A game says it paused on my Notices but did not pause
gameID=12152, Acorrding to my Notices:
Plan of peace
Game has been paused. Thu 09 PM
However, the game seems not to have been paused, maybe because of the reset phase times, and Italy has already gone into civil disorder. How is this sort of thing fixed?

So, I was wondering...
I'm supporting my fleet with two of my armies to a territory.
The enemy support-holds his army in the aforementioned territory with only one army. Normally, I would win. However, if he attacks one of my supporting armies that are in adjacent territories - does he manage to defend himself? A hasty reply would be good.
Thanx in advance!

Are we all dudes?
Clearly everyone on this site is a huge nerd, which is totally cool. Are there any women-nerds who play this game?

Screw my grammar btw ^_^ I don't think in English, I'll put it as third in language thinking preference.

well you are right sayjo but i'm interested what are the other two languages
My favorite is American Sign Language ^_^
I was born and raised utilizing it.

what are you deaf or is someone in your family
Centurian (3257 D)
26 Aug 09 UTC
Haha, I believe denis has a high gpa. Just like I believe diplomat1824 is Robert Zimmer. I mean, the edit done on the article adding the diplomat part on the same day is just a coincidence, right?

Don't care
Thucydides (864 D(B))
27 Aug 09 UTC
He is an avid pilot of small aircraft, and identifies the board game Diplomacy as his only "real hobby". He plays the game on the website http://www.phpdiplomacy.net and goes under the alias "diplomat1824" - the numbers being what he considers the key chapters of Newton's Physics.

I'm calling bs on that section. Just to reiterate what everyone else said.

Diplomat said he taught at a "small Christian university" :P I win. You should probably have looked through all his prevarication a little more carefully lulzworth.

But the article made me laugh out loud, good joke. Just change it back lol.
@Denis Almost every relative of mine is Deaf.

are you deaf
believe that or is this another Robert Zimmer
denis (864 D)
27 Aug 09 UTC
i know that may be offensive that i wouldn't believe you on such a serious issue so sorry

also....sic and pandora i dont think are dating. at least thats what i understood from the last time we chatted
@Denis: I am not Deaf (In a physical view, but I am in a cultural) and in no way view it as a serious issue, which is sufficient enough evidence that my portrayal is accurate ^_^.

I'd also love to have that wonderfully nutty Sioraf as Killeens back. Oh, what a pompous little fool. I miss these people.

Ok, the IP that made that edit about Zimmer also logged into lulzworth's account on 25th August. Nice try.

AS-levels?

(Are you about to make a wiki article about me claiming that I'm diplomat or something?)
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
27 Aug 09 UTC
Don't know why there's a question mark after AS levels...
trim101 (363 D)

no just curious that it all went alright as i thought you were doing gsces
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
27 Aug 09 UTC
Nah that was last year :)
@Akroma- You know DGS? I'll have to say that ASL is more rich and effecting ^_^ Bring it.
Akroma (967 D)
27 Aug 09 UTC
meh whatever.

I mean, we can discuss this endlessly, and in the end it's just a battle of nationality anyway, like english vs any other language.
Draugnar (0 DX)
27 Aug 09 UTC
OK, ASL is American Sign Language. That one I know from my deaf friends (who, thankfully, lip read). But what is DGS?

P.S. Careful playing a deaf person who lip reads in Diplomacy. They can get your secrets from across the room if they can see your face... The only thing worse is playing a couple of Russian friends who slip into their native language while sitting around the table and you just KNOW they are talking about their retreats and builds when they shouldn't be. <grin>
Akroma (967 D)
27 Aug 09 UTC
DGS deutsche Gebärden Sprache, german sign language.

also, bullshit, lip reading is hard enough when you have a proper view, on a distance, it's worth shit. Not that I was ever good at that in the first place.
When playing face-to-face with the Deaf, you will have a whole different problem. Deafies are often excelent judges of intent.

reminds me of that one story, when some dude visited a place where many deafies were living. they were watching a speech by some politican and laughing their ass off.
the dude asked them why they were laughing, they couldn't understand anything afterall.
they answwered "Because he is lying so badly"
Draugnar (0 DX)
27 Aug 09 UTC
Maybe that's my problem. They can see it in my face that I'm about to stab. I bet they are good at reading a person in poker too.
Akroma (967 D)
27 Aug 09 UTC
probably less so, though I am not playing poker very much. In poker, people focus on moving their face not at all, and usually, won't talk.

in diplomacy, where people try to be good liars, you get a lot of fake smiles and more opportunities to spot a liar.

not that it is wise to rely on that entirely.

now back to the original topic:

yes, there are women-nerds here

djbent once tried to organize an all female game. it failed because while there are *some* female nerds, but not enough to fill even a single game

how disappointing
djbent (2572 D(S))
27 Aug 09 UTC
i think there are more, but they don't all read the forum i suppose. and we know some ladies prefer to not make their presence known. still, i agree that it is disappointing.

Locked game: WalnutCreek
I see it sitting there, started with 2 parties having left... I'd be interested in joining it but because it's locked, that's a bit hard. It seems silly to have a game just sitting there unplayable.

A couple times now on the verge of being eliminated, I've been asked to finalize my orders to "speed" the game along. Have others been asked this? And if so, what is your response?

The green dots telling you that someone is currently logged on
I might be wrong about this but I have the feeling that those green dots also show up sometimes although the person is not online.
Just had that in one of my games where there was a dot after the French, that was then gone some minutes afterwards. Still it says: last logged on some hours ago.

Updated, not Finalized
Just starting on PHP, though I've played on FB a bit. On FB, if you update but do not Finalize, the updates go through as your moves. Is that the case here?
Looking forward to this site. Hope to see a lot less people bailing on games early.
