What is the most supply centers gained in a game? (that has 1 winner)
I'm about to get 24 guaranteed, maybe 26 depending.
This is the game.

It makes no sense to get more than 18 centers

Do you even get any extra points for getting over 18?
trim101 (363 D)

in ppsc im guessing you do

I don't think you do.

No, you don't get more points - and it makes no sense.
The goal of the game it to reach 18 (50%+). It is assumed that afterwards you can go on and kill everyone else if you want to - and there's no bonus for it.
It's like kicking to death someone lying unconscious on the ground - quite the achievement :)
You should not do this.
Friendly Sword (636 D)

You are guaranteed 23 centres

St. Petersburg
Warsaw
Berlin

Do the extra points just disappear then?

This question is merely a chance to show off. I'm glad that everyone has argued that it is not a good thing at the arrogant fool!

I'm not sure if that's all gramatically correct, but what the hell? It was heartfelt!

There area couple stalemate lines that defend less than 17 centres so its entirely possible for someone to have 18 but still not be able to "kick you around".

What will the division of points for said game be?
For a couple things, Kiel is guaranteed when i move Belgium to Holland, nothing can stop that.
Second, those who call me "arrogant fool" and say its not something to be proud of, I don't care about pride. I wanted to know if it was a record. That's really it. Haters, stop please, do something productive. If anyone knows, just say so. It's nothing for you all to argue about. Yes, its the record. No, someone else has more. Simple.
Thank you for whomever gives me the answer.

I don't know the answer for this site, but I've seen about 22ish. It's physically possible to win with all 34 SC if you've got some countries in civil disorder or helping you out.

As a side note, it's seems quite apparent that two of your opponents: Latin and schnurstrax are meta-gaming. All four of their games are together. They seem to be allied in all four and log in times and IPs are rather damning evidence. On the bright side, it appears their cheating has been no help as they are losing 3 of the 4 games badly.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
19 Nov 08 UTC
I believe in his early days WonderLlama got all 34?
It wasn't too long ago (even in the days of the point system) that you needed 18 units to win a game, meaning as long as your home SC's were occupied the game didn't finish.
Tetra0 (1448 D)

actually, even if you got 18 centers, there's no guarantee that you could take the rest of the board. England can hold a 14 center stalemate line, so even if you get 20 centers, you can't assume that the player could dominate the board afterwards.
Centurian (3257 D)
20 Nov 08 UTC
Turkey can hold a 13 centre one!
philcore (317 D(S))
20 Nov 08 UTC
So battle_chief - you can now answer the question for everyone now that the game is over and you got 26. did you get 103/26 pts or 103/18 pts. I'm betting on 26, I think you get credit for each SC.
dangermouse (5551 D)
20 Nov 08 UTC
Actually, Turkey can hold out with just 6 SC (Con, Ank, Smy, Tun, Spa, Por) if they're facing Germany and/or England.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
20 Nov 08 UTC
That assumes that Germany-England are stuck on the north Coast yes? I'm interested by the exact details of that though. Is it:
Units in Const,Armenia & North Africa
Fleets in Portugal & Western Med supporting Fleet Spain
-----
Philcore: the rules changed some time back, you did used to get points for each SC
figlesquidge (2131 D)
20 Nov 08 UTC
Oh, and England can hold just 4 SC's, with 3 units, assuming StP,Germany&Brest cannot build fleets:
Fleets Portugal& Irish/English/NAO support MAO
So how exactly does that work out then? The winner of a PPSC automatically gets points for the 18 centres it takes to win, then the rest of the points are divided up evenly according to the amount of centres left?

So say you win with 20 centres or some number like that. You would only get points for 18, and then the rest of the points would be divided up evenly for the other 14 centres left?

Most difficult long term alliances?
I'm curious which two-way alliances people think are the hardest to maintain long term. They either don't offer enough room for expansion or require that extra bit of trust that's so hard to establish or whatever.

For me the most difficult to maintain seems to be the Italian-Turkish alliance; followed closely by a German-English alliance.

The subject is very self explanatory, though I have tried playing diplomacy with friends I have never been successful and now I want to try it without the biases that come with knowing your opponent before hand. So, anyone one up for a nice simple game of 25 point buy in?

If the Seven Star Trek Captains played php, who would win?
Simple premise: if the Seven captains in Trek were to sit down and play a game, who would win? Th first five captains are obvious: Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, and Archer, the captains from the different series. The other two became captains, and were 1st officers: Spock and Riker.

Ending Games
Is it possible to end games were there is an effective stalemate or all players have grown tired of a particular game? In a scenario with 3 players left with 14, 12 and 8 supply points respectively in a PPSC game, where a draw was called, how would the points be divided?

Alias Usernames To Keep Games Independent
When a player enters a game, there may be players who know him from previous games. Or they may check his previous games for whether he is a reliable ally or a stabber. I believe this is counter-productive to the idea of having each game stand on its own. Metagaming, or negotiating between games, is frowned upon. Using prior history should be viewed as having an equally negative effect on having a free-standing and independent game.
