E-mail updates
Hi all. I'm sure that there is a way to do this and I feel a little silly making a thread to ask, since this is probably a stupid question, but I can't seem to find any information on it. Is there a way to receive email notifications when I've been messaged in-game or when a phase is close to ending? Thanks in advance for any help!

Potential bug
Not really sure what this is but I just finished a game (4-way draw) where one player was in CD. It seems they must have come back right as the game drew because they show up as neither resigned nor draw, but rather as if they are still playing. Its weird.

How do I contact a mod?
I'm in a game where a certain player is stalling the game because we paused it (for another guy who would be away) and when the person got back, we tried to unpause and someone won't unpause it. It's been about a week since we all voted except him.

Persia won't unpause. Does this seem like an appropriate situation to bring in a mod, or should I wait?

One more question
Can you change the color of the pieces to identify who has what where more easily? Starting out is easy enough but I can see myself getting screwed up down the line.

The current map is not customisable.

Thats unfortunate and a little suprising.... will have to get my board out and cat proof it somehow...lol

Whenever you move to a territory, THE TERRITORY
Troodonte (3379 D)
13 Jan 11 UTC
ops....pressed tab and enter... bad idea

... The territory changes it colour to your colour. even if it is a SC and it is Spring (before you actually conquer it) it will have a square with your colour next to the unit... so it is easy to see where you are and what you have.

@Kelsmyth - I had the same issue when I started playing on this site. I found the map a little hard to get used to. My solution was to use a separate program (I use jDip) with a map I like better to record all the moves as they happen. Does it take a little more time? Sure. But it's cat proof.
Probably less time than a board would.

@troodonte, the question is not how to see the colours but how to change them...
Troodonte (3379 D)
13 Jan 11 UTC
I believe he wanted to change the colours of the armies and fleets... not the colours of the territories...
My point is that if you have the territories fully coloured why do you need coloured pieces?
steephie22 (182 D(S))
13 Jan 11 UTC
i think it just goed about the colour from the whole country...
Troodonte (3379 D)
13 Jan 11 UTC
Unless he is color-blind that shouldn't be a problem...

But I still think that he meant the pieces: "Can you change the color of the pieces".

I imagine that as he has zero games played he didn't know that all territories change colour when you move into it... that doesn't happen i JDip...that's why the pieces are coloured.
To be honest, I don't think I have played in a easier board as here when it concerns to understand where you are and what you control...
Try stabbeurfou.org... it much more difficult imho
Alderian (2425 D(S))

Each countries' pieces do have their own color. Armies are green and black surrounded by a square of the country's color while Fleets are gray and black surrounded by a square of the country's color. Of course the square of color is masked when the territory is the same color.

Once you get into a game it isn't difficult to keep track. Just look at the color around the unit and you know whose unit it is.

I'm partially color-blind, and it's only very rarely a problem...sometimes becomes dicey on World and definitely on some variants, especially telling between blues and greens and reds and oranges when there's a wide variety of them.
Alderian (2425 D(S))

If you use FireFox, I believe there are add-ons that allow you to tweak specific colors. Try to search for "color blind" within the FireFox add-ons.

Who should be the dictator of the United State of America?
Now that it has been proven in various threads that democracy does not work, and that a dictatorship is the best option, who should it become the supreme commander of the free world? Nominations now open.

Thank you for your continued patience as the games finally start. I am aware that some games have 10 phases. I was forced to increase the phase length because people were unable to join in a timely fashion. Once the games have started, they will be reset to 25 hours. Please do not cancel the games. You'll all just get a little extra diplomacy time the first round.
