Intriguing. So a concert is bit like a meal.

What's worst taste/sound?

Best taste/sound?

Can you taste sounds if you just think of them (and not actually hear them) ?

Really there is a constant flow of taste. Sort of how people go about their day hearing all sorts of noise, it just filters in as background. Constantly tasting things is the same, unless something startling happens, almost like a loud noise.

I have only recently (12 months or so) been able to diagnose this, and have not yet cataloged many things. While this does sound unusual that I would not notice it, it is like someone seeing the color purple. If no one else ever saw the color purple, how would you find out?

I heard some organ music a couple months ago, and it tasted terrible. The whole time I wanted to spit.

Depends on what you like for best. "Mustard" is a particularly spicy word, which isn't unpleasant.

No, I don't think so. There is sort of a feeble response, but I believe this is the brain falsely reacting to supposed known stimuli. Sort of like Pavlov's dogs. Every time you hear something, you expect to taste it. So when you think it, you are almost expecting to taste it.

Cool, i have never heard of that form KC. Do you think it has negative effects?

Does it make you see the world in a different light?
KingCyrus (511 D)
28 May 15 UTC
Not really. It is just another sense. While there is no distinct advantage, that I know of, it helps me to experience the world in ways others can't.

I also like to think of myself as the first of a long line of mutants ala X-Men. Bow before the next superior link in the evolutionary chain!!!
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Could it not give you a distinct advantage in face-to-face communication? It gives you another sense to judge what others are saying with.
KingCyrus (511 D)
30 May 15 UTC
Another sense, but one that it is hard to correlate to any specific data.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

So someone's speech tasting bad isn't indicative of tone or intent? We interpret things that way with facial expression and posture, which is another sense, so I wonder whether it can't be done with taste.
KingCyrus (511 D)
30 May 15 UTC
I have found no correlation, no. Perhaps if I were to study synesthesia and my own experience with it much more closely, I could come to some sort of findings. Some way to link taste to anything. But unfortunately, I don't have time. :/
orathaic (1009 D(B))

Yes, you must go to the school for the gifted to properly train your mutant power ;)

I for one have recently discovered that i'm partially taste blind. For at least one set of bitter chemicals, which may have had lots of effects...
KingCyrus (511 D)
30 May 15 UTC
Actually, synesthesia has been linked to higher IQ and creativity.

Feminism, Authoritarianism and Gender
I hesitate to post this, but i wonder where discussion will lead...
Is Gender socially constructed? Is there a difference between gender identity and gender expression? What other issues does this raise?

Why'd You Choose Your Username?
It's a decision we all make, and one we have to life with for the rest of our time on this site; choosing a username. Some choose their own name, their initials, a historical figure or even a reference to a movie or TV show. So I ask all of you, just why did you choose that username you have?

I find some references to gunboat games, but nowhere in the help section a hint, what type of game is to be expected in a gunboat game.

Can someone explain how hidden draw votes changes the game enough to make it a variant? It just doesn't seem all that interesting to me.

Going out to vote today...
...but is it a good thing?

In case you don't know; Ireland is having a marriage equality referendum today. Yes will mean marriage between gay couples becomes a reality, a No will deny them their fundamental human rights.

Favorite Quotes
I've always enjoyed little concentrated nuggets of wisdom and any opportunity to expand my collection. What are some of your favorite quotes?

From Benjamin Franklin's autobiography:
"So convenient a thing it is to be a reasonable creature, since it enables one to find or make a reason for everything one has a mind to do."
