Any good political blogs?
I had recently completed writing an essay on the threat posed to US hegemony by China. I revised it 7 times and changed it into a better essay. It may have a long way to go, but I wanted to see where it could be considered for publication.

Game Question
In one of my games (I'm playing Turkey) I have an army in Constantinople, a fleet in the Aegean, and a fleet in Bulgaria north coast. Could I use F (Aeg) to convoy Constantinople to Bulgaria, and in a separate move in the same turn move Bulgaria to Constantinople?

Webdip State of the Union Address – NigeeBabys 1st Anniversary
Feedback on my first 12 months on Webdip, I joined on 6th January 2012. Firstly many thanks to all who have contributed to making the website what it is today and those who continue to make the site and the forum so active and interesting.

I will just indulge the forum to reflect on a few of the highlights of the year for me.
1) Completed 538 games, not bad going. Did not discover a use for the Support/Hold option until I had played well over 100 games.
2) I have really enjoyed the live anon gunboat format but to master the skill of playing those games and understanding the various nuances and unwritten rules has been great fun but takes time.
3) I have set up and played in a few gunboat tournaments which were great fun.
4) I have played some very good players, most who have wiped the floor with me but I have beaten SplitD in a head-to-head once which was tres jolie, once is not enough but it’s a good start.
5) I have enjoyed participating in the forum, sometimes I have even made serious contributions to debate. The quality of the troll has had to rise to meet the increased expectations of the contributors who have become more sophisticated and fluent in their debate, of course there are always a few notable exceptions (you know who you are). There have been a number of occasions when my ironic humour has caused confusion but you can’t please all of the people all of the time, some people never.
6) I was a little surprised by receiving offensive PMs when first joining but I tried to hold my own and have sent out a little broadside if I felt the level of disrespect warranted it. Nuff respect for the few people who subsequently came back to me and apologised.
7) I think the Mods have been entertaining for different reasons but in recent months they have come good which seems to coincide in part with jmo joining the team, keep up the good work guys.
8) I think the most controversial post which attracted the most vitriol was when I suggested that people may want to contribute financially for use of the site, I was genuinely surprised by some players extreme reactions to the suggestion that people who enjoyed the site could pay the person who built the site and pays for its upkeep.
9) The one big confusion and disappointment for me (which I have voiced on a number of occasions) has been the cheats, especially in anon gunboats when it is that more obvious. I still don’t fully understand why they bother, if some of these people spent as much time learning the game as they do cheating they wouldn’t need to cheat.
10) A couple of other interesting things happened this year, London staged the greatest show on Earth with the 2012 Olympics in August, as an Englishmen that filled me with immense pride. It also gave us an opportunity to see Mitt Romney in the flesh in the UK, not the sharpest button in the biscuit tin it has to be said and a very unpleasant man; it was a very positive and inspirational message to send around the world that Obama the Muslim Communist was elected as U.S. President again, even though he could do a lot better I’m sure Romney would have been a total douche-bag (whatever that means).
So thanks to all once again for a great year, to quote Vinnie Jones from the film Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels, “It’s been emotional”

You forget the really exciting bit when you left for a month!

In all seriousness, congrats on sticking out your first year. I wouldn't say I like you, or appreciate your contribution, or indeed value you as a human being... but you have become part of the fabric of the place. If you were to leave my feelings of relief would be tinged with genuine regret. Well done.

I was knackered at that stage when I took some time off, at one point I was playing over 40 games and I needed a break. Thanks to bo-sox for stepping in and playing out my remaining games. When you play 538 games in a year that is some going..... I'm sure it's not a record though, there is sure to be someone with some crazy number of games.

538 in a year is pretty nuts...I wonder if the Czech or Lando has beat that in thier most active year. The Czech has averaged around 450 games per twelve months over the last three and a half years, and Lando has averaged around 390 per twelve months over the same time period.
Jan to apr 2011 was my kost active. By far.

I think sd, mm and zmaj have had their moments as well

How can you have 40 games going at once? Do you have nothing else to do with your time? No job / studying / whatever?

I was working full-time, it was difficult, quite stressful.....I had work through my addiction, sometimes abstinence is the only cure.
40 gunboats is easily manageable. Would take about 80 minutes per day. Or less.

^ @ Lando

And no problem finishing the games... I had little going on and had just come back from my own vacation, really didn't have any games.

Webdip community, please help settle an IRL disagreement
Which of these TV shows is the most psychologically traumatic, and why: 1) Battlestar Galactica (99.75% of humanity wiped out by killer robots), 2) Walking Dead (zombie apocalypse), or 3) Breaking Bad (a handful of people die who (by and large) probably had it coming anyway). Please keep spoilers to a minimum or encrypted with ROT-13 encryption (http://web.forret.com/tools/rot13.asp).

Stop the aid to Africa! It does more harm than good
If the industrial nations really want to help the Africans, they should finally terminate this awful aid. The countries that have collected the most development aid are also the ones that are in the worst shape. Despite the billions that have poured in to Africa, the continent remains poor.

Since I'm not qualified to ask questions about science, I'll go to something I know more about. Really, are airlines this stupid? I (kind of) understand the lack of legroom, I (kind of) understand the side fees that they never tell you about, I (kind of) understand extra bag fees for overweight bags, but can't they just hand you your valuables in one piece?
