Part of the burden of being the Governor of a new place such as this is that hard decisions fall on your shoulders, and when I was informed that my loyalty to this colony had been questioned and that political factions were beginning to take form, I realized that, to quote one of our specialists, I needed to involve myself further and take “proactive leadership” measures. Sanctioned assassinations are not desirable, but they are certainly proactive, and when it comes to protecting the colony from being split into two by letting him continue to spew vile and frankly stupid ideologies or allowing us to get back to business and solve the issues at hand, sanctioned assassination was the second and last resort behind rational and reasonable conversation, which utterly and obviously failed. As has been shown by the fact that corruption is on the rise and morale is on the way down given the Elder’s incessant ploys against us, the best way forward is without him so that we can return to unity, practicality, and the efficiency that we all decided early on in this trip was so valuable to our cause.
I also noticed a startling trend since the Elder joined us: Councillors are going dormant. Where have the voices gone? Perhaps this is due to the fact that there were just six - and now five - of us. Perhaps, though, this is due to the fact that the Elder’s wisdom and knowledge stopped short of understanding when it was time to settle down and allow others the space to speak, act, and ask questions. Perhaps, in my mind, he had outstayed his welcome - from insulting and threatening the Lieutenant, who we all hold in high regard, to offering up faked lines from sacred texts in errant disregard of our King, his time here was short, whether by my hand or by another.
Of course, I have no intention of encouraging infighting among the Councillors, but when action must be taken, I feel it my responsibility as the Governor of New webDipia to take it.
With that out of the way, I have two things to say before I wish to bring this Council back to the order of business that we have, in no small part due to the Elder, found our way astray from in the past phase:
1.) If it is the wish of the remaining Councillors, I will happily resign my post as Governor and leave this seat in the hands of the Colony Manager, Councillor Ike.
2.) If you as a Councillor have any pressing concerns for me, I urge you to make them public. I am not shying away from this action.
