E-mail updates
Hi all. I'm sure that there is a way to do this and I feel a little silly making a thread to ask, since this is probably a stupid question, but I can't seem to find any information on it. Is there a way to receive email notifications when I've been messaged in-game or when a phase is close to ending? Thanks in advance for any help!

Potential bug
Not really sure what this is but I just finished a game (4-way draw) where one player was in CD. It seems they must have come back right as the game drew because they show up as neither resigned nor draw, but rather as if they are still playing. Its weird.

How do I contact a mod?
I'm in a game where a certain player is stalling the game because we paused it (for another guy who would be away) and when the person got back, we tried to unpause and someone won't unpause it. It's been about a week since we all voted except him.

Persia won't unpause. Does this seem like an appropriate situation to bring in a mod, or should I wait?

Can you change the color of the pieces to identify who has what where more easily? Starting out is easy enough but I can see myself getting screwed up down the line.

Who should be the dictator of the United State of America?
Now that it has been proven in various threads that democracy does not work, and that a dictatorship is the best option, who should it become the supreme commander of the free world? Nominations now open.

Thank you for your continued patience as the games finally start. I am aware that some games have 10 phases. I was forced to increase the phase length because people were unable to join in a timely fashion. Once the games have started, they will be reset to 25 hours. Please do not cancel the games. You'll all just get a little extra diplomacy time the first round.

Snow
For those of you who have to deal with snow removal. What do you use?
Me, a wovel. Got it 2 years ago & I love it.

I hate fighting with a snow blower & having to get gas.

I use what they call a shovel. good workout and it costs like maybe $30 for a pretty nice one. I'm not in an area that gets tons of snow, maybe 5 feet a year, not totally sure
do you really have one of those? what's wrong with a regular shovel?
akilies (861 D)

just looked at the wovel- seems good unless the snow is quite heavy(wet) or if you have rockwalls bordering your driveway like myself

Saves your back & scoops a lot at 1 time. The big wheel does the work is a back saver.

akilies - "I'm not in an area that gets tons of snow, maybe 5 feet a year, not totally sure "

Yikes. Where I live a few inches a year is the norm, so not too much shoveling necessary.

I'm from Ottawa Canada, where something weird is happening, for the last 2 years all the snow is going south of us and we are getting very little. 3 years ago however the snow bank along our driveways were 9-10 feet high. I just use a shovel, because my driveway is not very big, and nothing works better when we have a heavy snow anyway.
The heaviest snows are usually just south of lake Ontario anyway. Among other places, obviously. But Ottawa isn't so much downwind form the Great Lakes.

I don't ever get more than a few inches, so I've decided that my method will be to put down a plastic sheet as the snow starts, and then just roll it off to one side :)

I've used a wovel, so I'll back IKE up. It really makes it so that your back doesn't hurt. I'm certainly not going to spend my scarce income on one though, so I stick to a shovel. Once I get a steady income, depending on where I live I would consider getting one though.

If i lived in upstate new york and had a big driveway, i could see that being worthwhile. cool idea at least. you'd definitely get chirped for it where i live on the northern side of the great lakes, though.

If you guys complain about the snow you're getting, come to Edmonton soon! This past weekend we got more snow than we typically get over the month of January.
We got around 20-30 cm.
Here is a picture I found.

Stop complaining about shovelling!

I use a blower. My grandfather was super good with machines and I worked with him a bit so I don't mind fiddling with them. Occasionally though its particularly obstinate and I have to use a shovel. That wovel looks pretty interesting though--never heard of them before. Is it metal or plastic?
jman777 (407 D)
12 Jan 11 UTC
Oh and where I live (CT, usa) we usually get between two (like last year) and 4 feet (like all the years before that).
IKE (3845 D)
12 Jan 11 UTC
@jman it's both. Shovel part & wheel are plastic, body is metal. Shovel part is like 2 feet wide. That's a lot of snow for 1 pass. More of a fling then a throw to save your back & use more of your shoulders. I don't want to sound like a commercial, just wanted to know what you used. Living in NE Ohio, we get our fair share of snow.
I have about a foot & a half I need to go shovel now.

if we call now do you add in a free one and strike through the 19.99 and say all we have to do is order with our credit cards so we can purchase them for the cost of shipping and handling? BUT WAIT there's more, call in the next 2 minutes and we'll add this one of a kind Wovel Spray, it keeps your wovel wheel running like new, but thats not all, use it on bikes, cars, stoves, or even your next door neighbors dog!!!
Caution: Wovel spray is not intended for human use, this is not a toy, keep away from stoves people, dogs, and open flame. Keep out of reach of inlaws.

Looks nice, but... $130?!?!? Umm... no thanks. I'd drop maybe $30 at most on it.

Having said that, I work my back out regularly (rowing machine), so after I use a shovel... my back doesn't hurt :P

We got a solid 20 inches of snow today, and I was VERY happy to have a blower. haha
