Phase Lengths
So there are a bunch of game phase lengths in the range from 30 minutes to 4 hours. Why would anyone ever want to play a game that made them wake up every hour for (potentially) weeks? Has anyone ever used those phase lengths?

Words that are easy to say but hard to live by
I think we all have principles that we believe in that we have trouble following. Here's one of mine--These words from Paul's letter to the Christians in Philippi are close to 2000 years old and still carry tremendous meaning: Philippians 4:6-7. What are yours?

Should We Feel bad for Refusing to Draw Out for 10 years?
gameID=111449 I bought in high, and flubbed a solo run. Once stalemate lines were drawn, I just couldn't live with Germany getting a piece of the draw. However, though I retreated in 1913, England England refused to execute him... I understand loyalty, but I refused to end the game. Germany CD'ed in 1925 making both of our stands on principle moot.

A Request for a Generous Mod
Hello,

I have a request for a trustworthy individual. Draugnar will have to agree to the individual (and to participate in this). It will take probably over an hour or more of your time, but the site will make $100.

Minor bug
Several times in a game of mine, in the list of players at the bottom, it has shown that France is muted when I never muted France. I believe it has only happened when I've been in Russia's messages. When I switch to a different country's messages, it goes away, and doesn't come back when I switch back to Russia's. It's possible that it only happened when I'm first viewing the game after a new turn has began, but I'm not sure.

I somehow am doubting the validity of this IW test considering how many people are getting every answer correct then retaking it fast for the perfect 154. A proper IQ test needs to be taken in a controlled environment without distractions. Taking it at work or school or even in a busy home environment can distract you and make your score go down.

IQ test...
Alderian (2425 D(S))
25 Apr 13 UTC
I'll have to do this tonight, not while at work.

As for GR spreadsheet, I need to make non-detailed versions when you just want to see your ranking and don't care about the breakdown of games win, lost, drawn, and whatnot. But there is some fundamental changes I need to make before that because the way it is now is a real pain to publish and right now I'm doing 5 new spreadsheets and 5 updated spreadsheets a month.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Apr 13 UTC
OK, ran through the IQ test again in our break room and got the perfect 154 with the same answers just cranked out quicker. I did double have to "resolve" a couple of image based ones as I had forgotten what the image was, but they were fast both times around. So taking a 5 or 10 minute break in the middle of section 3 will kill your score.

I'm seeing a lot of introverts on this site. We should have a Myers-Briggs survey just for shits and giggles.
ISTJ is the only valid Meyers-Briggs type, I don't get along with any other variety.
patizcool (100 D)

154 isn't the top score. I got a 156 and took a good bit of time with a question or two. I'll do it again going fast. Did it fast and got a 172. I think someone with decent computer skills could probably do it faster as well.
just tried, you can get 200 if your fast enough. might be worth mentioning its timed to start with and then people can more accurately give there first score. Its not the greatest iq test i've ever seen but not bad considering its free and online

@zultar - whilst this sounds absurd you should consider asking people's date of birth, working out what day of the week they were born and present the results in same way as the rest of the paper. This will help put your results into perspective.

Draugnar (0 DX)

If it weights for youth combined with speed then all us old geezers will cap at around 154 and the younger generation will probably cap as high as 200. Someone who aced it should run through as a six year old girl and see what they cap at. This test is seriously flawed though.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
26 Apr 13 UTC
Probably, which is why I'm glad I only wanted the personality test :)

Those results have been fairly interesting so far and I think are more telling overall.

I think if we've learned anything from this survey so far it's one of two things:

1. Everyone on webdip is a genius (>140 IQ) except abgemacht and Maniac, those guys are seriously dumb.

OR

2. The IQ test inflates your actual IQ, meaning we're all idiots except for CSteinhardt.

Ancient Med Stats?
Does anybody have any win/ draw stats for ancient med games? I know it's quite a balanced map but does any country fare notably better or worse than the others, such as can be seen with Italy in Classic, and South Africa in World etc.
Just by looking at the map I feel like Greece and Egypt might be worst off, despite my only ever solo on this site coming from Greece.

Aldy has done so much for this site, code wise, I think he has to be the most trustworthy of all our members, right up there with Kestas. I know the mdos and admins don't use popularity in their decision, but maybe they could add his name to consideration next time around.
