The weird ways of Johnny Foreigner
As you travel the world more and more you begin to understand that people from all nations and backgrounds are basically the same. Then, just when you're beginning to feel at one with the society you're visiting, you come face to face with a concept so bizarre and alien it leaves you in a state of open jawed incomprehension. Lets hear some stories of the weird things foreigners do!

No clever retort for me, mapleleaf? You're the assmunch who smarts off about 9/11 being a smack in the US's face or some such. But 24 Canadians died in the towers of the WTC that day (20 men and 4 women) and you suddenly can't comment back? Asswipe!

Have y'all ever noticed that anybody with talent from Canada leaves there to come live in the US? Pretty soon all that will be left in Canada will be lumberjacks and morons. One can only hope mapleleaf is both and that one day he stands on the wrong side of the tree hollering timber as it plows his ass into the dirt.

@Draug - You're right, pal. People of other nationalities were present in the buildings, so Osama was targeting the whole world, not just the United States. Keep telling yourself that if it helps to relieve the shame that you must feel at your country's totally ineffective and inappropriate response.

Now Osama is building a mosque at ground zero to commemorate the blessed event.

ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!! THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD AND MOHAMMED IS HIS MESSENGER.

BTW Draug, how about that war of 1812?

My great-great-great grandfather PISSED all over your smouldering White House.

Going to do anything about THAT?

I didn't think so.

Bitch.

Than your great-great-great grandfather got his ass kicked at Baltimore by milita.
"My great-great-great grandfather PISSED all over your smouldering White House."

...and my grandfather bailed your ass out in 1941. ...after my great-great-great-great-grandfather kicked your ass square off the continent. Asshole.

My great-great-great grandfather is better than your great-great-great grandfather. Nah-nah-nah!
"after my great-great-great-great-grandfather kicked your ass square off the continent."

Canada is no longer in North America? Damn I need to keep up with the news...
Draugnar (0 DX)
04 Aug 10 UTC
@mapleleaf, you stupid fuck. The British regulars in the Royal Navy burned the White House. No Canadian militia were present. All the Canadian militia managed to do was keep the US from taking parts of Canada for herself, and they had to have British regulars help them with that. So if your great x3 grandpappy actually pisse don the white house, then he was also kicked off the continent in the Revolutionary War or he wasn't kicked off the continent because he went to Canada which means he never saw the White House burn. you can't have it both was, you fucktard.
Draugnar (0 DX)
04 Aug 10 UTC
Of course, Plastic was the one pointed out Canada is on the continent, but the logic still applies. He was either Canadian and didn't see the White House burn or he was a British Sailor / MArine and part of the nation whose ass *was* kicked off the continent.
Good point Draug, if we are talking about a hypothetical ancestor of a given troll. Of course, a substantial number of the British troops (soldiers as well as sailors) who invaded Washington did end up settling in Canada, so it is also possible that mapleleaf can have it both ways.
warsprite (152 D)

His family could have been settled in Canada after the war for losing the Battle of Baltimore. I wonder if he wish he was a girly just like his dear mama.

And for all the other Canadians on the board, I actually have the highest respect for your country. My "observation" was just to piss mapleleaf off. I think you folks did an outstanding job with the Olympics and three of your greatest exports are a couple of my favorite comedic actors and oen of my favorite comedians: William Shatner, Michael J. Fox, and Howie Mandel.

I'm not the attention whore you guys make me out to be. I'm just fascinated by the people on this Forum. Like mapleleaf.

You have to give me that much, at least. The people on this Forum are pretty fascinating to argue with.

Market Garden was a disaster. If we had listened to Patton in '44 instead of Monty, we'd have saved a lot of lives. On both sides.

But it is in the running for coolest name. I tend to like the Vietnam bombing names the best.

Operation Rolling Thunder
Operation Arc Light
Operation Ranch Hand
Operation Flaming Dart

and my personal favorite (both for name and best military operation of all time)

Operation Linebacker II

Show some class, y'all.

My apologies to those actually afflicted with mental development issues for associating you with these other turds. :)

-----

With regards to the thread, I think that having a favourite military campaign is a bit sick and twisted, but that being said, I find the tactics of Hannibal in Roman territory to be among the most epically outstanding examples of waging prolonged bloodletting in the territory of your enemies.

As general of caliber, that man has been surpassed by very few in all of human history.
^I think in the context of admiration for brilliant tactics and strategy, it's quite alright to have "favorite" campaigns, and completely compatible with being a person who lacks inhuman bloodthirst. TMW, I assume, meant it in that context, and not "So guys, which conscious attempt to end as many lives as possible in the name of conquest gave you the biggest hard-on?" or somesuch.

In that respect, I love Nazi Germany and would choose any one of several campaigns from WWII. Actually, minus the war crimes and racially-charged slaughter, Nazi Germany is really fascinating to me. Rommel is probably my favorite general of the modern era.
Jack_Klein (897 D)
05 Aug 10 UTC
Yes, but I dislike how Rommel has been lionized as the "good German General".

Like most German military leaders (with a few exceptions), they were all pro-Hitler until they realized that they were going to lose, and be called to account... then they all started to pretend they weren't cheering enthusiastically for the first few years.

Acosmist (0 DX)
05 Aug 10 UTC
Hitler and his party were pretty anti-establishment, so I don't find it hard to believe that the aristocracy of Germany, whom Hitler bitterly hated, would hate him back.
Not talking about the whole turning on Hitler thing... more like the repeated refusal to go through with orders to execute Jews and POWs. The man is worthy of respect for defying those orders, if you ask me.

Wow. The New Testament actually spells out in the which commandments we have to obey.
Read Mathew 19: 16-30. And note that when Jesus told the man to sell his possessions, he was actually saying one additional commandment we have to obey: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The man was putting his possessions before God, that is why Jesus told him to sell everything.

I am entering the third year of a science research class at my high school and so far I have had limited success with my topic, cryptozoology. I mounted an expedition to find Bigfoot, but came up empty handed. In order to have results to present at competition next year I have shifted the focus of the project and I would really appreciate it if you could take this survey.

Obiwan and the TV Church: Attempting To Understand The People of the Book and Their Point
Well, it's a common criticism of me when I speak at school, on the bus, on this site-iif you're going to criticize the Judeo-Christian Tradition, you HAVE to give it a fair shot first, church and all.
So I'm tuned into "Uplifiting" on Dict TV: All Bible Study and Christian Church programming, all the time! (First observation--Christians can't afford better production values for their Holy Netowrk?) ;)
