How does the mute option work in this scenario:
If I mute a player, will it in turn mute any threads he/she may create in the future?

I mute everything in the forum except for game-related or threads (I'm here for the game, not for...that). It takes a chunk of time each day to do that. If I were to mute users rather than threads, would it save me from having to mute any threads they may create in the future?

"You never did claim to care for anybody."

So your screaming was completely irrational and ridiculous.

"Please tell me once *ever* where I said I was afraid of the city"

See:

"I live here because I want to send my kids to a school where they have a lesser chance of getting gunned down or raped waiting for the school bus."

But let me guess you want to claim that that's not being afraid of the city. Of course you do.

"I live here because I want to send my kids to a school where they have a lesser chance of getting gunned down or raped waiting for the school bus."

So if I take basic precautions like locking my doors that means I'm terrified of the city? I lock my doors whereever I am, genius. Nice try, though.

"Probably...that's probably why you aren't allowed in a real class room - they wanted to match your intellect to your students."

Wow, this entire time you're trying to make yourself out to be this wonderful person, and yet you still find time to bash the developmentally challenged. What a marvelous human being you are.

2. Putin, in your above example, I did not say I was afraid of the city? Apparently you have the same level of reading skills are your brain damaged students.

Let's see, by Putin logic, if Putin does something to minimize risk to himself, he is a genius, but if I do something to minimize risk to my family, I'm terrified. Check. Yes...this is the logic of a retard....Putin the Retard, to be exact.

3. Yes, Putin, I am by far a more wonderful person than you. By far.

Privatizing police force would make the police become what the CCA is today. Rich corporate guys who do everything they can to keep criminals running around for profit.

"I have played you like a fiddle and made you confess your evil dark heart."

You mean you lied by claiming I made statements I never made.

"I did not say I was afraid of the city?"

Right, you're not afraid of the city you just think people regularly get raped at the bus stop there and cite that as a reason why you don't want to live there. Got it. Whatever you say.

" if Putin does something to minimize risk to himself, he is a genius, but if I do something to minimize risk to my family, I'm terrified."

If you say things like "I don't want my kids to get raped at the bus stop" - implying this would happen if they lived in Detroit, then yes you're terrified.

The privatization of the police would probably not make it better. It might lead to better detective work and better protection. But then there is the whole constitution mess and can they actually enforce the laws and this and that. So it would be a very bad idea to privatize. And daniy is very right on that. Too many drawbacks.
I tried to understand you Putin. I really did. But no more. You named yourself after a dictator wannabe. You are very much like your namesake.
Putin33 (111 D)
25 Nov 13 UTC
" You are very much like your namesake."

That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said.

"You named yourself after a dictator wannabe."

He's the duly elected President in a system modeled after the French 5th Republic. The loose use of the word 'dictator' to label anybody who isn't a western puppet has rendered the term meaningless.
krellin (80 DX)
25 Nov 13 UTC
"Right, you're not afraid of the city you just think people regularly get raped at the bus stop there "

Actually, they get raped walking to the bus stop, which is why the city is making a concerted effort to deal with the abandoned building in the community in which criminals frequently hids out, set up drug operations, and yes, drag school girls off to rape.

Further, even this past week the police have announced that they will start having officers ride on the buses to address the fact that not only are riders being attack on the buses, but the drivers themselves are often the victim of crime. Mr Putin the Rapist, wanna-be city-dweller thug...maybe if just once in your life you would arm yourself with a fact you might fare a bit better in these sorts of discussions. The problem of crime in Detroit is not only a local issue, it is often a matter of national discussion - so your professed ignorance of crime in Detroit either makes you a liar, or the most uninformed wanna-be-political tough guy on WebDip. The former is most likely the case - as it always is.

Did I lie about anything you have said, Putin. Please demonstrate to me where I have lied about you? And then play us your response so we can verify the lie.

And, if "not wanting my kids to get raped at the bus stop = terrified, then you, too, are terrified of getting robbed, apparently. Once again, Putin the rapist (and you are a rapist, because public school educators are all rapists, right, because we know at least one public educator has raped a child...Putin the Pedophile, in fact...even has a nicer ring, wouldn't you say? )

Putin the Terrified, Putin the Pedophile.
Putin33 (111 D)
25 Nov 13 UTC
"Please demonstrate to me where I have lied about you?"

You admitted you lie about everything I ever say, tool. You admitted this repeatedly. And in the recent discussion, you lied about me claiming to care for all sorts of people. Never said that, liar. You can't help but lie. It's beyond your physical capability not to slander me at every opportunity. You rationalize this away in all sorts of ludicrous ways, but the fact remains that you're a serial slanderer and smear merchant of the first order.

"Further, even this past week the police have announced that they will start having officers ride on the buses to address the fact that not only are riders being attack on the buses, but the drivers themselves are often the victim of crime"

Right, and this is why you have never lived in the city, as you happily admit. Because of a recent spate of rape cases at bus stations? What a bunch of bull.

Nevermind that crime in downtown Detroit is *much lower than the national average*.

And you...the Kind of Lies, accusing someone of lying....HA HA HA...Laughable.

but seriously....what **specificallly** did I lie about regarding you in this thread...and please tell us what your defense was.

Waiting...

As for why I have never lived in the city - why should I? Tell me, Putin the rapist, Putin the terrified, have YOU ever been to Detroit? Mr though Wanna-be-City Dweller living in your all-white suburban apartment....tell me when you have been to Detroit...and what you know of the "Downtown" area. Tell me what the available housing in this safe "Downtown" Detroit area is...and tell me what the available shopping in this safe Downtown Detroit area is....

I'd like to see what you actually *know* about Detroit.

Please define for me, using the actual streets in the city of Detroit, what "Downtown" is, and then tell me what the available housing is, and shopping - but grocery and other necessities.

Then, once I am in this safe "downtown" area, please tell me what school my child will be going to, and how that school fares, both in terms of safety, and in terms of academic achievement, versus the available public schools in other communities.

And for the record...why don't you tell us *exactly* where you live, Mr tough guy wanna-be-city dweller. All we hear out of your are constant lies, and generalities...

But more to the point, tell me why I *should* live in Detroit, versus other local communities. Are you some sort of racist, Putin, whereby you think that one person is superior to another based upon where they live?

Your philosophy is the *ultimate* in bigotry - you who in every other breath criticizes people for their skin color and for where they live.

What a laughable, repulsive, evil human being you are.\

Also...I'm STILL WAITING to here what company I work for, what I do for a living, and what evil my company does. I'm waiting for all this great insight that you possess to be displayed. Waiting......still waiting....

krellin (80 DX)
25 Nov 13 UTC
@mendax - No, I'm not winning. Putin is losing, there is a difference. Putin spends a lot of time telling people how wrong they - how they are racist, how they live in the wrong communities, how they have the wrong jobs -- everything everybody does is wrong.

So we make a few assumptions about Putin based upon his constant condemnation of everyone around here - that includes you, chump - and yet, it turns out that Putin is not better than anyone else - in fact, probably worse. When it comes to whether or not he cares about anyone (because he criticizes everyone for not caring enough) he claims he never said he cares about anyone in defense - pretty much a tacit admission that he, in fact, litererally does not care about anyone. When you ask him for his address...it's vague generalities. When you ask him what great and noble things he does (because everyone else is guilty for not doing enough), it turns out the extent of his good work is collecting a paycheck for warehousing kids in a public school - and he has admitted in the past that the schools are a failure...thus he collects a paycheck for accomplishing nothing, and the most he has done to help people is give a couple of cans of soup to the school can drive for the soup kitchen...

So no...I'm not winning - though I've demonstrated through my resume to be a far better human than Putin, regardless of the words I sling around here -- I'm not winning, but I assure you Putin is losing, as he has revealed himself to be a complete fraud, and a racist and bigot to boot - a pathetic angry man that judged YOU, mendax, based upon your skin color and your zip code. Yup, mendax, in Putin's book you are no doubt a scoundrel, the worst of the worst, because of your genetic lineage, and the location of your house.

I don't really care what you think about me -- but exposing Putin for the utter fraud that he is is a simple delight.

Putin33 would be less insufferable if he was less condescending. Fundamentally Putin33 is an ridiculous abstract reasoner, endlessly defending the logical “soundness” of his proposed rules for society, with little regard for how “creative” humans can become when enforcing rules with power. The fact that most people’s common sense leaves them unpersuaded by his arguments, Putin33 regards this as ignorance as affects pity for us all, as if we didn’t understand what he was saying. Putin33 may even sincerely imagine his plans going right, though mostly as a delusion requiring some willpower to maintain. I don’t dig it, but I can grok it.

But Krellin, what the fuck? You’re coming across like an unreasonable animal.

Putin - if you want to improve yourself - STOP LYING ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU SAY.

Stop using inconsistent philosophy Putin the Rapist....and let us *again* recall how you are a Rapist....Putin <-- public school employee <-- public school employees include convicted rapists; pedophiles, in fact <-- therefore, by being a public school employee Putin is therefore a rapist.

Right, Putin? Isn't this the **EXACT** same logic you use when attacking the church, conservatives, white people ( which makes you a self-hater, ironically), and every other organization you hate?

Please explain to me how I have failed in the application of your logic as it applies to the judgement of all men in organizations you dislike.

THAT, you peverse twit, would be a good start to redeeming yourself. Explain to us how your twisted, perverse, hypocritical logic works, and once we understand what a truly sick and twisted person you are (most of us know...but it's fun when yo spell it out yourself) then we will be more able to recommend corrective action.

Though....I do have a suggestion right now: I know you are an advocate of abortion when the mother doesn't want to be burdened with a child. Well, I know a good number of people that don't want to be burdened with *you*....so if you would be so kind as to execute a postpartum abortion on yourself, we would all be much better off. (And again...this *is* an application of Putin philosophy - ridding the world of an unwanted human is completely moral in your book so....yeah....postpartum abort yourself, please....)

@Putin33 It's actually not my place at all to correct your behavior, who the fuck am I anyway, but I'll clarify what I meant though.

Proposing rules including the banning of alcohol, increased gun control, low thresholds for incitement speech and combining them with cherry picked examples of newsworthy tragedies that are tenuously related to the lack of these rules (Giffords, Rwanda, etc.) indicate that you are trying to *shame* people into accepting your ideas. That's condescending.

Deeper still it's not a moral failing for your debate opponents to favor their own common sense over whatever line of reasoning you're proposing, even if they're not 100% able to refute you, and even if you present evidence of tragedy that your rules would (supposedly) prevent. Constantly prevailing upon people to refute you, or be wrong and lose, shows a pretty immodest assessment of your own mental model for how the world works.

Originally I figured you for a troll, but I looked back at a bunch of older threads where you mentioned that physics "theory is harder than practice" and that the diplomacy game "proves that balance of power does not work." Map vs. territory…

You're an *extreme platonist*, hoss. The leaps of logic that work perfectly in your mental model of the world aren't nearly as convincing to people who have different models, and you're not making much accommodation for people who see things differently.
tendmote (100 D(B))

Tendmote, much of this bill of particulars is taken out of context. Also, some of your indictment appears to be rather inconsistent so I am left feeling confused. Last, I'm not sure how my behavior is much different than the median webdiplomacy forum poster, and I especially don't see how it's different than my frequent and unrelenting critics, who do all of the above in spades.

As for taking things out of context, I did not seriously propose banning alcohol. Do I think it'd be a net benefit? Yes. Do I think there is a lot of mythology about how prohibition "didn't work"? Yes. But I do not think such a ban is workable at this point. That would be clear from threads in which I talk about such things. The last time I mentioned it was in response to frequent claims about how alcohol was much worse than gun violence and yet how I didn't support any kind of serious regulation of alcohol.

Your next examples are from the same single Ted Nugent thread. Once again, as I explained before when you raised this criticism, I was making the point that speech affects actions. Granted it was made in a stark way, but no less stark than the slippery slope arguments I've frequently met with whenever I'm told that any kind of regulation would be akin to tyranny. Again this has already been discussed at considerable length.

"You're an *extreme platonist*, hoss."

Now this comment seems rather inconsistent with your earlier indictment of me for insisting that people refute me. My bone of contention with most posters who frequent the forum is that they are content with simply making assertions without backing them up with any kind of empirical support (coupled with frequent appeals to conventional views or the popularity of their position), while insisting on exhaustive empirical support from their adversaries. How that behavior of mine warrants the 'extreme Platonist' epithet, I am not sure, but such a term is symptomatic of the opacity of your writing style (which itself is strange since you're such a fervent advocate of explicitness).
