Is there something seriously wrong with the live game thread? Recently, theres been a truckload of threads for live games drowning the forum. threadID=579977 "Utilize this thread by posting new live games here and only here."

Please stop posting live game threads, it is generally considered spam and continued offences will get you banned from the site.

I'm sorry your highness but I'm not aware of any rule that prevents you from posting a thread for a live game, especially one that's not starting imminently. To say that I could get banned for it is not only threatening but also incorrect. Thank you for pointing out the live game thread to me, but i do not think the tone you used to great new members of the site does it any credit whatsoever.

There is no rule Dizzy, however it makes many members of the community very angry. Shock is incorrect - this will not get you banned. (Although, if I had my druthers, it would)

Personally, I have a policy to refuse to join any live games advertised outside that thread. I don't know if other members of the community do or not, but if you'd like to start one, that thread is the most effective way of doing it.

While its true you won't get banned for posting live games outside the live games thread, you should feel safe in knowing that the people who play live games often troll that thread just as often, and might not even notice a stray post in another thread about an upcoming live game.

Also, just a tip, but if and when you create live games if you make a longer join phase, you might get more of a response and you yourself will feel less rushed.

@ Lando: I do that because back when we didn't have that thread, things were terrible. Quite literally half the posts on the forum were live game advertisements.

As for my other policies, (Namely that I don't play PPSC, I don't play non-anon, and I don't play live games that aren't gunboats) PPSC is a horrid variant, I don't believe in metagaming, and I don't think you have enough time to diplome in a live game.

Yeah i was around before the live game thread as well. Fun times.

But you also have policies around people who ask for pauses/cancels in the forum and not respecting those requests.

Cancels I will tolerate in extreme moderation. It's when people get emotional about it that I object to. Anything beyond a factual statement of "This game should be cancelled because of reason XYZ", and I will refuse to cancel that game.

Pauses are fine, as long as it's not a live game. But you shouldn't ask for a pause in any live game, that's just stupid.

My apologies Dizzy, I have been very frustrated as of late due to live games threads everywhere (I thought you were a certain individual who has recently joined). However, I was technically not incorrect about this getting you banned. If you completely drown the forum with about 20 adverts you can get banned for spamming. (which is what I meant by "continued offences")
