I've come up with a great idea to revitalize the site and expand the fanbase.
It's called Webdip The Musical. It would be much more interesting than adding new maps or new features and might also allow people to rant about their political opinions in a way that's easier to ignore. I have contacted the mods and several have agreed to donate glitter.

Another potential idea is mafia the musical.

How do I fix the time desync for deadlines again?
I noticed a live game countdown (game failed to fire unfortunately) where I was a whole 30 seconds ahead of the game's phase deadlines. I remember there being a way to fix the desync but don't remember what it is. Anybody got me?

"Fog of War" rules?
Any reason "Fog of War" rules don't exist as a New Game option? You know, where you can see only the territories that border your units. So on the first round, England sees only as far as North Sea, Norwegian, English Channel, Irish Sea but does not see anything in France...

Trump breaks campaign promise to investigate Clinton
"Locking her up" was pretty central to Trump's campaign; two weeks after winning the election he's decided not to follow through. Are Trump supporters concerned about this? If not, why? And if he has already broken this promise (and others) then what faith do you have that he'll actually follow through on other promises?

PE, how do you reconcile what you're saying with krellin's reaction.

You want everyone to believe Trump isn't stupid. Well he's not. He did this to distract from his fraud settlement, and he did this to incite further anger between the sides. His trolling has a purpose, and it's a sinister one.

I'm from Canada. On our political spectrum, you are far-right.
"PE, how do you reconcile what you're saying with krellin's reaction."

Sounds like he doesn't like double standards. Reasonable stance to have. I don't get why he cares about it so much, but it is a pretty glaring example of a double standard -- how often were we told to respect the office, or that businesses shouldn't let politics interfere with the delivery of their product? -- so I guess if he cares about it like this, he's free to say whatever.

I maintain that most Trump people I know, and all of them offline, think that Pence's comment sums up their views and that Trump's tweet was bait - and that the only people still treating this like an 'issue' in need of discussion in my offline world are liberals continuing to justify an unjustifiable superiority complex over the Republicans and the president-elect.

"You want everyone to believe Trump isn't stupid. Well he's not. He did this to distract from his fraud settlement, and he did this to incite further anger between the sides. His trolling has a purpose, and it's a sinister one."

I'm not taking this projection seriously.

The thing about the soon-to-be most powerful man in the world demanding an apology based on a lie is that it doesn't really matter whether he later claims he was just fucking around. There is a global industry correctly devoted to taking the president (or president-elect) seriously, and just because that opens up the most epic trolling opportunities ever doesn't mean those opportunities should actually be taken.

Also, fuck that Obama hypothetical. The actual Obama comparison would look more like this:

The best thing that ever happened to Trump's chances for re-election and the Republicans chances across the board in near future elections is the bad behavior of the left. Behaving like rude weirdos only helps the right.

Assuming everything you're saying is correct, does it not worry you that the future POTUS is someone who's willing to drag other people through the mud in order to avoid negative press about his fraud trial, when he's not even in a campaign?

Even if we take the best possible interpretation of his actions (yours), he still doesn't come out looking too great. He is not assuring the American public at large, 75% of whom did not vote for him.
President Eden (2750 D)
22 Nov 16 UTC

why does everything need to be about reassuring the professionally aggrieved?

because that's the only proportion of that 75% still talking about this.

trump's election was literally a repudiation of the idea that claiming grievance gives you a special platform where other people have to beckon to whatever you claim your needs to be

The only "Conservative" on this site who's really close to Yanik on the political spectrum is Octavious. Everyone else is considerably further to the right.
I don't think I agree, Eden. There are a lot of people who would not previously have been engaging in political discussions that are now very very upset. I think this change alone means that the President elect should be trying to smooth things out not stir the pot. The country is a lot more divided than it has been and the President will be the one who has responsibility to mend it, regardless of who actually voted for him. To say that he doesn't I think misinterprets the responsibilities of the office.
SuperSteve (894 D)

"rude weirdos?? that is like the very definition of trump himself, and hey - he got elected"

Not a completely baseless assessment of President Trump. The implication that his rudeness or weirdness got him elected is inaccurate, in my view. The American people were presented with two choices of which they were not fond and chose the least offensive, in their view. That is if the polling is to be believed.

It seems to me that holding up traffic and embarrassing some guy at a play are not pleasant behaviors and are likely to backfire, at least if future electoral success is the measure.

This type of "obvious trolling" or whatever you want to call it has been quite common in Putin's administration and media campaigns for a while now. I really don't think Trump was kidding when he said he admired Putin.
