What I'm understanding is that the tournament games are unranked because tournament players might choose to draw rather than fight for a solo based on their current rank on the leaderboard, the ranks of their opponents in their current game, and the positions of other players on the leaderboard in THEIR current games.
That kind of play seems to conflict with WTA-style games because there could be incentives to draw, but then, there IS a metagame in a tournament, which is, managing multiple games strategically in order to win the tournament.
Still, the fact that the games are unranked suggests you could metagame in a much more malicious way, like playing crappy strategies to deliberately undermine targeted players to manipulate the overall ranking.
I don't know what "the meta" around tournaments is, both in terms of what is considered acceptable and what is not, so any clarification would be appreciated.
