The only thing I can think of is something where the only SC they can build at is a DMZ. Anything else?

Leagues- Group E
I need to find a replacement to play the last three games of this group. I did find one, but because the thread has shot off the bottom, with me being a muppet and not noting down the email, it is lost to me.

Unattended retreat ?
What happens if a unit is dislodged and the player misses the retreat phase? Will the adjuicator disband the unit or retreat it? (The reason I ask is I'm playing in a Retreats Disband variant.)

Another rules query
I know that when a unit (A) attacks another (B) it cuts any support that B is offering, whether to a move or a hold. Is this still the case if A is attacked from elsewhere? Does it make any difference if A is dislodged by the attack?

If I was to attack a territory (call it A) with strength 3 i.e. 1 unit attacking (B) and 2 supporting the attack (C & D) and the opponent attacks unit C with A and has another army (E) in support of this attack. What happens?

Notice
I decided to start using my real name(Sioraf as Killeens) when playing here and since I can't rename the CJ 92 account I am going to finish the games CJ 92 is in with the CJ 92 account and then let it get removed from the site or whatever then use only the Sioraf as Killeens account. I think this is fair because I have never used both accunts in the same game.

Any Hockey Fans Out There?
Probably not the most appropriate place to be posting this, but are there any hockey fans out there? If so who's your favourite team? Just interesting to find out who pays attention to it around the world...

The League
This is extremely enjoyable gameplay. Good players make all the difference. To show my appreciation, I will henceforth refer to all participants by their hockey nicknames.

Thank you for all of your hard work, Ghosty.

I'm honoured. Thank you.
Xapi (194 D)

Our games are very very good too. As a relatively new player who has never had over 150 points, its great to be able to play with some good/great/incredible players and be certain that they won't go CD.

Group C is ridiculously strong.
Gobbledydook (1389 D(B))
22 Oct 08 UTC
Ridiculously strong indeed, especially when you have a non-communicating enemy half-way into your homeland. Actually, not halfway, but...
dangermouse (5551 D)

Group C somehow has all 3 moderators.

Hmmm, I better hurry up and ban my two counterparts before they can do it to me.

Where are info about the League available?
Xapi (194 D)

What were the odds of that happening?
Chrispminis (916 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
Indeed, enjoyable play. It's interesting to see strong competition. Do people find that the more competitive the game, the longer it tends to go on?
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
mac, in general, from me.
alamothe (3367 D(B))

mac, you're not into any league. why don't you apply for a replacement in league E?

> Group C is ridiculously strong.

what?? that statement is ridiculous. just look at our group E, it is twice as strong
thewonderllama (100 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
i dunno alamothe, i consider dangermouse and flashman to be among the top players of the site, i find your statement just as ridiculous. :)
thewonderllama (100 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
ah, didn't mean to forget chrispminis. three of the heavy hitters. that's a rather stacked deck if you ask me.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
And four if you weren't so Modest. Xapi is by on means weak either.

All Groups are very strong. I am no more than the fourth in my league, which should be saying something (I hope)

group E:
destp 30% win percentage, 23% playing
Ivo_ivanov 40% win percentage, 14% playing
TheMasterGamer 28% win percentage, 60% playing
alamothe 33% win percentage, 7% playing

please try to match this
alamothe (3367 D(B))

it's not like i don't respect Chris, dangermouse or flashman, but any of the above listed players could beat them using only one hand
cgwhite32 (1465 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
I'm not sure I agree with that. I've only played you alamothe a couple of times, but been up against Chris, dangermouse and flashman many times. They are a right set of devious buggers!

Group B is turning out to be quite interesting too. I have to say, the League makes it slightly more edgy...
Chrispminis (916 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
Haha, I'm sure the next series of leagues will determine whether the Group C'ers can stand up to the Group E'ers. Intergroup rivalry!! =D
Darwyn (1601 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
I've only played against one person that I feared a stab from so much that it caused me to throw logic to the wind and make a major mistake. And that was Chris. :)

Granted, I haven't even played some of the other greats on this site yet. But hopefully I will see them in the promotion game. :)

Group D rules! It has been interesting thus far.
DeliciousWolf (112 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
Let me just represent Group A here and say the games rock! The strategic logic and thinking of the press has taught me a lot just from the discussions.
dangermouse (5551 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
Look. It's just plain obvious that our group can beat up your group, so give it up.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
Group A contains Rait. We win by default :D
destp (2774 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
I have to agree with the general sentiment of how great the league games have been. The level of competition in Group E has been intense with very little room for error.

Does anyone happen to have the links for all the league games handy? The computer I'd saved them on is out of commission and the post seems to have dropped off the bottom. If anyone does and would be willing to send them to me or post them again it would be much appreciated; I'm curious how the other games are shaping up.

I think in the future the teams should be given less utilitarian names so that readers will have more fun. Sure it is interesting to hear how "Group C is WAY sweeter than Group E" but i would rather see " Sharks are WAY sweeter than Bears"
Zarathustra (3672 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
also, i am totally in on the next league. Im friends with gyrncat and he has told me it has been a really interesting experience
Zarathustra (3672 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
oh, and for anyone reading this thinking that i may possibly metagame with him, i ask you to look at my games. I am pretty sure that i have tried to kill him more often than I have befriended him.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
Actually, what is going to happen is that these players are going to be moved into leagues of differents standards, so that then you have the Premier League, League A etc.

This season is sort of a "play-off round"
Zarathustra (3672 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
then you would have the championships and all and eventually a league winner, correct?

assuming im partially correct, this would still mean there would eventually be a new league event.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
Well, we have seasons, two annually, and we can take on new players at that time.

So we basically have a series of leagues with promotion, relegation and so on.
Sicarius (673 D)
22 Oct 08 UTC
hmm alright well just let me know when that is. spring right

also if someone drops out and you need a replacement
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

I will post on the forum and have it open to entries for a fortnight. I also post on the forum when there are drop outs.

@ Ghost: Thanks
@ alamothe: Of course! I've actually found them in the past that way, not sure how I forgot that option.
mac (189 D)

alamothe, thanks for the invitation. I am going to visit the website now and understand more about the leagues... at the moment I am stuck - however - with a UN variant that demands lot of press (and it is not that fun, at least for me)... So I think that any involvement in the league might only come at a later stage.

Again though, thanks for the invitation! :)
Centurian (3257 D)

I think Group D needs some serious rep here. Things are intense. I'm also about to die in the first one. I blame everyone.
Braveheart (2408 D(S))
24 Oct 08 UTC
Agreed.... Group D may not have any of the top rated old guard in it, but there is certainly plenty of emerging talent on show. I can personally testify that Gryncat, Centurian and Darwyn are as devious as any I have come across on this site ;)

Press has been extremely intense and the alliance structure on the board seems to have changed every single year in both games (except for the end game in Game 1).

Let the beer and and wine flow.
I have question for are European friends and other persons living in nations that are more open with alcohol "for human consumption". Paticularly age limits. The U.S. as you know has long history of proabition and that has caused more harm than good. Is alcoholism, drunk driving and etc as much a problem there as it is here?

Attention! All games where someone has gone into CD with 0 supply centres report in!
Lets imagine it... your in the middle of an exciting game and you've technically just eliminated someone, but they are too chicken to finalize that last retreat or destroy order. These games are free to take over, so im on a personal mission to take over these unwanted positions and finalize that final order. I know this will add to my number of losses (will it?), but im feeling nice and everyone wants these games to move on.
