No it didn't. It only seems that way if your TOP priority is establishing moral superiority. Instead of actually doing good in a complex practical world.

I hope you learn the difference one day.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
26 May 15 UTC
And you don't establish moral superiority daily by railing on Thucy and telling him to get his mental health checked because you disagree with his stance on the world?
Thucydides (864 D(B))

Let me take this opportunity to say that everyone should take their own mental health seriously and not be ashamed to seek a diagnosis if you will something isn't right - because with many mental illnesses, catching then sooner means you can recover better. And if you are diagnosed, let me also take this opportunity to say that being mentally ill is nothing to be ashamed of, nor as it your fault, just as it is not your fault if you get the flu. Don't ever let someone tell you that your ideas and opinions are less valid because you have a mental health problem. That is all.
fiedler (1293 D)
26 May 15 UTC
I concur.
fiedler (1293 D)

Plus one should not be ashamed to ask if someone is seeking treatment or is on medication.

And Bo, it's always the same story with you guys. You like to be as vicious as you can when you think you are winning an argument. But when you lose, suddenly you have a boo-boo on your feeling bone. Wah wah.

I don't believe you answered my question, fiedler.
fiedler (1293 D)
26 May 15 UTC
ummm... I reject your premise bo_sox. I don't seek any superiority. The purpose of argument is to improve us all. At least that's my point of view. Guess that's hard for you to comprehend.

Then please demonstrate how Thucy is doing anything different.

the whole 'ableist' snobbery...

oh, and he acts like Jesus Christ and rambles on about a fantasy world in complete disregard to the actual reality that real tax-payers/police/soldiers/politicians deal with.

I don't see how that resembles arguments of superiority. It seems to me that you two disagree. I doubt anyone is shocked by that.
fiedler (1293 D)
26 May 15 UTC
Well bo, you must ask yourself why he maintains and promotes these fantasies. Beyond that you will have to do your own thinking. Or pick some oranges, damn it.

"Get this through your thick skull...CORPORATIONS DO NOT PAY TAXES."

Seems like a pretty unambiguous statement to me.

krellin, feel free to retract your frothy and factually incorrect spewage.

I'm not letting the LIAR krellin off easy. Care to walk back your false statements, krellin?
Thucydides (864 D(B))

What fantasies? I am not denying the world as it is, I am decrying it.

"he acts like Jesus Christ."

Well, I've certainly had worse things said about me, lol
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
26 May 15 UTC
Probably for the same reasons that you maintain and preach your opinions, fiedler. Thinking something isn't a crime.
Jeff Kuta (2066 D)
26 May 15 UTC
"Plus one should not be ashamed to ask if someone is seeking treatment or is on medication."

If your intention is to ridicule someone for their choices regarding medical treatment, you should feel ashamed for asking them about it.

That's akin to the classic question, "Senator, is it true you've stopped beating your wife?"
fiedler (1293 D)
26 May 15 UTC
"Thinking something isn't a crime."
- didn't say it was, asshole.

"f your intention is to ridicule someone for their choices regarding medical treatment"
- when did I do that? Asshole.

"Don't ever let someone tell you that your ideas and opinions are less valid because you have a mental health problem."

I actually seriously disagree with this statement. Mental health problems can compromise the ability to think clearly or rationally. Should we accept the ideas of sociopaths as valid without taking their mental health problems into consideration? Should an octogenarian suffering from dementia's will not be curtailed? There are several other mental issues that mean the person's opinions may very well be less valid. Believing otherwise is like letting the inmates run the asylum.
Jeff Kuta (2066 D)
26 May 15 UTC

Ideas and opinions are one thing. Actions are another.

I know a handful of people who are survivors of sexual assault. They could be considered to have mental health problems since they have spent time in therapy. Some will always, ALWAYS distrust their own judgment in some fashion because they can't make sense of why trusted adults would victimize innocent children. They puzzle that out their entire lives and may never get a satisfactory answer.

I digress a bit but the point is that unless any person becomes "imminently dangerous" (with respect to involuntary commitment/assisted treatment) to themselves or others, they should be treated as equals under the law and with respect by other people.
Jeff Kuta (2066 D)
26 May 15 UTC
I meant to add that some people (in this context those with mental health issues) who question their own judgment should be encouraged to *make* "safe" judgments so that they can experience the results of good decision-making. They shouldn't be shut down by others who are "normal."

I know brilliant people with "mental health problems" that have a 4.0 GPA and couldn't be better human beings. I know idiots whose brains would look perfect on a scan that have a 1.1 GPA and steal candy from babies. Judge a person by the person, not by the results of medical examinations.

Why'd You Choose Your Username?
It's a decision we all make, and one we have to life with for the rest of our time on this site; choosing a username. Some choose their own name, their initials, a historical figure or even a reference to a movie or TV show. So I ask all of you, just why did you choose that username you have?
