Hey Chrisp, Jon again.
You know how I took my friends account and banned the other one. Is there any way to get rid of the login cookie on my other account?

Any UFC fans on this site? If so name your picks for the big three bouts coming up
Mir vs. Lesnar, St. Pierre vs. Alves, and Bisping vs. Henderson.
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))

I'll start it off by going with Mir by submission, St. Pierre by decision, and Henderson by KO/TKO.

I'm going with Mir by submission, Alves by TKO, and Bisbing by TKO. Although I would much rather see St. Pierre and Henderson win!

Man... I was thinking about posting this....
Lesnar's gonna hammerfist Frank Mir to oblivion. GSP vs Alves... I can't tell...
And Henderson's gonna DESTROY Bisping. Henderson is just all around better. And plus, Henderson was in Pride. More experience.

really? Lesnars been conditioning like crazy. He's gonna be fitter than his fight withcouture

His fight with Couture was good, but Couture is old, Lesnar just overpowered him. I'm not questioning Lesnar's conditioning or striking power, but Mir is a craftier fighter, and Lesnar got caught by him last time they fought.
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
I think Lesnar will be better prepared this time. He'll squash Mir.
amonkeyperson (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
No, Lesnar was over eager in that fight. He knows that. He's going to more in focus now.
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))
08 Jul 09 UTC
No doubt Lesnar wants to avenge his loss, but with the title on the line, I don't think he has the experience to really bring it when he has to. I'd like to see him win, but I think Mir's experience and submission ability will make the difference for him.
wydend (0 DX)
08 Jul 09 UTC
yeah I think the Lesnar/Mir fight will end similar to the last one. Lesnar will be winning, get too aggressive and then get caught in like a heel hook, or arm bar.
amonkeyperson (100 D)

What about Fitch and thiago? What do you guys think about that?
I think Fitch is gonna destroy. Like Henderson, he's too well rounded for Thiago.
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))
08 Jul 09 UTC
Fitch has game, I'd expect him to win, but it won't go the distance.
wydend (0 DX)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Yes I agree. Fitch is too good for Thiago

I just watched the first lesnar-Mir fight.
Ok lets be real, Mir got two lives in that match. The ref decided that lesnar was punching the back of Mir's head, mir got as much time as he wanted, then he got lesnar to submit.Brock would have triggered a tko of the ref wasn't an idiot.
amonkeyperson (100 D)

Lesnar is on his way to being a UFC Legend. Mir is only a stepping stone.

I'd enjoy UFC and MMA in general more if there wasn't so much god awful ground fighting. Yeah, I get it, it's a very effective way to fight man on man in a designated area and you can't avoid fighting on the ground, but it's so boring to see two men 69'ing each other for 5 minutes.

I much prefer striking and stand-up fighting, such as with kickboxing, such as with K-1.
amonkeyperson (100 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
The people that have these kind of point of views are the people that don't really know how superior and amazing it is compared to striking and stand up and clinching etc. The best way to understand something like that is to learn it and try it out for yourself.

"but it's so boring to see two men 69'ing each other for 5 minutes."
I hate it when people say things like this. It demeans the style and and effects how other people view it. I admit, when I first saw real wrestling, I was disgusted, and I was also ten years old. But i've tried out my ground game on friends and it feels absolutley amazing. Any gay thoughts would instantly disapear, and I would almost see a birds eye view of us, try to find each limb and manipulate the other person by using their limbs to your advantage. Only people who have done this will really understand what I'm saying.

I know what you mean, because the feeling of choking someone out with a rear naked choke while you use your legs to crush their ribcage and stop their breathing is a pretty kickass feeling:]

And breaking their AC Joint and making them sit on a couch for 2 weeks. That's a really good feeling too ;]

"But i've tried out my ground game on friends and it feels absolutley amazing." When you say things like that, I begin to wonder. I'm just kidding though, I think the aspect of the ground game is the most exciting part of the UFC. You never know when its going to get taken to the ground, and then it becomes almost a chess match if the guys are good wrestlers.
Chrispminis (916 D)
08 Jul 09 UTC
Oh, I've wrestled with my brother and friends before. It's a lot of fun, extremely tiring, and very satisfying, and yes, no homosexual thoughts enter the mind. My comment was tongue in cheek. I still have to say, that as a spectator sport, the ground fighting is much less entertaining than say, boxing or kickboxing.

I've got a decent amount of martial arts experience, I'm a second dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and I've recently taken up kickboxing. Maybe I'm biased because I've always been better at striking than wrestling, but striking is just so much faster and exciting than ground fighting, at least to watch. It's harder to practice striking with friends and family, but I also encourage you "to learn it and try it out for yourself."
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))
09 Jul 09 UTC
Ground fighting is harder to watch because you have to know what to look for, and its hard to tell when someone is doing something right. Whereas with striking, when someone kicks someone in the face and knocks them out cold, its pretty obvious who won and what they did right. I personally love watching wrestling because I feel I can appreciate it more than most people, and striking is stereotypically seen as more brutal and less technical, making it pretty exciting, but not requiring a lot of skill or experience to watch and appreciate a stand up war.
And Monkey, maybe if you learned how to use your weight advantage properly, I wouldnt have sprained your AC joint:P
amonkeyperson (100 D)
09 Jul 09 UTC
Maybe if we weren't on hard land instead matts it wouldn't have happened. But that's no one fault. You took me to the ground, and the ground was hard.
Chrispminis (916 D)
09 Jul 09 UTC
Really? Striking is stereotypically seen as more brutal and less technical? I know that UFC striking skills make me sad, but less technical?

Also, wrestling on cement is crappy. When people talk about how ground fighting is more practical than striking because you can't avoid going to the ground, they always neglect to point out that setting is extremely important, and in a street fight, you don't want to go to the ground because it's hard, there's broken glass and crap, and it's especially bad if you're outnumbered or they're armed.
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))
09 Jul 09 UTC
Most of the guys in the UFC are in it because they want the challenge of a fair fight against an equal weighted opponent at a scheduled time with rules to follow, and a punishment if the rules are broken. It's not about practicality on the streets, its about two guys willing to leave it all in the cage and push each other to the limit to see who is the better fighter.

Russia sounds off with offensive messages to e at the start. France offers support to me (england) to take russia down. However france stabs. Now russia has revealed that he and france are close friends in real life and planned it all out from the start. This is metagaming isn't it? How can I report this kind of thing, and can someone check that they are not also doing it elsewhere?

The Ashes
Anyone else watching? Any predictions?

England definitely recovered well from their terrible start, but if they're leading now it's not by much. A solid partnership here would be a big problem, and we're not bowling well at all at the moment :-(
