Hey Chrisp, Jon again.
You know how I took my friends account and banned the other one. Is there any way to get rid of the login cookie on my other account?

Cheating?
blitzkreig-2
Russia sounds off with offensive messages to e at the start. France offers support to me (england) to take russia down. However france stabs. Now russia has revealed that he and france are close friends in real life and planned it all out from the start. This is metagaming isn't it? How can I report this kind of thing, and can someone check that they are not also doing it elsewhere?

The Ashes
Anyone else watching? Any predictions?

England definitely recovered well from their terrible start, but if they're leading now it's not by much. A solid partnership here would be a big problem, and we're not bowling well at all at the moment :-(

I am a moderator in Facebook Diplomacy. Not sure how it works in this branch. But in facebook, I would ban Pimpernel. I advise not playing with him. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Moderators Unpause Please
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=11430&msgCountry=Global
In this game I am turkey and am clearly winning with 15 supply centers. Italy needed to leave for a week or so and so we paused for him and when he came back we all unpaused except my enemy germany who keeps logging on but refuses to unpause because i am crushing him and he wants a draw.

Live Game Anybody?!?
I was just wondering if anybody was feeling the diplomatic spirit tonight and wanted a live game? I'm going to place it with 24 hour turns, just so that if we don't finish that game we can finish it later

a /skip players turn toggle for players
something like this would eliminate disgruntled players from logging in just to make games go longer when they have lost
jasoncollins (186 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
They can just finalise whilst holding everything - what would be the benefit of doing this? I imagine disgruntled players don't want to return to the game regardless, and this is little better than a 'i want to quit' button (which we want to discourage).
Bitemenow10 (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
i have played a few games where when a player sees he is losing he logs into the game and doesent finalize his orders it makes turns last the maximum amount when everyone else is all ready to go
jasoncollins (186 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
And what makes you think the same player would hit a toggle that said 'skip turn' just for your conveniance? They obviously aren't finalising because they cant be bothered.
jasoncollins (186 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Im not being argumentative, and I think it is lame for people to do what you are describing, but i dont see how this will change anything (or be useful, apart from allowing people to jump ship when they want).
white sheppard (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
I think that some of you might have this the wrong way round ( or I might). The idea would seem to be that ALL the other players combined have this option to skip the lax player. I am not saying that I am for or against this yet as I only just read this strand.
Assuming that I am right then I would see the danger of the 2/3 state alliance using this near the back end of the game against the last other player.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
This is just all finalizing?
white sheppard (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Theory goes that disgrunteled player 7 streaches out the game. 6 players finalize number 7 with there 1/0 supply centre left logs in but does not finalize so other have to wait through retreat then build then next move maybe adding days to the game.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Well then, surely if player 7 is logging in and not finalizing then he wouldn't use the /skip command either?
white sheppard (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
True argument over
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Unless the idea is that the six other players can make the skip happen, which in itself is a bad idea.
white sheppard (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
that is the point that 6 out of 7 could carry out this order
white sheppard (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Sorry about my last comment we were typing at the same time.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Well thats horrible then because you could just use it to force out the leader!
Katsarephat (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
If you were only to enable it when the seventh player only has 1 or 0 centers, that takes care of the forcing out the leader problem.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
No, you shouldn't be able to force anyone out. Doing this essentially says "A player with 1 SC is lost" which isn't true.
Captain Dave (113 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
TGM, that's very true - just see my drawn game in the league!
Centurian (3257 D)

If you agree to X hours a turn, then you need to be prepared to wait X hours a turn. Regardless of how stupid the proposal is, thats the way it is.
aflyingchair (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
I think that you all have this wrong. I think what he meant was that the person could just type /skip once and he wouldn't have to log in at all on that game. Like going cd, but by typing /skip it is an auto-cd. It would make the turns go by quicker when someone cds. I personally hate when people cd and leave me waiting for 2 turns. I don't mind someone missing a turn but having to miss two or three is painful.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
08 Jul 09 UTC
If they are going to be so inconsiderate as to not even turn in moves, why would they be considerate enough to enter the /skip command?

Either way you interpret how this command would be used doesn't make sense to me.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
So now /skip == /quit?
We've had that conversation many times before...
Onar (131 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
I believe the original plan was to have all the other players vote /skip to skip over another players turn, if they're all finalised, but that player isn't. I assume if he isn't finalised, whatever valid orders he has would be enacted, while the rest hold.
Chrispminis (916 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Yeah, that's what I thought, and I don't think it's a good idea. It's too easily abused, and it doesn't solve any serious problem. Finalizing is just a way to make the phases go faster, but everyone is entitled to taking the full phase. Some people do it for decent reasons, and some people do it for dickish reasons. Avoid the dicks, and don't ostracize the decent ones.
Kompole (546 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
It could be useful if you don't have time at a particular stage of the game, but you know you'll be back later. It happened to me that I missed two turns and went in CD although I wanted to play later, someone already took my place... With this option you could prevent others from replacing you and you could continue playing your game. Comment please.
