Waterways in Fall of the Amercian Empire IV
Playing this variant for the first time and wonder if it is possible in one move to move a fleet from Deep South to Chicago. If this were to work, moving out to Lake Michigan is not possible I assume. Thank you!

Chris Christie endorses Taco Bell combo meal #4 for Presidency.
Chris Christie: *crunch* The ground beef just really sets it off plus taco aligns well with my stance on Dodd Frank and Gay marriage.

What happens if two players get to 18 in the same turn?
Does it 2 way draw? Or keep going?

opinions;
so you have an excellent ally and didnt plan to stab this turn but your ally has 8 hours left to input orders hasn't spoke to you and looks like he might NMR. do you assume the worst and attack or hope for best and not attack? also assume you will be IRL busy the rest of the game an unable to change your decision if he does return.

jDip Fall of America?
Looked around the web and can't seem to find one, is there a module for the jDip client for Fall of the American Empire? I have a forum that's doing play by post and we're seeing which variants we can use.

Email Notifications??
Is it not possible to have email notifications when game begins, messages are received, orders are processed etc? After playing a few games I wonder how much time I have spent checking my phone or computer to see if orders have been processed or I've received any messages.

I'm genuinely curious about the changing nature of the drawn out simultaneous US Presidential nomination battles. Does one Party's campaign influence the other to any great degree?

you realize he said this in a late-June, not a mid-February

jk I'm just reposting what some rando on twitter said I have no idea if that's true or not.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

It is true, but what's the difference between June and February? They knew Clinton was the nominee, but that's about the only difference.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
23 Feb 16 UTC
And it's not like Bush didn't say something along the same lines that Obama is saying now about having full rights and powers to nominate a new justice, so there's hypocrisy on both sides, but he's talking on the Senate floor, not on MSNBC or blankflag news or some shit.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Likewise, Biden was the chair of the Judiciary Committee when he made those remarks, so if that's not him saying what he actually thinks, then I don't know what would be.

##VOTE JOE BIDEN We can't let scumslips like this go unpunished!

Oh wait, he's not even running, so I can't vote for him.

"It is true, but what's the difference between June and February?"

5 months. Quite a lot of time.

Suggesting the President not nominate someone is a constitutionally different position than refusing to consider nominees.
KingCyrus (511 D)
24 Feb 16 UTC
I missed the part of the Constitution where it said Senators had to consider it, can someone point that out to me?
Putin33 (111 D)

Advise and consent means review appointments and vote to confirm or reject. It doesn't mean refuse to review. The Senate is effectively taken upon itself to determine how many SC justices the court has without passing an act of Congress reducing the number of justices to eight. In so many ways their act is constitutionally dubious.
Lethologica (203 D)
24 Feb 16 UTC
The Senate is constitutionally allowed to refuse advice and consent to SCOTUS nominees until the cows come home, but that doesn't make it good governance.
Lethologica (203 D)
24 Feb 16 UTC
Sorry "refuse to advise the President on, or consent to, SCOTUS nominees".
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Feb 16 UTC
How can they refuse to carry out their constitutional obligations?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
24 Feb 16 UTC
@KC ... they don't have to consider it, but coming out and saying they will block any nomination before one has even been made is quite childish.
Lethologica (203 D)
24 Feb 16 UTC
@Putin33, the President is given the power to nominate and, with the Senate's advice and consent, to appoint. Implicit in that is that the Senate has the power to withhold consent. I don't know what the case law is on either the President's obligation to *eventually* nominate or the Senate's obligation to *eventually* consent to an appointment. There may not *be* such an obligation.
Putin33 (111 D)

This is not witholding consent though, this is refusing to advise at all. You have to actually consider something before you withhold consent.

Europe through History....
Came across this link, apologies as its via facebook but couldn't find it anywhere else. https://www.facebook.com/mark.delvecchio.7/videos/941931915903515/

Quite an interesting demonstration of how Europe boundaries altered and made me think it might be quite fun to do a similar time lapse of a Diplomacy game if anyone was bored....
