Note: this commentary is meant in good humor, and should be taken with a grain of salt. it is based on what we're doing for the Rage is Therapy game, where the goal is to be as offensive as possible.
Autumn 2006
So lets see what the brain trust has set up.
North America / South America.
Argentina, Quebec, and USA remain butt buddies. They hold the seas around their homelands, but aren't making jack for progress outside it. If this was a normal game I'd expect a stab, but that'd be suicide on this map. But who knows - given how slow they were to get off the mark they may *be* that stupid. If you guys want to make some progress, you're going to have to quit letting units sit around and try to get them deployed elsewhere. Farting around like you've been doing has pissed away any reasonable chance to make progress elsewhere.
Quebec continues his attempts to convoy REC to China, either because he's bored and is entering nonsense orders to see pretty red lines or because he's an idiot.
Africa / Europe / Asia
The aformentioned farting around has let Libya close off the majority of the African coast, so now it's just a matter of finishing off South Africa and kicking Antarctica off. Eventually we'll see enough fleets moved to the coast to kick Argentina out of East Atlantic, but that's the farthest that Libya is going to make the rest of the game. So, good job not getting your ass kicked, but your part of this game is pretty much over, unless someone decides to stab you in the next few years. Again, it would be idiotic, but it's hardly the first time some jackoff has decided to get greedy and ended up cutting his or her own throat.
Europe and Asia are a stalemate. The Western Alliance isn't going to be able to get enough units in place to pull an Overlord/Downfall, and the Asian/Europe/African Alliance will be able to reclaim the coasts but they're not going to be able to put enough forces in place to return the favor - so, expect a lot of masturbation, but nothing exciting.
Australia / Antarctica
While I originally through that Argentina would be the doom of Antarctica, it looks like the pending rape will be a Chinese / Libyan affair. However, unless the two power blocks decide just to divvy things up and get the game over with, that's going to take a long, long time. Joy, just what I fucking need - months and months of going "Ohh look, one more territory seized! That only leaves ten or twelve more game years until this part of the farce is over with"
In the end, the chance of anyone soloing is pretty much nonexistent, which is hardly a shock - I don't know if *anyone* has ever soloed on this map. So it'll be a balancing act between the size of the draw and the apathy of the participants - at what point will they get sick of spending time trying to wipe one more power to bump up their point total / Ghost rating.
Given some of the narcissistic twits on this board who care more about their ratings than their families or even common fucking decency, I suspect we'll be discussing this debacle for a long, long time. Geez, I'm *so* looking forward to it.
