Have anyone here seen Disrict 9, G.I. Joe, and/or Transformers II
If so what is your opinion on those movie(s)?
airborne (154 D)
19 Aug 09 UTC
I haven't seen Disrict 9 yet
G.I. Joe reminded me a lot of the old cartoons, silly plot, good humour, and over the top action. A live cartoon; 3.5/5
Transformers II The movie was good but, the "Sex" humour was shoveled in and was pretty stupid. And the Transformers Angels? Please... 4/5

I've seen District 9. I've been anticipating it for months. So keep in mind, my expectations were VERY high....

It wasn't what I expected, but it was INCREDIBLE!! It's the first scifi I've seen in a while that makes you think, teaches a lesson, then gets in the action and sets up a sequel. I highly recommend it!
I saw District 9 last night. Excellent. Totally not what I expected from the trailers, the many teaser websites they put up, and so on. The CGI was amazing -- Jackson and WETA did some amazing things with Gollum, but it pales in comparison to what they've accomplished in D9. When the flick was over, I was amazed to realize I didn't think, "Oh, that's obviously a CGI effect" even once during the film, and having been in the multimedia production business, I'm normally pretty critical about that sort of thing.

You couldn't pay me to go see Transformers after the abortion that was the first one. But I hated the entire vapid, glare-filled, wooden-acting, twitch-oriented, plot-hole-riddled script experience of Star Trek, too, and it seems that everybody who loved that also loved Transformers.

Looking forward to GI Joe though, for no good reason at all...

I thought Transformers was absolute trash. The special effects were good, but there wasn't a great plot line, the movie was relatively predictable, and the attempt at suspense was too cheesy to make it a good movie.

Indeed I remember very clearly in the battle of Egypt...There was no Egyptians! Just a couple Syrian Coptors! That's just silly and the American MAC gun?

In fact any movie that attacks Obama instancly gets +2

Transformers was awful. It might have been OK at 90 minutes or so, but by the end of the two and a half hours I felt like hanging myself.

There are so many holes in the movie. Like how they go through an Egyptian-Jordanian checkpoint when Egypt and Jordan don't border each other, and the battle by the pyramids being in Jordan when Jordan has no pyramids, and why the Decepticons would bother with car robots when they can have people form, and why Shia LeBeouf's parents were kidnapped, and why Princeton is a party school, and why President Obama was in the movie, and why they made Obama look like a Decepticon lackey, and how that military force that works with the Autobots pretty much committed mutiny by going to Egypt-Jordan-whatever when they had an explicit order not to, and what happened to the little robots from the beginning, and so, so much more. It was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I'm glad District 9 is good. I can't wait to see that one.

District 9 was a very, very good movie.
I was first hooked by the engaging advertisements, and I made plans to go see it opening night. When I heard the fairly simplistic plot, I was worried that it would be only an action movie with only a sci-fi background.

There was a little truth to that-District 9 has lots of cool action, but the plot is engaging, and the best part of the movie is how real everything is. The special effects are perfect, and the documentary style makes you really believe that this could have happened.

PLus, the alien guns are really cool.

My friend's sister asked him if District 9 was based on a true story. She's 15.

I am so looking forward to seeing District 9 at the end of the month. I'm a big fan of science fiction done documentary style. I mean, Cloverfield is what the disaster they called Godzilla (with Matthew "Ferris Bueller"/"I married a man-woman" Broderick) should have been.

@airborne:

GI Joe was really cool and I got what I wanted, which was an action-packed over-the-top cheese fest.

Transformers II was really cool and I got what I wanted, which was a movie about robots fighting other robots.

If you want a believable plot-line, character development, or even good acting ... these movies are not for you. I liked them because I knew what I was getting into.

Say I have a unit in Berlin. If Russia moves Silesia into Berlin with support from Prussia and I move Ruhr into Berlin with support from Holland. What happens if Berlin bumps Munich to break a support hold?

GUI improvements
can the My Games section also contain finished games like it used to?
the Search feature is great, but not so great in finding ones own games that were finished.

yes I know you can get there by looking at your own profile, but its just more intuitive via the My Games tab.

Move instead of Support
Say France has fleets in Lon and EngChann, and armies in Pic and Bur. Germany has armies in Bel, Ruhr, and Mun, a fleet in No.Sea. France is trying to capture Bel with Bur-Bel. So basically it's 4 on 3 on France's favor because Mun can't support Bel while Lon (France) can cut off German support from No.Sea. What if instead of supporting, Germany moves No.Sea-Bel, Bel hold, and Ruhr-Bel? That's 3 vs. 3 and no support is cut. Can Germany keep Bel that way?

Hey guys, consider joining the new game I created. ItalyGermanyAustria vs BrtainFrance vs RussiaTurkey. Usually alliances don't last, but I made it only 5 pts so that hopefully winning won't matter, but winning while sticking to the alliance will. It may have been tried before, but oh well.
