@JY- I want to try to use it for seeing the viability of moves. I already played out a lepanto idea I was working on (it failed) but I am enjoying the ability to try new things without having to coordinate with other players or download a program.

Honestly, JDip is probably the single hardest piece of software I've ever used. This is much nicer.

That would explain your look of shock and ridicule when I suggested we use it for recording games and that I could enter orders at a reasonable speed.

I always hated jDip, but I literally have a VM running on my Mac to make sure I'll always be able to use RealPolitik. That stuff was rock solid.

VM on Mac is the way to go. That's how I did demonstrations in the list Windows course I taught. Many lolz were had

Is there a site where you play against CPUs gunboat? Like you can't see any other orders put in, but as soon you puts yours in, the phase progresses.

There was a computer program made many years ago for playing diplomacy against an AI, but the AI was crap.

Yeah I found this after leaving playdiplomacy. Love the sandbox only thing is you can't find a lot of games on the site. Of course the sandbox is extremely good

The only thing I don't like about backstabbr is that the map isn't the best- I would prefer it if the entire province changes colour when you capture an SC, like here, because the SC circles are kind of small aren't as easily noticeable, especially in provinces like St. P or Sev, where the dots are near the edge of the province.

I started playing Diplomacy on Backstabbr before I found webDip. The interface was very nice, combining real-time previews over the previous orders. But the community there is awful, 50 percent drop out rate on most games. A simple ranking system would make that site much better, and I suggested it to one of the devs, but the response was something along the lines of "not likely."'

That's when I found webDip. Haven't looked back since.

I hated playdiplomay for that reason. Drop outs. And I cussed out a mod :(

Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner. I was having a good time with my wife without the kids. Now that I am here, it looks like the issue has already been resolved according to my will. Nicely done I must say.

Zultar is the one true mod. I am merely the hand effecting his will. Praise zultar!

@Zultar- not to call out the true lord of the webDip world, but how was the issue resolved? (There really wasn't an issue to begin with) several issues were proposed with the current methods of sandbox and several players have already claimed the benefits to this new site. The issue isn't necessarily one of immediate response but how likely would it be for this site to get a developed sandbox like backstabbr in the future? if possible could we get a timeline?

Zultar was called about the Twitter issue. The Twitter issue has been resolved.

With respect to the rest of the discussion, the sandbox is an interesting idea, but it hasn't been discussed internally. Even if we do decide that it's needed, the development team currently consists of one person with a full time job, and there's a long list of desired features that would come before it on the to-do list, so a timeline isn't a realistic possibility.

Thank you so much!! Having to create 7 new accounts every time I wanted to try out a few new opening moves was extremely tiring. I thought the mods may have been able to connect it to my main account some time.

I was playing on backstabbr for a while before I found webdip. The interface is really nice and the sandbox is the best feature, but the community there is really poor. There aren't many games going, and it seems every single game has at least one CD and some people won't press at all even in full press games.

I still use it for the sandbox these days. It would be great if we could have sandboxes here on webdip.
