themselves.
dubmdell (556 D)
29 Nov 12 UTC
Words only have as much significance as we give them. If one gay friend finds fairy offensive, then I don't say it around him. If another gay friend prefers fairy, then by all means, I will call him that. Even Draugnar called someone a fag (granted, it was mapleleaf of "fagnaur" infamy, but still).

You people are too uptight.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
30 Nov 12 UTC
Yes, Putin, I'm a bigoted hetero and I made the whole thing up. Now, if you want to quit being silly and accept that I heard what I heard and I shared what I heard, your comparison to black people using the n word is a false parallel.

Educated, well informed blacks do not use that word when publicly addressing a predominately white audience in a formal setting. They refer to themselves as black or African American. Now old Dan has been known in the past to ironically say "faggot," while addressing his gay readers, in much the same way as a black man might say "nigger," but that parallel still doesn't exist with the point you are trying to make. He definitely doesn't use "faggot" interchangeably with "gay," when speaking conversationally about his orientation as if it were an acceptable thing for the general public to say. Know what word he DOES do that with? Homosexual.

And while Dan isn't the pope of the LGBT community, he's definitely far more credible a source on what real people take offense to than you are.
Sicarius (673 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
I would say its offensive to say "hey look at that black guy" when you could just as easily have said "hey look at that guy" but I havnt heard anyone argue that "black" is an offensive epithet. I think dubmdell is pretty right on. It seems there are some people who consider "homosexual" offensive but by and large the gay community takes no issue with it. I think the fact that I have never heard once in my entire queer filled life (until now) someone even suggest that its offensive says alot.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
30 Nov 12 UTC
Why is this even a debate?
Sicarius (673 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
@ Invictus... uh... yeah.
You would be AMAZED the kind of things you can find if you look. I now feel the need to point out the fact that the people at the secret radical queer orgy, I did in fact meet at a (more or less) public radical queer orgy.

I go to a school where - believe it or not - it is widely accepted to be within the LGBTQ "criteria." They push people to be open about it. We had a kid expelled a few years back for bullying a kid about it. It's an atmosphere where that doesn't happen and I'm more than used to being around people that identify somewhere in that community. None of them consider anything we refer to them as in presentations and such because they know the atmosphere they are in is a safe one and that nobody intends to say anything racist toward them. It's like how I, a Jew, am happy to be called a Jew, unless you are calling me a Jew in a way that says you're a Nazi. Jew might be the most offensive word in the Jewish community, yet we all know how and when to say it and when we shouldn't.
Putin33 (111 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
"And while Dan isn't the pope of the LGBT community, he's definitely far more credible a source on what real people take offense to than you are. "

Forgive me for taking my cues from the extant literature, queer activists I'm acquainted with, and resources like GLAAD rather than taking your word for it. Homosexual is a relic of an era when "homosexuality" was considered a psychological disorder. It still has a clinical sound to it and you can be your usual macho self and endlessly whine about people being 'too uptight', and I won't give a shit about your irrelevant opinion.
Sicarius (673 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
I gotta be honest putin, props to you for "erring" on the side of caution (not saying you're erring, just didnt know how else to word) Most people would just dismiss it outright but it takes something to try and stand up for the oppressed minority when its not popular. Prolly kinda similar to using alternate pro-nouns or something.

That said I have not once ever met anyone (besides now you) who finds it offensive, So I would say I'm gonna keep using it until that changes, but I dodnt use it anyway cuz its cumbersome, and like you said outdated and clinical sounding. I give you an A for effort though, and thats not condescension, as a queer, thanks

In order to break down prejudice you need open and honest communication, and in order to achieve open and honest communication one thing that it's really idiotic to do is to is to attack people for using words that they never intended to be remotely offensive. I dread to think how much damage would be done to the gay rights movement if opinions such as Putins became commonplace.
Putin33 (111 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
Interesting that you're for "open and honest" communication, but when people tell you openly & honestly that certain terms and phrases are offensive and demean them as human beings, you typically scoff, more concerned about your ability to freely say whatever the hell you want than the feelings of others.
Putin33 (111 D)

And the day anyone from the United Kingdom thinks something is offensive is the day pigs fly. .
Octavious (2701 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
The open and honest opinions of the vast majority on this thread are pretty clear in saying the word is perfectly acceptable. In the UK only the F-word is offensive, especially when they're blockading the Channel in their never ending protests about farming subsidies not being big enough.
Putin33 (111 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
Because this forum is the end all be all of what's right.
Putin33 (111 D)

France is 1/3 your agricultural exports and gets a pittance in subsidies. I hope they blockade the Channel for a long time.

Sicarius (673 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
That was octavious' only post, slow your roll. I admire alot of things about you putin, your hearts in the right place at least but you come off with the pompous self important air of a white male political science undergrad with rich parents. You attack people who arnt even disagreeing with you. Stop being an ass. Dial down the rhetoric and dial up the tact and critical thinking and I think you'll find an awful lot more people will be interested in what you say. this comes from experience. Ask anyone whose been on the forum for a long time and they will surely tell you that when I was younger I was quite arrogant, annoying and offensive... kinda like...

You're forgiven.

"When people tell you openly & honestly that certain terms and phrases are offensive and demean them as human beings..."

Forgive ME, but the only one to do that so far is you, and you're not even gay. Ultraliberal propaganda notwithstanding, no actual PERSON has told me they have a problem with the words you have a problem with.

@ Putin33: "the day anyone from the United Kingdom thinks something is offensive is the day pigs fly"

I genuinely, honestly, don't understand this comment - please can you explain?
Putin33 (111 D)
30 Nov 12 UTC
Jamie,

It has been the case in this forum that the first, second, and third people to complain when people claim that certain words are offensive or bigoted are from the UK. Like clockwork. Maybe it's just a coincidence.
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
01 Dec 12 UTC
I still don't get your point. Are you saying that people from the UK are much less prone to being offended by other people's words? If you are, isn't that a great thing? Should we not celebrate the resilience of UK residents to hateful speech? If people can make insulting statements, but the audience doesn't give a shit, isn't that a good thing? I'd say it is...
Putin33 (111 D)
01 Dec 12 UTC
I'd say people in the UK aren't particularly bothered about fighting hate speech or racism in general.

Muted in a normal press game?
I need help with protocol. Before the S1901 moves and after only an initial greeting message I have been muted by another player such that no messages go through. Apparently no other player is experiencing this. Shouldn't that be against the rules? What recourse do I have? I am not interested in playing in this environment, but I do not want to have a "resign" on my record either.
