I have never loved America more than right now. I recently emigrated from Poland, a country that under current government wants to ban abortion even in cases when the live of the woman carrying the child is at stakes, a country where a high-level government official says that "we should require all atheists, orthodox and muslims to fill out a declaration that they will respect catholic heritage of Poland, or otherwise deport them" and a country which actually had an official ceremony of enthronment of Jesus Christ as the King of Poland (that's all last week btw). I used to be so ashamed, felt so bad for my country which in just one year of the current government from a Euro-enthusiastic, well developing country went to straight rock bottom, with economy plummeting, all international relations basically broken and the society deeply divided.
But then I can look at America and I don't feel that bad any more. In our country "Trump" won as well, and the people who voted for him are still happy but objectively speaking the country has gone deepshit crazy. But that's a small central-european country that no-one gives a damn about. Now the same thing, if not much worse will happen to the biggest economy in the world, a country with a huge nuclear arsenal, a country with military bases all over the globe, a freaking member of the Security Council... (I could go on like this forever) The point is at least Poland will not be the laughing stock of Europe anymore, but I just wonder at what price.
