So I just finished a KAO cigar...
I kept reading rave reviews and hearing good things from my buddies at the poker room. All I can say is meh. They aren't as good as my beloved A. Fuente Gran Reserva Hemingway's Give me a Signature or a Classic any day, and if I have time, a Masterpiece will do just fine.

SplitDiplomat, thank you for taking those extra TEN YEARS to eliminate me, despite the fact that I turned around to stop the Austrian solo attempt, and despite the fact that there was no way for you to solo. That warms my heart. I hope the extra 11.6 D were worth it.

really cool virus/dna study

'Astonishingly, only 1.5% of the genetic material in our cells codes for human life. Half of the rest is sometimes described as "junk DNA" with no known function, and the other half consist of genes introduced by viruses and other parasites.'

The loss of a beloved Dog...
discuss...
I hated it when my dog died. I had that dog for 15 years. Its like losing a good friend. I hope it was an easy and painless end.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Um... Still hard to talk about the loss of our first two dogs. They had long full happy lives, but they were members of our family. And even though we have two new little boss I love dearly, Bandit and Mind will forever have changed my life for the better.

I have to put my baby to sleep this saturday since and i haven't been able to stop crying already. my baby has been a huge part of my life and i love the ground his little paws walk on. i cannot get another dog. i never realised what a huge and important part of my life he's been in the 4 yrs 2 weeks i've had him
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Apr 12 UTC
Only 4 years? Was he an older adoptee or does he have a serious illness? Speaking from.experience, putting a beloved family member to sleep is the hardest decisionbyou'll ever make. Whether to be in the room.when they do it or not is up to you, but i was there for our first one and it about killed me to watch him and see the life drain from his eyes and his body go listless as he took his last breath. I don't think I can ever do that again. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and you beloved baby.

i rescued him on the 9th April 2008, cos he was in the paper with the headline "exceution date 10/4/08." he was abused and kicked, stabbed etc. he even has the same scar on his belly as i do.
he saved my life by sniffing the Big C out... no one knows his real age, but the vet thinks 11-12 or older cos he's all but blind... but his seizureures are too comon now. he;s had 7 in 3 days. i hate the screams he makes. last night it was 7 yelps of pain. it breaks my heart. apparently he has a tumor or cancer. people say dogs don't feel pain and i can't abide that excuse. i know he does. he just can;t talk. i have never put a dog to sleep but i wanna be there this saturday. i can't let a stanger do that to him while his daddy is out of the room.
I can't imagine anythin worse

Well, now that my eyes are all watered up, suppose I'll make a comment... Death sucks. I hate the thought of it. I haven't had too many pets die in my life, or too many people that I know well either, but I suppose it's the same sort of thing. Sometimes it is just their time, and out of your control, and better off for them really. Sucks doesn't even begin to describe it, I know, but I'm confident he will live on in you for the rest of your life and his impact will never be forgotten. Consider yourself lucky for having known your dear friend, sorry it wasn't longer, and good luck navigating the troubled waters that lie ahead of you.

he's beside me now- he gets to sleep on the bed. i'll bathe him and give him his fave food(a raw chicken wing) before it happens- i know it sounds weird.
mum died last mth and i didn't cry anywhere near as much and Knut is still here. compounded maybe. i'm still looking for ways to hold onto him.
I'm just happy i gave him 4 good years treated a a god and not a dog

Deepest sympathy Sydney. Dogs feel pain. Part of caring for him is making the end of his life as dignified as you can, and it sounds like you are performing that difficult responsibility admirably. Have someone there to drive you home because you won't be in any shape to.

thanks Tettleton. i think it's a job i have to do alone. i can't deal with my mates knowing what i know- as in how i will break down.... i want to be alone. i've already turned off my phone and blocked them from facebook. i just need brad time.
but thank you. he had another today and his unconciousness lastged 13 minutes.
he has an injection to bring him ;round but i'm clinging like he is til saturday.

We offer our pets the dignity and humanity that sometimes we deny our loved ones.
I hope that knowing you are doing a decent and compassionate thing will ease the pain when you look back and reflect.
Sadly life is not always about winning and moving forward, sometimes it's about hanging on by our finger tips and hoping for brighter days ahead. Ultimately we'll be judged and judge ourselves on how we acted when things got tough.
So I'm sending you the strength of a tiger and the bravery of St George to help see you through the tough days ahead........what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.
Love and respect
Nigee

thank you. sure he appreciates it as much as i do. he played biteys with my fingers while rolled on his back and for a brief moment i thought it was fine.
he yelped for no reason and anotheer seizure. i hope i can do what is right for him saturday and not what i think i want. he deserves that, my little man

Thank you. i am sure he is too. i just he didn't see me cry and worry. i can see it in his eyes. i feel selfis for not being able to control my emotions knowing each time i feed him or play with him that it's one of the last times.
thank you all xo

Just curiosity because our Sebastian has seizures... Have you tried medication like phenobarbytol? It cost us < $10 per month and has brought his seizures under control.

As far as having to watch the suffering... When our Mindy approached the end, she was having a heart attack overtime she went outside to do her business. We'd bring her back in and revive her on top of the A/C vent. She had a whole in her heart and the heat of that August was too much for her 15 year old damaged heart to take. I can feel for you. Watching her basically die in front of us twice a day and seeing her sleeping the rest of the day away because she had no more energy to get up and do anything was two weeks of torture.
