The only thing I can think of is something where the only SC they can build at is a DMZ. Anything else?

I need to find a replacement to play the last three games of this group. I did find one, but because the thread has shot off the bottom, with me being a muppet and not noting down the email, it is lost to me.

Unattended retreat ?
What happens if a unit is dislodged and the player misses the retreat phase? Will the adjuicator disband the unit or retreat it? (The reason I ask is I'm playing in a Retreats Disband variant.)

Another rules query
I know that when a unit (A) attacks another (B) it cuts any support that B is offering, whether to a move or a hold. Is this still the case if A is attacked from elsewhere? Does it make any difference if A is dislodged by the attack?

If I was to attack a territory (call it A) with strength 3 i.e. 1 unit attacking (B) and 2 supporting the attack (C & D) and the opponent attacks unit C with A and has another army (E) in support of this attack. What happens?

Notice
I decided to start using my real name(Sioraf as Killeens) when playing here and since I can't rename the CJ 92 account I am going to finish the games CJ 92 is in with the CJ 92 account and then let it get removed from the site or whatever then use only the Sioraf as Killeens account. I think this is fair because I have never used both accunts in the same game.

I have question for are European friends and other persons living in nations that are more open with alcohol "for human consumption". Paticularly age limits. The U.S. as you know has long history of proabition and that has caused more harm than good. Is alcoholism, drunk driving and etc as much a problem there as it is here?

How to handle verbal and racial abuse.
Such as: "well fuck off then you miserable pommy idiot!"
Suggestions please. I don't know the site policy.

I'm a pommy living in Australia, contributing to the economic boom it's experiencing :-) I wouldn't be too worried, we're all pommies if you go back far enough, let us know if this part of a continuous chain of offensive insults
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

Just ignore it, and at the end of the game, write "There is no place for profanity in any press."

Of course, if you want to respond in like kind, he is probably Australian so there is plenty of choice available.

It's an "offensive" term that some Australians call us Brits. I don't really take offense by it but I see no need for the swearing.

My dad's an Aussie and he's never called me a pom...
kestasjk (64 DMod(P))

I think it means Prisoner Of her Majesty, which is ironic since recent English immigrants to Australia aren't prisoners whereas old immigrants were :-)
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

pommy is Australian slang for an Englishman, derogatory.
scaael04 (100 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
@Kestas - It's actually short for pomengaranate apparently.

I remembered reading in the QI Book of Genrel ignorance so I looked it up. I read this:
"Pomegranate is a near enough rhyme to immigrant"

Now there is a converstion starter.
Archonix (246 D)

I wonder if it essence was mocking Cockney Rhyming Slang.
hmmm... do we have an equivalent term in america or the british?
trim101 (363 D)

it actually was what the english convicts called themselves, you yanks call us limeys becuase are sailors used to eat limes to keep scurvy away

As to the original comment paulg - do not discuss ongoing games! Its against the rules on the site you used to play on :P

Seriously though, I'd say tough it out. You may be offended by his less than appropriate conduct but just let your in-game actions reflect that. If the player talks like that to more people than just you he will clearly alienate himself. If it offends you to the point where you really can't stand dealing with him you can cut contact - stop flipping to his tab and forget about him.

Considering most mature people are able to withstand such abuse you could also try to just forget about it and move on. It doesn't happen very often on the site and isn't really worth bothering yourself about.

Any unusual Brit slang for the Colonies/Colonists? Us Canadians sometimes call ourselves 'Canucks' and the Quebecois 'Frogs' (no idea why). Never heard 'pommy' before! (I learn something new everyday on here, lol)
Archonix (246 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
I'm pretty sure that 'frog' has been used as a derogatory term for French by the British for centuries. I'm guessing that that's where that started :P

I really detest the bad language and the personal attacks.
Depending on what I suspect the age of the individual I may react in different ways from paternalistic/moralistic/Grandfather/mentor/patronizing to simply ignoring it and going to wipe him out.
In between is one technique where you keep the pressure up on him and work around his bluster/crudeness and then when you finally wipe him out ,by which time you are somewhat talking normally and then mention that
the next time you play and he is tempted to curse and insult someone, think about what would he do if he was playing over a friends house with you?

Frogs I always assumed come from the French delicacy 'Frog's Legs'. In return I've heard they refer to English as 'Roast Beefs'... though don't think it's in as much general usage in France as 'froggies' is in UK (and Canada).

scaael04, why is it offensive to call someone from the UK a Brit?
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
23 Oct 08 UTC
It was just first used in a derrogatory manner. We Brits decided just to send people up for using it and used it ourselves.

Did I say it was an ongoing game? I didn't give a reference. And I actually still play on that site. I have found elsewhere that when I do retaliate it is me who gets in trouble. In other words there are some people who know just how far they can go. Alas, if I retaliate I have to do better, which sometimes gets me in trouble. So, obviously, I'll ignore it.
trim101 (363 D)

@spyman its not offensive but i for one prefer to be called english and im sure its the same for the scots/welsh/n irish
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

why the hell do british people consider every person from america a yank and seriously whats up with the cheeseburger insult its so lame. not everyone in america is fat and/or likes cheeseburgers.

i do find it funny that england is the only place you can go to McDonalds and drop 5 pounds. (0.o) tehehe...i made a funny
scaael04 (100 D)
23 Oct 08 UTC
@ spyman - I never said Brit was an offensive term. I said:
It's an "offensive" term that some Australians call us Brits.

What I mean is:
Pommy is an offensive term that some Australians call us British.

But I see the reason for confusion reading back on it.
scaael04 (100 D)

I jsut shortened British to Brit.
trim101 (363 D)
23 Oct 08 UTC
"why the hell do british people consider every person from america a yank " because thats what you are, made your version of the word yank is different from ours we just mean american when we saying not yankee i.e northern state which is what americans take it to mean
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

However not fat some people in the colonies may be, I calculated recently that, although America made up only 4.5% of the global population, it makes up at least 7% of the global human body mass....

Attention! All games where someone has gone into CD with 0 supply centres report in!
Lets imagine it... your in the middle of an exciting game and you've technically just eliminated someone, but they are too chicken to finalize that last retreat or destroy order. These games are free to take over, so im on a personal mission to take over these unwanted positions and finalize that final order. I know this will add to my number of losses (will it?), but im feeling nice and everyone wants these games to move on.
