Replacement needed!
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=87273#gamePanel

Austria was banned for multi. Would be great if someone replace him. The positio is definitely playable and would really help balance out the game. Anybody would be greatly appreciated!

Playing Italy
I am not looking for specific advise, as I don´t play Italy at the moment. But I realized the other day that it is an interesting country to play. Quite weak, but interesting. If you back the wrong horse, you´re screwed. What, in your opinion, are the most enterprising tactics with Italy?

Process cycle
Can't find it in the FAQ, so I post it here. I just joined a live game, which I rarely do. Now it says: "7 players joined; game will start on next process cycle". How do I know when it starts? When is this next process cycle?

Why, Arizona...Why IS IT You Keep Doing/Allowing These Things In Your State?
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/lady-sorrows-ariz-baseball-team-forfeits-state-title-041333504.html
OK, that's it--Kicking out Mexicans, banning ethnic literature, discussing a bill to fire women who take contraceptives, and now...a team forfeiting a baseball game rather than play a team with a girl because "the sexes should be educated separately." OK, that's it, Arizona--I officially give up on you as a state. Mexico--you can have it back!

The most imcompetently played Gunboat I've had the non pleasure to participate in. No orders submitted by the game's namesake to allow a solo. Pathetic.

Should I be suspicious?
Both of the last 2 games I have joined in the past week filled their remaining spots within minutes. In one of the games three 'players' joined the exact same minute and in the other at least three joined within a few minutes of each other. I am not accusing anyone, I am not going to mention the name of the games, but it sure seems likely this is the same person with multiple accounts. I want to exit the games, but I don't want to just sacrifice my points. What is my recourse?

and yet another noob question
Dear fellows,
seems like my skills rusted more than I thought, but I really dont understand why my attack from Sil with support from War on Pru didnt succeed in this game:

I think i messed up while i was fighting for a stalemate line with turkey... he gained a lot of ground on me there... either way i am happy that i won, with no civil disorders in my half of Europe...

Are you Zmal or SplitDiplomat? Did you win due to a CD?
If not, then you probably won't get any criticism tonight. :)

Sounds like a plan.
That endgame was impressive. Looked like Turkey had the inner track right up until the very end.
zultar (4180 DMod(P))

My take on this, achillies, is that the outcome would have perhaps been different if Turkey had moved his fleets TyrS-Wmed and Ion-Tunis in spring 1910 and then to Nafr and MAO in the fall. He didn't need them to convoy an army as much as he needed more fleets to contest MAO, Spain and Mars.

Probably, for the last few years, i was just going for a draw... it might have been a draw instead.
Victorious (768 D)

I think your lucky Turkey allowed you to get Spain and Marsailles both. I wonder why you disbanded the army in Venice in 08. Also, if you did not had to disband that army in Ukraine in 08 but moved back to Moskow (and the moscow unit to livonia) you would have known you had a stalemate that could keep moscow, making sure you would win.

Thanks for the help.

Turkey messed up Spring 1912 and gifted you a win, with a more experienced player this would've been a 2-way draw. But don't let that take anything away from your win, you planned well both strategically and tactically. I thought you left Moscow undefended a little too long for my liking, you probably should have deposited an army in StP earlier to hold it. But those are little things you pick up once you've completed a win with every country. Congratulations on the win!

Thanks, and youre right, i should have gotten something in st petes/ livonia, thats what i tried to do when i moved warsaw to livonia, i didnt expect it to work though... but thanks for letting me know.
Victorious (768 D)
16 May 12 UTC
dont think i said you didnt played it well. But my remark about Ukraine was to point out you could have had that unit in livonia a few years earlyer. In 1908, you know your enemy is probably good enough to hit on your weak spots.
Also, the remark about the army in Venice is a real question. What thoughts went trough your head the moment you disbanded that unit, instead of moving it to piemond (or Apulia)
achillies27 (100 D)
16 May 12 UTC
I disbanded it because i figured that i could use a unit at the back to help create a stalemate line, and i know that you didnt mean that i didnt play well, i made the thread for the criticism, i would like to get better....
yeah, as i said in the first post, i knew i made some mistakes in the east while i was trying to hold him back...
Victorious (768 D)
16 May 12 UTC
ok. The reason i asked is because you both ware racing toward Spain and Marseille at that moment. If you would have chosen to retreat to Piemond, you would have delayed his moves because your army was between them. So that made your win depending on him making mistakes, instead on ensuring your own victory.
achillies27 (100 D)
16 May 12 UTC
Yeah, but there i was just rying to make sure that i got a draw, i only went for the win in the last year or 2...
Victorious (768 D)
16 May 12 UTC
Yes, but a key thing in this game is movement. The moment you disband a unit at the frontline, you have to move it al the way from your home centres to your borders. And at that moment, you traded a unit on a usefull position for an army in munich you didnt had real use for in the next 2 years.
achillies27 (100 D)
16 May 12 UTC
yeah, as i said, but the main thing is that i was sort of flipping out trying to keep turkey from winning...
achillies27 (100 D)
17 May 12 UTC
As I was flipping out, I made a few blunders, thank you for the advice though.

Balance of Power: How to learn it?
I went over my recent games where I lost, and it seems I'm not that good at correctly assessing power balance and thus allow solo's and the such.
What suggestions do you have regarding assessing power balance?
