blitzkreig-2
Russia sounds off with offensive messages to e at the start. France offers support to me (england) to take russia down. However france stabs. Now russia has revealed that he and france are close friends in real life and planned it all out from the start. This is metagaming isn't it? How can I report this kind of thing, and can someone check that they are not also doing it elsewhere?

The Ashes
Anyone else watching? Any predictions?

England definitely recovered well from their terrible start, but if they're leading now it's not by much. A solid partnership here would be a big problem, and we're not bowling well at all at the moment :-(

This is from a game ended back in January.

France (DollyDagger)
03 Jan 09 Autumn 1908: Russia are you active?

04 Jan 09 Autumn 1908: GameMaster: Brother in Arms has taken over Russia.

Russia (Brother in Arms)
04 Jan 09 Autumn 1908: Hey guys, I just saw that you wanted to draw this game...

France
04 Jan 09 Spring 1909: Yeah, we're up for it. We just need to eliminate Turkey first before the draw

Russia
04 Jan 09 Spring 1909: Ok, I finalized
A Arm - Ank (with support from Italy)
The whole rest hold.

Italy (Me)
04 Jan 09 Spring 1909: Support is there.
04 Jan 09 Spring 1909: Turkey, you want to go ahead and just issue your order, or do you want to mke us wait it out?

Russia
05 Jan 09 Spring 1909: France, is it fun to steal SCs at the end? I don't care and won't make a move. Do what you want.
05 Jan 09 Autumn 1909: /draw
05 Jan 09 Autumn 1909: GameMaster: Brother in Arms has voted for a draw.
Voted: Brother in Arms Remaining: DollyDagger,Draugnar,Pantalone.

France
05 Jan 09 Autumn 1909: What are you talking about? You didn't do jack in this game. You took over a CD that someone else put work into, so yeah we're attacking you.

Russia
05 Jan 09 Autumn 1909: That's not fair -- I put money in this game and it's part of the rules to take over a country in CD. I also told you that I won't move because I don't want to disturb your plans for a draw. So why do you attack me?

Me (My best ever "tongue-lashing" in a game.
05 Jan 09 Autumn 1909: Life is never fair, and Diplomacy is even less fair.
05 Jan 09 Autumn 1909: Oh, and you catually put (D) which are not to be confused with dollars or any other monetary note. It's strictly a point system to allow the better players to avoid the lousy and/or new ones if they so choose.

Several days later, we eliminated Turkey and this upstart who thought he could take away a third of our points...
10 Jan 09 /draw
10 Jan 09 GameMaster: Draugnar has voted for a draw.
Voted: Draugnar Remaining: DollyDagger.
10 Jan 09 /draw
10 Jan 09 GameMaster: DollyDagger has voted for a draw.
Voted: DollyDagger,Draugnar Remaining: . The vote has passed, and will be acted on within 5 minutes.

Dear Country B: Alliance against country A?

Dear Country B: Hey country B, country A is invading on opposite side of where my troops are, better move up.

And my favorite thing I did. I am Turkey in this.

1901: Hey Russia, DMZ Black sea and juggernaut?
1901: Dear Turkey, sounds good

1902: Ankara-> Black sea
Smyrna-> Armenia
Constantinople-> Bulgaria

not to quibble knights dawn, but the latter case is just lying, not diploming. lying can be part of diploming, but on its own doesn't get you too far.

Did that one once, even better is the one time I convinced both Germany AND France to support me into belgium.
Knights Dawn (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
No it was diplomacy, I had already convinced every country on the board to attack him except Italy and France. It is 1903 and he still doesn't have a build :)
Onar (131 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Actually, I also have a story from a FTF game, where I out-strategised my one friend who was playing as England, and I Russia. Suffice it to say, we made it to 1906, and he never got a single build. (Even when he took moscow!)

No he hasn't taken a SC, I kicked him out of Rumania in the spring so he couldnt finalize it, Germany has been screwing with Sweden. I should take Sevastopol soon.

@FriendlySword: And I preffer the term diprick (Diplomacy + prick)

I was playing a game as France recently where I copy/pasted chat logs and sent them to Austria and Russia, then edited all the text to imply they were attacking each other. Then I got Germany to leak to Russia that Austria was spilling the beans on Russia's plans.

After very intense discussions for a few turns, Italy/Austria/Russia decided to compared chat logs, in which Austria apparently kept exclaiming "He lied! He doctored the logs!"

I was very amused :)
jasoncollins (186 D)

Now Austria and Russia are attacking one another :p

And I think I can say this one now (game is still active, but this was a long time back in the game).

Playing as Austria, and I told Russia we should try to take Turkey out. I proposed that Russia ask for a dmz of the black sea with turkey, and then move in anyway - then for Russia to convoy troops to Armenia by the end of 1902 (from memory).

We needed to make sure Turkey wouldn't move into the Black Sea though, and I said I would take care of this - I sent Turkey messages along the lines of:

"Hi Turkey! How's the weather down there? Hope everythings well. We can work together and split up the balkans, but I haven't played as Austria before - do you have any suggestions?"

Then about 2 hours later (keep in mind, this was about 2am for him) "What, no response?"

He replied a few hours later again "Sorry, it was early morning for me and I hadn't logged on yet. Sounds great to me! You can take Greece and Serbia, and I'll take Rumania and Bulgaria and we can go from there".

I then replied "But I was really hoping to take Bulgaria actually - it seems a good place to attack Russia from".

He replied "The Balkans are already crowded enough already - why should I let you take Bulgaria, given it is on my border?"

I then replied "Well, we'll see when I get down there".

Leaving it at that, Turkey promptly moved along the coast and into Bulgaria, leaving Black Sea wide open for Russia and a strong alliance between Russia and I for the rest of the game - Turkey was the first player to die :)

I thought this especially amusing as using diplomacy to force someone to attack you, rather than keeping everyone happy!

Just make sure you spell everything how they do - for example, being an aussie, I use 's' rather than 'z' in words. Also, copy and paste their text first, so you don't have to come up with phony date stamps (you know they were on at that time!)

Moderators Unpause Please
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=11430&msgCountry=Global
In this game I am turkey and am clearly winning with 15 supply centers. Italy needed to leave for a week or so and so we paused for him and when he came back we all unpaused except my enemy germany who keeps logging on but refuses to unpause because i am crushing him and he wants a draw.
