Does anyone know how to get new AIs for DAIDE? I've only played against Albert and I'd like to get new ones but each time I get one it tells me its the wrong version. If anyone can help enable a fellow Diplo addict I'd appreciate it!

This Time On Philosophy Weekly: Free As a (Causally-Determined) Bird
Right, so "causality" is apparently a four-letter word with my Philosophy of Religion professor, as for him there is absolutely no hearing an argument agaisnt free will, the whole, weeks-long discussion was led by him and emhpasized not IF we can have free will but rather HOW we DO have free will, ie, is it God, science, a balance, and on...so I present it to you, the WebDip Philosophical Community--CAN we have free will, if so to what degree, and if not, why, and is there any point to life?

Gah! I would if I had any points.
Hello.
Draugnar (0 DX)
02 Nov 10 UTC
You want in Eden?
Full press, 20-pt, non-anonymous, WTA. 4-day phases, finalize every hour on the hour from 1600-2300 GMT. Those are my preferences. Semi-anon password protected is fine as well.
Draugnar (0 DX)
02 Nov 10 UTC
Players so far:

Draugnar
Rancher
abgemacht
President Eden

Full Press
20 point buy-in
Semi-anon passworded
WTA (unless someone objects)

4 day phase but finalize at a minimum of once an hour - flexibility if work/school gets in the way is a given. Listed hours are 1600 GMT to 2300 GMT (11AM Eastern to 6PM Eastern).

I left it at just finalizing once an hour because we'd liek to get mnore than 6 turns in on a given day if possible. For retreats and builds, they should be quicker just like in the Face 2 Face boardgame. I also wanted to keep the flexibility for those who may have something come up at work or school that takes them more than an hour of focused time. The idea is to have fun, not be a formal variant that forces strict processing times.
Draugnar (0 DX)
02 Nov 10 UTC
Oh, and it starts Monday.

If this is locked in for the options, I can create the game and abgemacht can be the last person in on Monday morning.
The "on the hour" bit was my restating of my understanding of the rules. I camp on this site in class/at work/at home, so I can be flexible about time rules.
Draugnar (0 DX)
02 Nov 10 UTC
Cool. I'll create the game this evening with a 7 day start to be safe and distribute the passwords. Please don't distribute to friends without running by me first or at least posting to this list. We want to keep a spot open for abgemacht.
Draugnar (0 DX)
03 Nov 10 UTC
Invites are in the three of yours PMs. Remember if you do give it to someone else, post who it is here and check to make sure we aren't going to get too many. I'd like abgemacht to play.

I set it to start in seven days. That gives abgemacht plenty of time to finish the week and join on Monday.

It's funny how you can hear peoples accents in their misspellings. An Australian would never mistake do for due. We pronounce it dyou.
but apparently would do "your/you're" :D

I've never played on here before but used to love the live games using the judges and the RTnow mailing list. My schedule is kinda odd having 2 jobs, but seeing as I'm based in New Zealand my hours are all screwed up with the rest of the world anyway.

i'd love to play, but GMT and not being able to play at work (well one of my jobs at least, i could take breaks from the other to check my games...)

I was just wondering the other day if we had any kiwis in this site. There's quite a few Aussies but DunedinDave you're the first New Zealander that I have seen here.

Draugnar (0 DX)
03 Nov 10 UTC
Yeah, I kind of figured it would be North, Central, and South American players.

Still seeking three more who can play half hour to one hour turns between 11am and 6pm Eastern during the week.

I am in South America, but after 6pm I can´t play, my daughter don´t allow me :-)

Anyway, good game to you guys.

Draugnar (0 DX)
04 Nov 10 UTC
RDR are you sure it isn't 0800 to 1500 for you? You are in South America so it should be Eastern or earlier. What is your time difference compared to New York?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

COME ON GUYS!

2 MOAR!
Draugnar (0 DX)
04 Nov 10 UTC
Maybe three. I'm not sure about Bask joining after all. He didn't understand that it wasn't a four day phase game, but was a hourly game during typical America's (North, South, and Central) work/school hours.
Draugnar (0 DX)
04 Nov 10 UTC
RDR, What is your time zone (GMT -1 is what you are indicating but that puts you in the middle of the Atlantic somewhere).

An idea went to my mind: what would you think of the option to write anonymous messages in your games? Parallel and independent to your regular comments of course.

Rhyming game
This variant of the game seems like it can be a lot of fun. I had the pleasure of seeing one unfold about a year ago. Since I havent been on this site in so long, I have no idea if this has become a common trait among different games on this site now.
The rules are exactly the same as a normal dip game, but with one exception.
if you want to say something, you have to make it rhyme.

In Canada there is some discussion about decriminalizing Marijuana. It will still be against the law to use or distribute, but it will be punished by a ticket (like a traffic ticket) instead of a criminal record.
