[ice] Hockey is by far the most exciting and entertaining sport on the planet.
That said I like cricket more then baseball and rugby more then gridiron, so its not like I am immune to European sports.
Soccer can be exciting but I rank it as ok. The sport I am most iffy on is Basketball: In my opinion, the first 45 minutes (of a 48 minute NBA game) is the most boring sport you can watch but the last 3 minutes of a close game, then it is one of the most exciting games to watch.
Since at the beginning of a game, no play is important. You miss a basket then who cares you will have another bazillion opportunities, I don't get any adrenaline rush, exciting or rage when my team or their opponent scores or messes up. But come to the end of a game where the score is tight, then plays start to matter, strategy starts becoming important and every shot counts.
That said every sport becomes more exciting at the end of a close game. However, Hockey, Tennis and Rugby are really the only sports that can entertain me from start to finish. Gridiron there are so many breaks in the play I will leave and come back occasionally, cricket while it is exciting, I will rarely watch a full 5 day game and never really got into 20/20 cricket (I have watched ODI cricket from start to finish though).
I was never able to get into soccer, so player names etc. don't mean anything to me. The games I have watched I have enjoyed but don't really have the time time or the will to get into them.
