The fact that Rex Ryan is still there and the GM isn't suggests that they are putting the blame elsewhere for now. If they are doing that, they need to stick with Rex and do the things that he thinks will help make the team better. That means that they have to get their defense going again and find offense down the line.
They play in a division with Tom Brady as it is - even when he retires the Pats will still be good - and now EJ Manuel, who I think is going to be Cam Newton reborn (a big version of Russell Wilson maybe), is ready to come in and make a difference. I can still see the Bills going out and taking Tyler Wilson or another QB in rounds 3-5, going the route of the Redskins with RG3 and Cousins last year. The Dolphins have a growing threat in Tannehill and could be a good team in the next few years again. I know I attribute division to everything, but you play 8 division games a year, and unlike college where you can go 3-5 in your conference and end up in a bowl game, your division play in the NFL matters as a tiebreaker.
Simply put: the Jets have to grow their defense to contain and then the offense to win. You need to tie before you win though.
The Bucs are in another division where the situation is quite the opposite. I get the Revis trade, I like it, I think it was a good investment, but it is not about to bring them from fourth to first, nor is Gholson. Josh Freeman is an excellent QB already with even more room to grow and I think he will.
