Duane "Dog" Chapman versus Edward "Traitor" Snowden

Is an objective fact racism?
An objective fact is something tangible. The dog is sleeping. You can look and see the dog is sleeping. Richard Dawkins tweeted “all the world’s Muslims have fewer Nobel Prizes than Trinity College, Cambridge." This is an objective fact otherwise referred to as the truth.

Gaming the System-Obamacare
Now that the personal mandate approaches the entrepreneurial spirit of the American populace already discovered a multitude of ways to game the system of Obamacare, much like Food Stamps and Welfare before it. Politically granted waivers seem the most popular. Who has them?

To Krellin, I am unaware of a lot of the context of your """Debates""" (liberal use of the word), so I'd like to be enlightened.

What do you is a liberal? What is a conservative? How do they differ?

Unintended consequences of taxation
The idea that the federal government can increase taxes no matter where an American lives just backfired. The number of Americans giving up their passports and renouncing US citizenship increased 600% in the second quarter of 2013.

For all you people that thought Sarah Palin was stupid.....
.....meet Stephanie Bannister
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/australasia/australian-ultranationalist-politician-stephanie-banister-in-car-crash-immigration-tv-interview-8752754.html

As car crash political interviews go, it must surely be among the worst.

Stephanie Banister, who is hoping to represent the ultra-nationalist One Nation party in next month's Australian federal election, appeared in an interview with the Channel Seven network where she was challenged to justify her controversial views on Islam and her opposition to Halal food.

The 27-year-old began the catastrophic interview by appearing to confuse the Qur'an and Halal food with "haram", which is an Islamic term for something forbidden by God.

She went on to explain her views on immigration saying: "I don’t oppose Islam as a country but I do feel their laws should not be welcome here in Australia."

Banister, who is due to face court charges for her alleged part in an anti-Muslim vandalism campaign, in which it is claimed she stuck a sticker reading "Beware! Halal food funds terrorism" on Nestle products at her local Woolworths, admitted she didn't know the names of the other candidates she was running against in the 7 September election.

When further questioned by the interviewer over her views on Islam she said: “Less than 2% of Australians follow haram” – which the interviewer understood to mean the Qur'an.

"Jews aren’t under haram. They have their own religion which follows Jesus Christ," Banister said.

Not exactly the same as a Vice Presidential running mate who could actually have obtained the position of President when McCain keeled over from a heart attack or something.
SacredDigits (102 D)

Insane fringe party people exist in the US too.

And yeah, Woolworths international was a separate company from Woolworths US, so they still exist in some countries. Much like Chi Chi's still exists in Belgium. But the US version of Woolworths still sort of exists...Foot Locker was a branch of that company, and managed to live through the closing of the main stores.
Octavious (2701 D)
10 Aug 13 UTC
UKIP have Woolworths too?

Nigs, at least try to talk sense every now and then. UKIP are a mainstream centre-right political party who came third in the last council elections, have many MEPs and a foothold in the HoL

The One Nation lot seem to be a far right bunch who get less than one percent of Australian support. They are nothing like UKIP, in much the same way that this Steph woman is nothing like Palin.
Invictus (240 D)

Don't you see? A political party you happen to disagree with is automatically on the irrelevant fringe in NigeeBaby's mind.

Invictus (240 D)

Seeing Russia from her house is from an SNL skit, not anything she said.
Draugnar (0 DX)

OK, so she actually just claimed you could see Russia from parts of Alaska. The Bering Strait is 53 miles across. there is nowhere in Alaska that you can see Russia.
Invictus (240 D)
10 Aug 13 UTC
There are two islands right next to each other in the strait. The Diomedes, I think. An athlete could easily swim it and the islands can totally see each other.

Don't get me wrong. Palin has no business being on a presidential ticket. But she's not some drooling moron either.
Invictus (240 D)

One island belongs to Russia, if that wasn't clear. And both are inhabited.

Ford said that Poland wasn't under Soviet control.

The lack of intelligence of political candidates and worse the ones that get elected is getting worse.

Most of it is, admittedly, teleprompter/cue card flubs or simple slips under pressure. I generally cut them slack as none of us would do any better under the spotlight.
Just for the record, at it's first outing One Nation (or One Notion, as often derided) got nearly a million first preferences for the house of reps (Aus federal lower house).
They aren't quite as "fringe" as many believe... Australia, for all it's apparent success in multiculturalism has a host of festering issues related to it.
Australia is a fringe country, but that's another story entirely.

Regarding the Diomede Islands (Big and Little Diomede)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Diomede_Island
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Diomede

The Little Diomede is US/Alaska owned, but the population is all of 135 people and it is 2.4 miles from Big Diomede, which is *not* populated as the native population was forced off by the Soviets during the Cold War and has not returned.

I somehow doubt Palin was referring to that but was just being her usual idiot/braggart self. After all, she tried to claim Trig as her own for some time, but got found out. Not exactly the "moral and upright" person one would hope to find in a VP running mate and candidate.

Sarah Palin was the reason I *didn't* vote for John McClain in 08. Both candidates had health plans that scared the fuck out of me, but I thought for sure if McCain got elected, she would end up in charge and that was too scary a thought to even consider. Sarah Palin was the best thing ever happened to President B.O.'s campaign.
Draugnar (0 DX)

I will retract the Trig part. That was only ever actually rumor and I guess she is his mother.

It's all the fun of the fair with our election
a Liberal Party ( Conservative ) candidate
was spouting his parties "Stop the Boats" mantra to TV journalists and referred
to their " 6 point plan to stop the boats" -- and a journalist asked him
"what are the 6 D ?" and he just fell in a heap, couldnt elaborate other than
"well, we will stop the boats"
Another fun point is that we have had a minority Labour party Govt with support of independents for the last 3 years & the Liberals have been destabilising & running
"negative" and now they are promoting themselves as the only party capable of providing "majority Government"
This neatly ignores the fact that the Liberals have always had to form a coalition with the Country Party ( now called the National Party ) to form a Government, they have hardly ever ( if at all ) won enough seats to form a Government in their own right.

I am an old sceptic, Labour, Liberal & National Parties are all wonderfully inconsistent and no one party has a monopoly on hypocrisy
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

still, it is good to live in Australia where we have relatively free,
regular and well run elections with very little corruption.
What a shambles the recent election in Zimbabwe was with Robert Mugabe's party
running a corrupt & disgraceful farce of an election.
or that disgraceful Theocratic dictatorship in Iran
or the dictatorship in North Korea

although I did notice some electoral posters in my local village promoting some
"Australian Christian Party" that promises to "Save our Nation"
what from, I wonder, --- religious zealots who do not understand the principles of a
Secular State ?
google / look at the Youtube videos of Sam & Caleb Corneloup or Forbes Morrison
to get a glimpse of the religious extremists who are pestilential visitors to the charming
little village between two rivers by the sea where I reside
their dogma is a "God Hates Homosexuals, Gamblers, Drug Addicts etc" load of
nonsense
they spent a day ranting at the public recently when I was getting my mountain bicycle from the Bicycle shop after a service & I spent 3 hours disrupting them
every time they'd set up & start ranting I verbally hammered the chap holding the
"God Hates...." sign,
" What's this God who Hates, is that the Devil?, Beware of the Satanists worshipping a God of Hate!!! " etc
they'd give up ranting, move, set up, start ranting & I'd be into them verbally, they'd stop,
move again & the whole process would repeat. The chap with the God Hates sign wanted to run away and hide after an hour or so, totally demoralised

at least in Australia you can engage in the "contest of ideas" without the secret police
dragging you off to be tortured and or shot, or shot by some gun toting zealot like the poor doctors & nurses getting shot by anti abortionists in the USA

Anyone see "Lovelace" yet?
I just heard the producers and director on a radio interview and they said the film wasn't about pornography, but about "a brave woman finding her voice." This sound canned, and I wondered if it was worth bothering with in the theater or totally DVD fare.
