Karl Marx's predictions about wages
If I under correctly Karl Marx predicted that workers wages would fall, over time, until the workers would have no choice but to overthrow the system. Can anyone tell in which book/essay he actually made this prediction?

What I don't like about Diplomacy
Is that this is a zero-sum game. In order to win, you have to make other players lose. I, as an entrepreneur, libertarian and capitalist, find it particularly hard to see the behavior of people when they think they are playing a zero-sum game. Maybe this is why I take human behavior in the game so hard.

Voting Strategy
With the current political landscape, I am facing the very real possibility of the two main candidates being, in my opinion, pretty awful. I have had numerous discussions with friends over the strategy, but I bring it to you. Is it worth it to vote on principle? Should I vote third party if I think they are the best candidate? Or do I vote for the lesser of two evils among the big two?

not ready setting
Hello, I'm a newbie here. I am curious. If I put in some orders, save them and click the ready button, my orders are in and everything is great. Later, I go and click not ready. My previous orders were in and now I am changing some of them. I fail to clock watch and the time to make my moves expires. Does the software progress with my first set of orders? Or does the software cause my power to go into Civil Disorder.

RECLAIM THE NIGHT
Women should feel and be safe walking in the streets every day and night. Sadly, this just isn't the case, all across the world. But once a year UK feminist groups hold a Reclaim the Night march across our cities. Tonight is that night, reclaiming the night for our mums, sisters, daughters, family and friends that just happen to be women.

wjessop, from your socialistic tendencies and pro-Russian rhetoric... or maybe that last part was just Putin.

Nationality, race, and ethnicity are quite distinct.
race=color
ethnicity=cultural heritage
nationality=citizenship
TrPrado (461 D)
26 Feb 16 UTC
I'm not sure a modern model of most societies would show an equivalence of nationality and citizenship entirely. By your standards I'd be white, white, American with nothing much else to consider. Nationality, especially in a country as diverse as the US, goes far beyond a statist registry like citizenship, but rather an identity of the individual. I have a sense of both American nationalism as well as Mexican nationalist sympathies. I favor the states here, but have a sort of romanticized fondness for the Mexican states.
leon1122 (190 D)

It seems that there ate 2 definitions: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nationality

In any case, it still should not be that difficult for wjessop to identify his ethnicity(ies).

Leon, socialists exist across the whole world, not just in Russia. Socialism is not a bad word. At its heart, socialism means community, emphasising an approach to organisation that provides common benefits all in the community.

I think it shows the value-redundancy of terms like ethnicity if you're going to judge me ethnicity on my moral views or political leanings.

Also, if "race=color", what color are you?

I haven't heard people refers to the human colour system in quite a while.

I don't agree that the problem exists at a level where "men need to be reeducated." That's sexist, insulting, and ignorant. The vast majority of men (at least in the west) are not going to go out and rape someone.

I fully support equality, but I'm getting sick of the false arguments thrown around by both sides all the time. Men and women have never been more equal. If we could sort out a few remaining problem areas like child support and alimony, we'd be great.

By the way, for anyone who thinks it is worth responding to Krellin in a thread like this, I have some useful advice which will improve your life:

Don't.

Krellin has admitted previously that a lot of his forum posts are not his actual views, just trolling designed to provoke outrage and argument because he finds that fun.

Don't waste your time.

@chaqa: 'at least in the West'?
Please take a walk through China, Japan, Korea etc. I think you might be surprised to find that 'The vast majority of men are not going to go out and rape someone'.
I'm getting sick of the false arguments that 'the West' is somehow better.

TooCoolSunday (634 D)

leon1122 (190 D)
26 Feb 16 UTC
I completely agree with Chaqa and TooCoolSunday. Men in developed countries have already been taught as much as is possible that women are equal to men. In fact, it shouldn't even need to be taught-- the knowledge that rape is bad is intrinsic.

Oh, wjessop. I guess you're British. https://github.com/wjessop

And as for my color, I am yellow. Africans are frequently referred to as blacks. Caucasians are called whites. There is nothing derogatory about skin color.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
26 Feb 16 UTC
@ Leon: "Men in developed countries have already been taught as much as is possible that women are equal to men."

So, what is your point? Are you saying that rape cannot be prevented? Are you saying that rape is entirely womens' fault? What is the conclusion you draw from that argument?
leon1122 (190 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
Yes. I am saying that there will always be rape because there will always be men who have some mental illness that gives them a desire to do so. They know that rape is wrong. They just don't care. Education isn't going to solve the problem. I was merely responding to wjessop's statement that men need to be taught that rape is wrong.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
@ Leon: So what is your proposed solution to the problem of rape? Just wait for it to happen and then send the deranged men to prison? Can we do nothing else? Can we prevent no rapes?
wjessop (100 DX)
27 Feb 16 UTC
I don't have a GitHub account. I don't even know what that is!
leon1122 (190 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
Individuals can reduce the risk that they themselves are raped. These include learning self defense, bringing pepper spray, travelling in groups when feasible, and not becoming too drunk and unaware of their surroundings. Society as a whole can do little.
wjessop (100 DX)
27 Feb 16 UTC
But "Africans are frequently to as blacks" is hilarious.

Africa is just one homogenous black mass to you it seems. Thanks.
leon1122 (190 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
No, but the southern part of the continent is composed primarily of people with black skin. Obama is frequently called America's first black president. There is nothing wrong with labeling someone as being black.
wjessop (100 DX)
27 Feb 16 UTC
I feel sorry for Leon's hypothetical daughters who may be raped and then chastised for not being pre-emptively preventative.

"Well if you'd listened to me and not left the house; but oh no, you insist on thinking you can live in this world as free as men live in it."
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
"Society as a whole can do little."

Fuck you, Leon. Fuck you and your negative, individualistic, selfish view of humanity.

Of course society can do something. Tell me something, will you? My neighbours are more wealthy than me. They have a decent car and their house contains some nice furniture. They are elderly and I am much fitter than them. Why don't I break into their house and take their good stuff? What is stopping me? Please explain this to me without making any reference to society.
leon1122 (190 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
I did not say that they should be chastised. If they are willing to take risks, then it is not my place to stop them.

I did not say that women shouldn't leave the house. I merely suggest reasonable precautions when they do leave. In fact, who is to say that they cannot be raped in their own house. Prevention should always come first.
leon1122 (190 D)
27 Feb 16 UTC
Jamiet, the law is in your way. You would go to jail if you broke into the hypothetical neighbor's house. There are also laws in place to put rapists in jail.

Also, your ad hominem attacks make you little better than krellin.

Roman's never recorded anyone named Jesus being crucified
For an empire which was renowned for record keeping; it always struck me as odd that nobody named Jesus was ever Crucified. I asked my Mormon girlfriend once and they told me it was because Romans were afraid to let the truth get out that they had killed the son of God.

I Demand a Refund
I paid for a car wash after I got gas at Shell this evening but their wash was out of service. I asked for a refund and was told that it wasn't their fault that the wash was closed and that I should come back some other time when it's open and use the code then.

I'm curious to see what other stupid things you all should but can't get a refund for because of jackass cashiers.
