Why do we have to wait on someone who can't retreat but only destrouy his unit?
The subject says it all. Just wondering if there is an explanation for it?

What makes someone "good" at gunboat?
Is it a specific set of skills? Good strategy? Communicating? What makes someone like SplitDiplomat better at gunboat than MadMarx?

Diplomacy Simulators
The Classic Diplomacy maps have several simulators (Sandbox/Practice Modes) outside this site, such as Backstabbr or SourceForge. The other 4 variants on this site have no simulators that I could find, so does anyone know where some are? AncMed, Modern2, Empire4, World9

Congrats SG!

First, when Fiedler says "Valis made a cheese also" he doesn't mean to imply that you made a cheese.

Second, webdip will be here for you every step of the way except financially.

Third, as soon as baby arrives, let us know so we can offer advice like "babies are super fun and super stressful. If you can keep calm in the worst of times then everything will be just fine" and "never leave your baby in a car while you run into the store"

It's cool we get to celebrate with you. It shows the connection we have with one another when one of our own would return to share news like this.

Dunno who you are (I'm pretty new to this site), but yay, baby! And, yeah, leave the house carrying *nothing at all* as often as possible before the baby arrives. 'Cos afterwards, there ain't no leaving the house without a ton of baby logistics things, unless you're leaving the baby at home. :-)

All this advice makes me wonder why anyone would have a baby. But congrats!! You're helping society maintain the replacement rate.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
13 Jul 15 UTC
We wonder the same thing. We just say congrats and stuff to fool him into thinking having a baby is fun because it helps them get through. It works very well, because even as they can't sleep for months, run out of clean clothes every other hour and generally don't have a life, they insist having a baby is fun.

Mission accomplished.

Why on earth would anyone come to us for advice on parenting, life etc! Better to look for examples of parenting closer to you, who you can talk to for advice and help who'll know you and your rugrat. (I haven't seen that brilliant programme for such a long while, but look at a few episodes - sound advice, better humour!)

Advice for getting along with babies:

1. Don't stab your baby during the first year.

2. Don't lie about your actions to your baby. Make sure it knows what you're doing.

3. It's okay to lie about your intentions, though. The less your baby knows your true personality the better.

4. The exception to rule 2 is when you are sure you can get away with destroying your baby without retribution.

5. If you are much larger than your baby, it is useful to keep them alive for several more years as you maneuver into a stronger position.

6. Make sure you talk to your baby at least once per season. This helps it to adopt a similar worldview to your own. Then it is easier to make the baby work for you rather than the other way around.

7. It may be useful to allow your baby to grow at a slow rate so that it feels content with you as its guardian.

8. Don't feel obliged to help your baby once it's served its purpose. Don't feel guilty about betraying it!

Best of luck with your new baby!

Not on this much but I'm back to make some responses:

@Lando, no, not religious, my wife is russian born in russia, she's over the hill on her first baby. She's also 2 years older than me.

@Maniac, Appreciate it

@Bo, thanks for the good wishes

@Tru, I'll be looking for that baby advice all the time

@Thorfi, Nice to meet you! I've been here for a while, for the past 5 years *off and on* heh heh.

@Steephie, working on the no sound as much as possible, though the wife is moving around too much, baby keeps kicking. And yes, Mission accomplished

@DemonOverlord, probably not going to ask advice from you based on your handle...no offense. *just a joke*

@Lenpw III, Very good advise. I'm with JamesYanik.

@Fiedler @ILN, major spellcheck required

I miss playing but it's been way too busy to keep up with anything on here. I still read the forums in the morning to catch up on old topics.

@SG: when baby is here, you won't have to worry about noise waking him. Babies sleep like a rock. Only for a few hours at a time when within the first few months, but nothing short of picking them up and shaking them (never shake your baby) will wake them.

We'll be here when you want to return and play a game!

Does a player who left the game share in a draw?
I searched the rules and I didn't see anything. It says 'surviving' players. So if a player left, but still has SCs and units, is he a survivor?

Quick rules question
I'm a little unsure about how coasts affect support orders. Consider the following scenario: England has a fleet in Norway and a fleet in the Gulf of Bothnia. Even though the fleet in Gulf of Bothnia cannot move to StP's north coast, can it support Norway's move to StP's north coast?

Cops frequently lie in the course of their work to coerce 'confessions'...
And then we are expected to accept their testimony in court to vote guilty to convict someone and send them to prison. When should a career where lying is an integral part of the job disqualify someone's court testimony?
