I didn't say anything about police that isn't true. Whether or not they solve *your* individual crime makes no difference to them in terms of whether they collect a paycheck. That's a simple fact. The fact that cops are 99% of the time called in AFTER a crime has been commited is a fact.

The DIA is putting on a show about animation until January 5th, the streets of Woodward avenue are decorated for Christmas. Comerica park was lit up with lights that alternate colors as you drive by, and they lit up the Christmas tree down by Coba Hall Friday night -- very festive in downtown Detroit this weekend.

The poor have protection from crime exactly the same as anyone esle -- that is, when crime occurs, they can either defend themselves in the moment if they are there, or they can call the cops to clean up the mess afterwards. There is no difference in that based upon your finances.

What the poor can do differently is report crime better. The poor can do a better job of telling the police what they saw when crime occurs, instead of having an entire community that tends to be stricken with blindness every time a house gets robbed or a neighbor gets gunned down.

Community is a part of effective crime prevention - and sitting on your ass, failing to report what you know, etc, is contributing to crime, and the poor communities seem much more likely to fail to report.
