Now, by a Catalonian regional law, if you name your bussiness only in Catalan, you are ok. If you name your bussiness only in Spanish, you have to pay a penalty fee.

The Franco government, which was Castilian, continued until 1975. Franco promised, "to enforce a brand of traditionalist and authoritarian Spanish nationalism that harbored no expression of the distinct 'minority cultures'". It is amazing that the Catalonian culture persevered in the face of tyrannical oppression. The law you cited sounds local. Maybe a reaction to the effort to encourage Spanish only speakers to move into the region as part of the government repressive efforts. I'm just speculating. Would be glad to hear a first hand account? Are you Castilian or Catelonian?

I am not Catilian neither Catalonian, just like you. Franco wasnt either. He was born in Galicia where now there is a relative strong independent movement too.

Many Spanish speakers moved to Catalonian during dictatorship age because an economic reason not because a repressive effort (southern farmers didnt give a shit about any kind of nationalism). There was industry and more employment on the the North. Why? Because Franco, as every Governement before him, kept financing Catalonian and Basque industry much more than the rest of Spanish regions. He did not that because he was a Catalonia lover. Just because they are closer to France and it was easier and cheaper to export to France and Germany from there.

During dictatorship Catalonian people couldnt speak their leguange in public, but they grew rich while the rest of Spain grew poor. Now they say the rest of Spanish are lazy and steal them.

Well, stuff like that happens in other countries too. Bavaria, for example.

What about Andorra?

I don't know much about that tiny country, but it borders Catalonia and Catalan is the primary language there. Are there economic, political, historic, and/or cultural ties between Catalonia and Andorra that might provide us with lessons for how things will go?

I was in Andorra once. Cant remember their history, but culturally they are moreless a sub-region of Catalonia in thr middle on the mountains.

I believe if the Spanish government acted similarly to the Catalonian situation the same way the US did to the California situation Catalonia wouldn't have the support it does now to a succession. Until the government made harsh crackdowns on the voting large portions of Catalonia did not support the succession. Also the Catalonia situation isn't rife with hypocrisy it only has some areas of it. But hey I'm not infallible I'm just trying to share my opinion on the Diplomacy of the world.
