Unity of Command
I haven't bought the game yet, but looking at all the stuff around and the demo, this game looks damned fun. Anyone else play it?

It seems to me that in this game Persia and Greece are controlled by the same person/close friends, despite it being a gunboat game they are cooperating... not attacking each other, AT ALL, and supporting holds on each other. It is very suspicious.

I'm quite proud of how I handled the game, especially the early stages. England never recovered from that convoy to Yorkshire, which gave me the boost I needed. France couldn't make his mind what to do with Belgium, another plus. I knew Russia was a good player, but I wouldn't give an inch. The key year was 1908, when I caught Russia unawares. France eventually CD'd, but only after making huge mistakes. If he didn't CD, it might have been a draw, but I doubt it.

Yeah, I get the feeling that brainbomb likes experimenting.
Germany hasn't caught Russia unawares,Russia threwed the game to Germany.

Zmaj still hasn't caught on to the huge amount of luck involved in live gunboat games i see... *sigh*
You see Zmaj, right off the bat you got ENORMOUSLY lucky.
England saw you going for the three builds, but didnt do anything (move to Den, which happens most of the time when germany tries for three builds) Not only that, italy opened to Piedmont, and France does a very stupid opening.
From the get-go, you had the game, from sheer chance. Now, I am not against you winning, or you making the threads. What I dont understand is you act as though there is no luck involved at all. And, ESPECIALLY when you are against splitdiplomat, You always act as though it was a one on one fight.
Now, this is way too much writing to be wasting on this, but I had to do it :)

You're right, achillies. I had chance on my side. But that doesn't depend on me, does it? So I don't mention it. The only thing I can control are my own moves and I'm very satisfied with how I played. You often come into my threads with comments like the one above, so I guess you dislike me.

Shantih, Shantih, Shantih...RIP Valerie Eliot, Wife and Editor of T.S. Eliot
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/13/arts/valerie-eliot-wife-and-editor-of-ts-eliot-dies-at-86.html?_r=0
Sad...she led a great life, and did a lot to look after Eliot's legacy and letters after he died in 1965, and 86 is a great, full life...but it's still sad to know such a long-standing link to the greatest poet and critic in the English language of the last century (and a hero of mine nearly on par with Shakespeare) is gone.

Things that sound so good, that you ignore facts in opposition
The election threads about the Repubs convincing themselves that Romney would win even though the numbers were against them got me thinking of this. List stuff that people love to spout and believe because it makes them feel good about their choices.
