Karl Marx's predictions about wages
If I under correctly Karl Marx predicted that workers wages would fall, over time, until the workers would have no choice but to overthrow the system. Can anyone tell in which book/essay he actually made this prediction?

What I don't like about Diplomacy
Is that this is a zero-sum game. In order to win, you have to make other players lose. I, as an entrepreneur, libertarian and capitalist, find it particularly hard to see the behavior of people when they think they are playing a zero-sum game. Maybe this is why I take human behavior in the game so hard.

Voting Strategy
With the current political landscape, I am facing the very real possibility of the two main candidates being, in my opinion, pretty awful. I have had numerous discussions with friends over the strategy, but I bring it to you. Is it worth it to vote on principle? Should I vote third party if I think they are the best candidate? Or do I vote for the lesser of two evils among the big two?

A Donald Trump Conspiracy
Or, if you would prefer, a case that he is one of the best marketers and media manipulators around, something I think we already knew.

yes. i agree.
i just had a discussion with a friend yesterday who is organizing the local protest for a coming trump rally. my argument was against a disrupting protest, since i believe disrupting these rallies only gives Trump what he wants, which is attention and obfuscating controversy. a PR smokescreen basically.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
14 Mar 16 UTC
The Chicago protest wasn't even violent. If a protest in Chicago was going to go violent, we'd see something between Rodney King and Ferguson, not a few arrests and a few injuries. People don't realize the scale that this narrative works off of - out of the thousands of people protesting this event, a few got violent, whether in retaliation or incitement. Not a lot.
Randomizer (722 D)
14 Mar 16 UTC
The person that got arrested at the Chicago event was a Trump supporter for assault. So clearly Trump is bringing in thugs to shut down his opposition.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

I've heard that there were more arrests than that but I haven't looked since the night of the event.
Putin33 (111 D)

There were 5 arrests. One of those arrested was a CBS reporter, Sopan Deb.

Just to clarify, Trump isn't all that good at manipulating the media or at marketing. He's a good salesman. Arguably, that's his only real skill.

Unless you count trolling as a skill?

Considering he endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2007, he's definitely manipulating the media. Any other candidate would get called the fuck out on it.
Putin33 (111 D)
14 Mar 16 UTC

He has a long history of supporting Democrats. In 2010 he said Obama has done a great job and that he saved America from a depression. Hillary Clinton attended his wedding and the Clintons were described by him as close friends. He was bitterly disappointed Obama didn't pick her as VP in 2008. Republican voters don't seem to care, all that matters is that he hates Obama now. Exposes the conservative movement as being mostly a farce with no ideological substance.
KingCyrus (511 D)
14 Mar 16 UTC
He is taking 30-40% of the vote in a primary. That doesn't expose the "conservative movement," it exposes 30-40% of the people who voted in the Republican primary. Primaries are known for bringing out the more extreme members of their constituencies. General elections swing more moderate. This isn't anything new - it's just at a more extreme level.
Putin33 (111 D)
14 Mar 16 UTC
Right but I'm not sure that negates my point. Primary voters are the more ideologically committed and politically active of conservative voters, and Trump is routinely beating the pack among self-identified conservative primary voters. He is winning the conservative vote and has the backing of many prominent voices in the conservative movement.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Is the voter turnout not just as high among anti-Trump voters in Republican primaries as it is among Trump voters?

"Unless you count trolling as a skill?"

I do.

Al, you are one of the hilariously naïve....or is it willingfully ignorant? Noooooo...I'll just go with stupid, as are far too many.

the cry-babies that want to bitch and moan that Trump has no skill, he's just a Troll, he's nevre accomplished anything, blah blah blah.....

Funny
1. He leveraged a million into ten billion and is incredibly famous
2. He's published
3. He had a highly rated television show for years in which he invested essentially nothing but his face and his cocky attitude and reaped millions
4. He -- according to many -- has no talents, and knows nothing about media manipulation....and yet says exactly the right thing at the right time to ALWAYS be the news story, good or bad (and all press is good press, because people are stupid)
5. He is a troll....and americans secretly love trolls, because most Americans ARE trolls at one time or another. (Oh no, NOT ME you idiots will all say....and I will laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh at you...).

Stick your head in the sand and pretend what is happening isn't/can't be/ blah blah blah.

For the record, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, Rubio....they ALSO have zero skills other than their ability to TROLL. They have no real talent in coming up with original thoughts, and everything they say is just some some Poll-tested rhetoric which - once you peel away the fluff - leaves you with "Hi...vote for me"....

Trumps and asshole, but like it or not, he's actually the only guy on any stage out there thaty has accomplished something, and NONE of them is qualified to be President if you actually want to talk about leadership or the ability to come up with an original thoughts to the national/global problems.

lol

Hillllllll-arious.

If I was given 200 million I'm pretty sure I could have more than 4 billion by the time I was Trump's age.

In any case, I'm fairly certain Trump is just torpedoing the GOP because he's friends with the Clintons and he loves attention. I don't think he actually wants to be President; he doesn't want to do actual work.

Putin33 (111 D)

Not petition, he signed a law which defunded planned parenthood, which took away grants that specifically fight against HIV/Aids and cervical cancer, among other things. He also continually lies about a 8 billion dollar budget deficit which his own staff projected, it was never the actual deficit. He brags about balancing the budget when he is constitutionally obligated to balance the budget. He brags about cutting taxes when he raised sales taxes on all Ohioans. He brags about jobs when we have the worst job growth of any of the 38 states who has experienced job growth (and he took power at the beginning of the recovery). He brags about the recovery of manufacturing sector when he railed against the 2009 tarp money that went to fund it. He is now talking tough about the environment when the first thing he did in office was turn down federal money for rail.

His singular achievement is actually taking medicaid expansion money from Obama and helping to implement Obamacare, something for which he is reviled by a segment of the base in Ohio. Thanks to his coup against the state GOP a few years ago, he's kept a lid on Republican dissent. But we'll see how it plays out tomorrow.

Good lord....what a bunch of arrogant pricks.

Comapnies worth billions that have been around for a century GO BANKRUPT sometimes because the people running them don't know what the fuck they are doing.

....OH....but I happen to be swelling with the most secretive collection of super-fucking geniuses the world has ever known, all of whom could, with no effort, grow any money inherited to them, even though evidence in the real world is to the contrary.

For that matter...if it's so fucking easy - why are any of you working, instead of meetign in secret to *literally* dominate the world.

It is now comfirmed in my heart, that you are, collectively, all a bunch of blithering idiots.

Well, you wouldn't put $200 million in a savings account for a variety of reasons, but if you did just put it in the S&P 500, you'd have about $8 million
ishirkmywork (1401 D)
15 Mar 16 UTC
right -- i assume that meant billion. which is my point. according to my earlier article post, trump would be worth $20 billion if he had invested that $200 mill in an unmanaged S&P index fund.
ND (879 D)
15 Mar 16 UTC
You realize that the "200 million" was inherited in 1999 after Trump was already worth billions right? He received the "small" loan that he paid back with interest in the 1980s. So the whole statement about receiving 200 million 40 years ago is bunk and factually wrong.

"In 1982, after running his father’s firm for eight years, Forbes magazine estimated Trump’s worth at $200 million."
"Trump took over his father’s business, and he inherited money when his father died."

what an amazing, self made man. perhaps if trump released his tax returns we could know the truth behind these numbers. that of course won't happen. keep drinking the kool-aid, ND.
ishirkmywork (1401 D)
15 Mar 16 UTC
nevermind the fact that trump went bankrupt multiple times before 1999. i guess it's easy to play fast and loose with your money when you know you've got a $200 mill bailout coming when your father croaks.

I have a hard time believing that these protestors at Trump's rallies arent just being paid by him to do outlandish shit.

One such incident involved a guy in an anonymous mask stomping on an american flag yelling fuck trump fuck america. Does really sound like politically motivated liberals trying to protest?
I think Trump is paying people to do stupid shit at his rallies to keep attention fixated on him and his message and to force both democrats off of substantive topics onto his nonsense.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Mar 16 UTC
It's more to keep the GOP from getting any air time to combat him, but yeah.
Putin33 (111 D)

A lot of the people protesting aren't liberals at all, they're antifascists.
Putin33 (111 D)

Hello, I'm a newbie here. I am curious. If I put in some orders, save them and click the ready button, my orders are in and everything is great. Later, I go and click not ready. My previous orders were in and now I am changing some of them. I fail to clock watch and the time to make my moves expires. Does the software progress with my first set of orders? Or does the software cause my power to go into Civil Disorder.

Women should feel and be safe walking in the streets every day and night. Sadly, this just isn't the case, all across the world. But once a year UK feminist groups hold a Reclaim the Night march across our cities.
