I'm all for free speech but for SYnapse even Gandhi would be all like "dude shut the fuck up"

Personally I view freedom to be far more important then security, not just because I think terrorism is vastly overrated and not nearly the threat most people believe it is, but because frankly freedom is just too valuable.

My main reason for supporting free speech and the freedom of the press is the importance civil liberties has on human develop and innovation.

Let us imagine, rather then banning freedom of speech today, there was no free speech 50 years ago. MLK would not have been able to make his I have a dream speech.

Let us imagine that 100 years ago free speech was not around, would the womens rights movement have been able to progress?

The simple fact is, most people who oppose freedom of speech generally run under the assumption that only opinions they disagree with will be banned. You're not the government and giving the government power, and frankly power that is too easy to abuse (as we would be unable to protest against policies we disagree with) is frankly a far greater problem then any possible external threat to the union.
