I've come up with a great idea to revitalize the site and expand the fanbase.
It's called Webdip The Musical. It would be much more interesting than adding new maps or new features and might also allow people to rant about their political opinions in a way that's easier to ignore. I have contacted the mods and several have agreed to donate glitter.

Another potential idea is mafia the musical.

How do I fix the time desync for deadlines again?
I noticed a live game countdown (game failed to fire unfortunately) where I was a whole 30 seconds ahead of the game's phase deadlines. I remember there being a way to fix the desync but don't remember what it is. Anybody got me?

"Fog of War" rules?
Any reason "Fog of War" rules don't exist as a New Game option? You know, where you can see only the territories that border your units. So on the first round, England sees only as far as North Sea, Norwegian, English Channel, Irish Sea but does not see anything in France...

Trump breaks campaign promise to investigate Clinton
"Locking her up" was pretty central to Trump's campaign; two weeks after winning the election he's decided not to follow through. Are Trump supporters concerned about this? If not, why? And if he has already broken this promise (and others) then what faith do you have that he'll actually follow through on other promises?

Truth is, Trump is going to have to break a lot of campaign promises, and Trump supporters will say either "he did it for the campaign because he's a genius!" or "he was just saying things; everyone knew he wouldn't actually do that," or "give him more time, he'll do it eventually, he just has to say something else now." Or maybe even continue blindly in their chants of "lock her up" without regard for Trump's actual promises.

But both of those are cop-outs. They're just ways to explain away the fact that he's going to back down on campaign promises, like a full repeal of the ACA, or that he's going to "drain the swamp" (by appointing heavily politically entrenched people?).

The only policies he's not backing down on are those that really are Nazi-esque, like the Muslim registry. That's how it started in Germany. (I'm not kidding. I know people cry "literally Hitler" all the time, but this time? It's literally Hitler.)

(And to be fair, everyone does it. Obama supporters did it about Obama's campaign promises. Here, though, it's a significantly more serious problem.)

This is the equivalent of the Nixon pardon, and it is the proper thing to do. A prosecution of Hillary Clinton would make the post-election "protests" look like Disney, and the Liberals (fomented by MoveOn, George Soros, etc) would burn cities.

Sad that we live in the a nation where the threat of left-wing violence is now dictating other's behavior and policy. (The once-big-party-we-love-free-expression-of-thought-party-of-diversity has now become narrow-minded and authoritarian and violent...banana republic USA)

Ford didn't campaign on locking up Nixon. Trump did. Does this blatant disregard for campaign promises concern Trump supporters is what I'm interested in.

Also, "liberal violence" is not the reason he shouldn't prosecute her. The reason is that it's a horrific precedent to set in US politics. I'm not saying she shouldn't be investigated + no comment about that - but the person she runs against shouldn't be involved, and liberals would be right to be distressed about it.

Consider the reverse: Hillary is elected, and appoints a special prosecutor to investigate and jail Trump for his numerous sexual assault charges. Whether or not you think those charges are real, doesn't that set a horrifying precedent for smashing political competition and consolidating power?

You can't lock up the opposite running mate. It's a bad precedent to set. However she should be locked up and it was a great rallying chant for the people that agreed Hillary was a horrendous candidate.
krellin (80 DX)

@Cond....did you actually ask that? lol Name me a *single* President EVER that made campaign promises that he did immediately break.

Be honest...and be *rational*. If anybody voted for Trump specifically because they thought he would appoint someone to prosecute Clinton, then you have serious fucking issues.

If you voted for Trump, you primarily did it for a couple of reasons:
1. Revise tax structure to promote growth of business
2. Scale back regulatorry stucture to promote the growth of business
3. Renegotiate trade deals to level the playing field and remove our massive trade imabalance with foreign countries to promote the growth of business
4. Tear apart Washington political structure to remove the influence of shirrt politicians being bought and controlled by PACs, lobbyists, etc.
5. (or 4a.) To have a President that is independent of control by outside influences.

That is pretty much why people voted for Trump.

I've been suspecting since the day after the election that Clinton agreed not to challenge the election in return for a promise of non-prosecution for her crimes.

I have mixed feelings on the subject. Much as I wide like to see Clinton punished for her crimes (which have killed hundreds of thousands of people), setting a precedent of a new regime prosecuting and imprisoning the old would mean that there would never again be a peaceful transfer of power in America, a prospect which should scare the shit out of all of us.

@Abge --"So Trump supporters knew it was an empty threat during the campaign, but it was just fun to yell and post signs of Clinton in jail? I'm rather incredulous of that."

No, you are really not rather incredulous of that, unless you are by nature rather incredulous at the behavior of every single voter ever that got their undies in a bunch of the bullshit promises of any politician.

You think Hillary supporters weren't out there chanting and repeating shit that they knew was a lie, that she would never do?
come on...be serious. Have a little credibility.

I mean...let's look at all of the liberals marching around the streets starting fires and shit telling the world they are "scared for the lives" and repeating a bunch of lies about having their civil rights removed, etc even though Trump has never said ANYTHING about removing or limiting legal American's rights. He HAS said that he would like laws enforced - such as immigration laws, etc.

And yet....."incredulous" liberals are marching around and screaming about a bunch of fake manufactured fears that are being promoted byu the media, etc. (and NOT being denounced by liberal Politicians who know they are lies.)

So....yeah...there's that. Liberals a bunch of boldpfaced liars, too, whether or not they win or lose elections.

@krellin

I've never defended Clinton, her supporters, nor the current protestors, so I don't see how that's relevant. Clinton also isn't the president-elect, so we have no way to know if she would keep to her promises.

Now, as to the relevant part of your post:

Based on what I've seen, I truly believe there was a large number of people (probably not the majority, but not an insignificant amount) who truly wanted Clinton in jail and believe Trump would do that. He isn't going to (unless PE/ND are right), so I'm just wondering if people care.

An important thing to keep in mind is that Trump hasn't said he's going to pardon Hillary for her crimes, just that he's not going to prosecute. The card is in his hand, he's just not going to play it. Not for now, maybe not ever. I'm sure Trump realizes that he and his regime are certainly in for some tough times ahead, and that card is more powerful sitting in his hand than it would be if it were actually in play.

"Based on what I've seen, I truly believe there was a large number of people (probably not the majority, but not an insignificant amount) who truly wanted Clinton in jail and believe Trump would do that."

I am one of those people that truly want Clinton (and indeed, much of the political class - including some people who have been on Team Trump) in jail. It was fun to hear Trump say it, and he may have actually meant it when he was in the moments. But I'm sure if any of the grownups close to him believed he was serious they would've immediately sat him down and explained the 12 or 15 reasons why that would be a suicidally bad idea. Trump is a circus performer first and foremost, and one does great injury to oneself by taking everything he says seriously.

"In an ever-changing, incomprehensible world the masses had reached the point where they would, at the same time, believe everything and nothing, think that everything was possible and that nothing was true. ... Mass propaganda discovered that its audience was ready at all times to believe the worst, no matter how absurd, and did not particularly object to being deceived because it held every statement to be a lie anyhow. The totalitarian mass leaders based their propaganda on the correct psychological assumption that, under such conditions, one could make people believe the most fantastic statements one day, and trust that if the next day they were given irrefutable proof of their falsehood, they would take refuge in cynicism; instead of deserting the leaders who had lied to them, they would protest that they had known all along that the statement was a lie and would admire the leaders for their superior tactical cleverness.”

Not sure yet. I have a couple hypotheses about what can be taken seriously and what can't, I guess we'll see how they hold up to testing in the years to come.
